Why did Batman have that unhappy look on his face when he learn from Martian Manhunter that Miss Martian was born 48 earth years old in Young Justice episode Agendas ?
I don't think he was unhappy about Miss Martian's age, if that's what you mean. He knew that already.
Did you intentionally use the same shot for rimbor as was used in the green lantern first flight movie for the planet where hal and sinestro go to look for Abin Sur'skiller
Depends what you mean by "intentionally". We knew we were pulling a reused background. We're not trying to merge the continuities, if that's what you mean.
I was surprised that this wasn't asked already, but maybe I missed it going through the archives. Was Batman seriously completely unaware that aqualad was a double agent, given that he taught nightwing how to strategize, and was the world's greatest detective? And if he did know, did he support the idea, or help come up with it in any way? Also, did he know black manta was aqualads father bbefore aquaman told him?
1. He didn't know. And being the World's Greatest Detective doesn't make one omniscient. How boring would he be if he were?
2. Maybe. Haven't thought about it.
Did zatanna go to school at happy harbor high after her dad became doctor fate, or did batman send her to gotham academy
Neither, initially. She finished her semester at the Catholic school in New York that she had been attending. It was just a zeta-tube ride away.
How was M'gann allowed to become Garfield's guardian before she was the biological equivalent of a 18 year old a age she didn't reach until the year 2016 ?
She was the only close family member that Garfield had left. Emotionally, she was the right person at that time. Plus, at the Cave, Gar would have a ton of guardians and mentors.
Why did Megan Morse who is in realty Miss Martian choose to study for a college degree since she can live for at least a another two hundred more years ?
She values education. What does her lifespan have to do with that?
How did THE villain Queen Bee know the team was at the Logan family home in episode image after Miss Martian use Queen Bee's form in episode Image ?
Intel from her army.
Why are most of the questions here about Garfield? He's not even an OG character, I would like to know what jobs Artemis and Wally were going to get after their degrees. He was studying Physics and she was doing a double-major in Human Biology and Comparative Literature. What were they trying to get into with those degrees?
1. I dunno.
2. By now, you probably know that Artemis is studying to be a Comp Lit professor. Wally might have been a professor, too, in Physics. Certainly, Artemis thought that might be the direction he might head.
Dear Mr. Wiesman,
You once responded to a question with: Relative to a normal human, yes. Less than a Kryptonian or an Atlantean or an Amazon, but more than a typical human. Of course, it also depends on what form him or her is in and thus the current level of his or her density."
This was a question about Martian super strength.
1. You already stated that atlanteans have super strength ranging from "undetected" to Aquaman level strength (I'm assuming the word undetectable is what was intended for that statement). So my question is can the same be said for the Amazons or is Wonder Woman the only Amazon with super strength do to her unique origin?
I'm only asking because it varies from story to story and the way you said it suggests that all Amazons have some degree of super strength. However it also seemingly suggest that all Atlanteans have some degree of super strength too and Atlanteans with "undetected" (I'm assuming the word undetectable was intended) are basically at surface dwelling human level.
I think all Amazons are probably a bit stronger than the typical human, but mostly due to training and maybe a bit from the Purple Ray. They're not all as strong as Diana or Troia or Cassie.
Hello Greg. I am curious about Spectacular Spiderman. I know that you have other upcoming projects to focus on, but if Sony were to completely reliquensh all rights for the Webhead including the series and Marvel acquired them, do you believe there would be a chance for you to conclude the series as you planned?
That's such a huge hypothetical, that I don't know how to respond... beyond saying that I personally would be willing to continue the series in the EXTREMELY UNLIKELY event that all the stars aligned to give me the chance.
But it doesn't conclude. It never concludes.
Is Queen Miras's magic on the level of wotan? or Zatanna? Or pre Docotor Fate Zatara? Or is she weaker than all three
I'm not big on ranking. But she's incredibly powerful.
Why does tim drake not have a problem with dating his teammate wonder girl knowing she has super powers and tim drake does not ?
Why would he?
Does Lucas Carr know beast boy's real name is Garfield Logan ? Does Lucas Carr know Marie Logan was the mother of Garfield Logan ?
1. Yes.
2. Yes.
Why did Miss Martian morph her hair in season 2?
She wanted to.
Will the Young Justice theme song for season 3 have any words? Also, how many episodes have already been recorded for Young Justice season 3??
1. No.
2. 26.
3. 26 have also been fully recorded for Season Four. We have thirteen episodes in the can, seven more in post-production. The last six are being animated by Studio Mir now. Pre-production is virtually complete, except for a little bit of color on the last episode.
Is Beast Boy's mount justice bedroom in young justice invasion the same bedroom Miss Martian has in young justice if so why did Miss Martian give Beast Boy her old bedroom to him when he was living at mount justice ?
No, it's not. She still has her room.
Someone else JUST asked me less than a month ago. Folks, one of the reason the queue is so long is because you're not following the guidelines and checking to see if a question was asked already before posting it again.
What was M'gann's age when she first started watching earth tv shows on mars sent to mars by martian manhunter ?
