I just finished watching "Endgame" and, as expected, it was golden. It's too bad Cartoon Network/DC didn't request more episodes so that concepts such as Tim/Cassie or Static or the whole...you know...Darkseid-Light plot.

Anyway, I was wondering. Obviously you had plans for a third season, but can DC allow you to at least release your plans for the show?

If not, I wish you good luck in whatever projects you do next. I hear you're writing novels soon. At least you can write whatever you want in them, from Shakespearean references to Xanatosian plots, and they won't be cancelled by higher powers.

Greg responds...

As always, I have hopes of revisiting these characters someday, so no one is preventing me from releasing my plans but me.

I'm very hopeful about the novels. The first two will definitely be published, but whether we see the third book in the RAIN OF THE GHOSTS series will totally depend on sales of the first two.

Which, at least, is a pretty straight-forward uncomplicated criteria.

I can't help but ask, what was behind your decision to kill Wally, as opposed to say, having Barry slow down and sacrifice himself for him?

Was Marie Logan artificially inseminated?if not I'm guessing Gary's parents split up with the obvious homosexuality which consumes marie.
Sorry for the big words. I'm trying to do better in English class

GARGOYLES 19th Anniversary

Today marks the Nineteenth Anniversary of the World Premiere of Gargoyles at the movie theaters on Pleasure Island at DisneyWorld in Orlando, Florida. Certainly one of the most stressful evenings of my life, one that seemed to veer toward total disaster but ultimately turned out to be a bit of a triumph and then a flat-out fun time with Keith David, Josh Silver, Salli Richardson and Marina Sirtis.

Wanna hear more of this story? Then make plans now to attend ConVergence 2014 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, July 3-6, 2014 to celebrate our TWENTIETH Anniversary next year. I'll tell this anecdote and many, many more... (Honestly, you won't be able to shut me up!)

On an unrelated note, I'd also like to thank all the friends, family and fans, who took time out to wish me a happy FIFTIETH Anniversary of my birth. (Otherwise known as my birthday.) It was so wonderful. Thanks!!

Anime Vegas

So I'll be a guest at ANIME VEGAS this November 1-3rd:

http://www.animevegas.com/

Programming isn't set yet, so I'll keep you posted on my schedule, but if you're in the vicinity, plan to be there. As you all know, I'm not big on SPOILERS, but I'm way more likely to tease a few things in person than I am on either Twitter or here. So come and be (slightly) better informed!!!

RAIN OF THE GHOSTS, BOOK TWO COUNTDOWN, Chapter Forty-Three

RAIN OF THE GHOSTS, BOOK TWO COUNTDOWN, Chapter Forty-Three:

And here's another of my shameless attempts to maintain buzz about my new novel, RAIN OF THE GHOSTS, due out in stores and on-line on December 3rd, 2013 (but available for pre-order NOW on Amazon, etc.):

http://www.amazon.com/Rain-Ghosts-Greg-Weisman/dp/1250029791

Since there's not too much to report about the first book right now, I'm counting down my progress writing the SECOND book in the Rain series, SPIRITS OF ASH AND FOAM, which is due out on May 13th, 2014 and can also be pre-ordered:

http://www.amazon.com/Spirits-Ash-Foam-Ghosts-Novel/dp/1250029821/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1379918087&sr=8-1&keywords=spirits+of+ash+and+foam+a+rain+of+the+ghosts+novel+by+greg+weisman

Last night, I finished writing Chapter Forty-Three. This one combines two chapters (43 and 44 - or from the original plan 38 and 39). Things are starting to wrap up. But I still wouldn't say I'm in the home stretch yet. One last really tough chapter to get through...

I'll start on Chapter Forty-Four tonight.

GREG!!! YOU OUT DID YOURSELF WITH YOUR SEASON FINALE FOR INVASION!!! But Seriously, WALLY? Why him? And the way you ended things off this season, Apokolips, Darkseid, I mean, there's no way that you guys can pull the plug on this show now you realize that right? Fans will petition and write and demand for more YJ, especially now that Darkseid has been shown to be in the picture. Cause if Vandal is looking for payback then bringing down Darkseid on the Earth is sure as heck the best way I can think of.

Please tell us there will be more!!! I don't care if I have to wait till next year to watch more, please tell me that there's still more to come!!!!

Greg responds...

Well, there's Young Justice Legacy still to come. And the best way to get more YJ is to support that.

But I'm glad that the first post here at ASK GREG about "Endgame" was a positive one. That's a relief. (Or perhaps, merely a small mercy. Either way, I'll take it.)

First, thank-you for doing this. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer our questions and respond to comments. I realize that it must try your patience. Many of the posters have clearly not read the rules, and many of the questions are blatant spoiler requests or have already been answered. And, as much as I hate to admit it, I may have broken the rules a few times myself.

I'm currently writing a fantasy novel for girls. I'd like to ask about the following:

1) I notice that you refer to using a board and cards. In your experience, is it better to do an outline before you start writing a novel whether it is on paper or on index cards? Some writers and writing teachers talk about finding the story as you go along. One writing teacher of mine said that he wouldn't bother writing a story if he knew how it was going to end ahead of time. (Personally, I find having an outline gives me great peace of mind, and if a better idea comes to me as I'm writing, I just change the outline.) What are your thoughts on this?

2) Another of my writing teachers recommended writing out a thirty page biography of your main character to give him or her more depth. Does this strike you as a useful exercise?

Sincerely,

Marvelman

Greg responds...

1. To each his or her own, but personally, I couldn't write anything of any length without outlining it in advance. Doesn't mean I stick to it rigidly. If better ideas come or the story wants to move in a different direction, so be it. But I need a base. I once tried writing a comic book script without outlining it in advance, and it was way more work for me, then if I had. And a comic is about the equivalent of a third of a television episode.

2. It could be. I don't know about giving a specific page count for that sort of thing. I tend to write bullet points. Things I've established, things I want to establish, etc. It's as long as it needs to be, as opposed to being a set thirty pages of prose. But again, to each his or her own.

In the episode, "Satisfaction", if Aqualad did not go under cover, would he have remembered Superboys's birthday? I am assuming that Superman knows, for me to feel better for Superboy, but it would be nice if you can tell me that, too.

Greg responds...

I assume if Artemis hadn't died, many people would have been more focused on Superboy's birthday.