Pretty young. I first started in utero.
How did Miss Martian learn Marie Logan was dead ?
I don't know.
Who got that poster the red dinosaur for Garfield he had on the wall in his room in mount justice and when did he get it ?
Which poster?
Did Garfield Logan attend a church after his mom died before he lived at the cave since he is a Christian ?
I don't think so. He seems pretty secular to me.
Did Miss Martian start having that shorter hair style she has in young justice invasion before or after Garfield started living at the mount justice cave ?
Haven't locked that down.
How tall can Miss Martian make herself using her shapeshifting power?
Very. Changing her volume is fairly easy. She cannot change her mass.
What was Marie Logan's height in episode Image ?
I don't know. I don't know anyone's height. I just have a notion of how tall they are relative to each other.
Has Garfield been to visit his mother's grave since megan morse became his legal guardian ?
Sure.
By the time of the events of young justice invasion how does beast boy get a haircut ?
Haven't thought about it. Maybe M'gann does it.
What did Queen Bee think would happen to Garfield after she killed his mom ?
I doubt she cared.
How did Malcolm find out that Karen was bumblebee ?
I haven't thought about it. He may have known from the beginning.
In the Haly's circus YJ episode, was parasite working independently? Would his stolen heat vision and flight go away when superboy used up the shield he had been wearing? And did robin get in trouble for the mission, or did batman not find out.
1. As he stated, he was working with Intergang.
2. All of Parasite's stolen powers fade away eventually.
3. Batman found out. You can judge how much trouble Robin got in by measuring Batman's reactions to the rest of the Team's missions.
Why did not m'gann try to avenge marie logan's death in 2011 ?
Who says she didn't?
Anyway, you can't just attack a Head of State. Won't go over well.
Hi, Greg. I hope you are well. This is a follow up to an earlier question about what not to say while working in the entertainment business.
Would you say that it is best not to publicize your political opinions while working in the entertainment business - especially if they go against the mainstream? Would you suffer some kind of retribution if higher-ups don't like what you have to say?
Let me give you two examples. They are my examples, everyone. I am not saying Greg even has an opinion on either of these issues. Let's say you disagree with Israel's treatment of the Palestinians and say so on an online forum - not as an employee of Warner Bros. but as a private citizen. Or, let's say you think corporations have too much power over the U.S. government and that corporate donations to political campaigns ought to be banned.
Would publicly expressing such opinions be a career ending move? Should you limit such discussions to friends and family?
I'm not too shy about expressing my political opinion. I'm a liberal Democrat and that's hardly a secret. And, GENERALLY, I work in a liberal industry, so there aren't a ton of repercussions professionally.
On the other hand, I try not to be obnoxious about it. And "politic" about when I bring things up. There are appropriate and inappropriate times. Again, most of this is about common sense and being polite.
On the third hand, I'm not that interested in using my position to make online political statements. I AM interested in using my fiction to make those statements: hopefully with some finesse, if not subtlety.
What was Garfield's opinion about mount justice when he first arrive at cave ? Did Garfield ask why he was being aloud to live at the cave when he first arrive at the cave ?
1. I'm guessing he was pretty impressed.
2. He knew why.
After episode IMAGE did M'gann tell her uncle about meting Garfield and his mother witch was the woman miss martian base her human form on ?
Eventually. But he also had more awareness of her situation prior to that.
What is the lifespan of members of Halkman and halkwoman race ?
Right now, I'm assuming that the Thanagarian lifespan is more or less the same as a human's.
Would you be interested in working on the upcoming Carmen Sandiego series if you were approached? (And you weren't already busy with the new Young Justice season?)
Potentially. But I honestly don't know anything about Carmen Sandiego, so it's not a natural fit. But I do consider myself a quick study.
Topic: Gargoyle Biology
Question 1: Given the Gargoyles' wings are like bat or bird wings, nor noticeably have a smaller pair of hands, could there possibly have been a Gargate species that existed with two sets of arms, instead of a pair of arms and a pair of wings?
Question 2: Given the immense diversity between Gargoyle appearances, including the Loch Ness clan being semi-amphibious, do Gargoyles have a high genetic mutation rate or a special genetic adaptivity depending on the environment?
1. Well, I suppose. Interestingly, an older design for Lexington gave him two sets of true arms, including two sets of hands, with his wings largely unchanged, i.e. that middle set of arms that you can see in the center of his wings were still there, but they were more firmly developed and had actual hands at the end.
2. Maybe? I'd have to consult with some of our fan-biologists on the possibility. But keep in mind, Gargates are a VERY old species. They've had tons of time to evolve. Way longer than humans have had. The miracle is that they have maintained as much cultural, um, "integrity," as they have.
Topic: Phoenix Gate and time travel to the future
In regards to Gargoyles 2198, we know the Phoenix Gate cannot allow someone to change the past as it is part of the history, but how would the Phoenix Gate and time travel work if someone from the present were to go to the future?
During planning, were there problems with figuring out how Brooklyn's presence in 2198 would relate to his "historical self" (either "disappeared" when the Gate took him; the "historical Brooklyn" never time-travelled), or did you always have it in mind that time-travel to the future from the present was also immutable - Brooklyn factus erit iam illud (Brooklyn already shall have done that)?
P.S. I apologize in advance if my Latin is off.
1. Knowing no more about what happens next than one would being someone from the present IN the present, it's more of a non-issue. If someone from even FURTHER in the future showed up, then the M.I.A. scenario is in play.
2. If I'm understanding you right, the latter. Again, a non-issue, as I knew he was time-dancing, and one of his stops would be 2198.
In the comics Miss Martian gave her story as to how she got to earth, part of which we know was a lie. Later speedy said that she stowed away on manhunters ship. Is speedy completely right, or is what actually happened something between the two stories? And if speedy is right, how did he find out/know?
Red Arrow was basically right. And he got the truth from Manhunter.
When Miss Martian visit Garfield after mom died was it orphanage or foster home Garfield was living at the time ?
He was living with Rita Farr.
What kind of things did M'gann and Garfield do together after his mom died before Garfield live at the cave ?
She visited him at Rita's.
Greetings, Mr. Weisman:
I´ve been trying to get the Young Justice comicbooks but they´re very expensive. With the show returning, is there any possibility of affordable reprints?
The entire run of the YJ companion books has recently been reissued in two new trade paperbacks, complete with new never-before-reprinted stories and background material. Both trades are available at comic book stores and on Comixology.
Did Miss martian have to ask permission to become Garfield's guardian ? And if so who did M'gann have to ask for permission to become Garfield's guardian?
There was no one left to ask after the death of Rita. I'm guessing that all agreed that she was the right person to take on the job. And, thus, Batman and the League smoothed things out with authorities.
This isn't a question, but a word of encouragement.
Whatever happens in the future with a return of "Gargoyles", I'm very much interested and looking forward to getting back into it.
I don't care if it's comic books or TV. Having anything new is all that matters, whatever form it may be. So, I'm glad to know that you haven't and won't give up on it, and that there might be more on the way.
It's been a while since I watched the show, but I just got it on DVD since the rest of season 2 (finally!) was released.
I think it holds up pretty well, as do the SLG comics. I'd still love to do more. I've never given up, and I won't start giving up now!
First of all, I wanted to say I'm a huge fan of your work on the shows Rebels and Spectacular Spider-Man. Now, I wanted to ask what was the reason behind Eddie Brock's look in Spectacular? I always thought he stood out from the rest of characters somehow. I'd greatly appreciate if you could go as in depth as possible. Thanks for giving us such masterpieces and have a merry christmas.
I'm really not sure what you mean. He was designed by Cheeks Galloway, just like all the major characters. What seems different to you?
Will the complete young justice timeline be revel if all future seasons of the young justice you Mister Greg plan for the show to have are produce ?
Never. Cuz we'll never run out of ideas for future seasons, and the timeline is constantly growing. Right now it's 694 pages on my desktop computer and 609 pages on my laptop. (I have no explanation for the discrepancy. It's the exact same document. My desktop is much older than my laptop.)
Is David Hyde the real name of Black Manta in the Young Justice cartoon...?
No spoilers.
Hey Greg!
I am one of Gargoyles fans and I think that it is timeto make a movie. I know you have talked about it already but there is something else I would like to propose. We should collect as many signatures as possible for gargoyles to return and also collect sigantures for the live action movie. Would you be interested? I think that we as fans could push Disney to do something about it, to show them that we really deserve a live action movie of Gargoyles. I am not asking if it is possible. I am asking if you are with us?
Well, I'm not sure how to answer that. I'm all for it. But, no, I guess I'm forced to admit I'm not with you. Cause I do not believe it's the correct approach to accomplish your stated goals. Petitions mean nothing. Vote with your wallet. And that means subscribing to Disney+ and binge-watching Gargoyles over and over and over. That's the best way to get more Gargoyles material of ANY kind.
#KeepBingingGargoyles
When did M'gann started to view or treat Garfield as a brother ?
Pretty rapidly after Image.
After Megan Morse became Garfield's guardian did Garfield go to happy harbor school for a time before being home school at mount justice ?
Probably not. But, as always, I reserve the right to change my mind if Brandon and I decide in a story that he did.
Hey Greg, just wondering your opinion on the last Jedi? The response is polarizing and me personally, I loved it aside from a few scenes where I'd edit out a line of dialogue out.
God, it's been awhile now. I seem to recall there's a lot I liked about it. I had some problems with it, but most of my issues were really just extensions of my issues with the previous film's set up.
I liked Rose a lot.
not sure if this is asking for spoilers, given i have no idea how far your plans for how you would feature the gargoyles version of atlantis in story, but here goes.
How far did the atlantean empire stretch in the gargoyles universe before the continent fell into the sea, and was the continent located west of africa like the the original legends go, or was it somewhere else?
No spoilers. Sorry.
Hey Greg,
I hope all is well~ <3
I just finished The Spectacular Spider man and I can't sleep anymore, my heart aches because of how the show was left off, especially when I enjoyed it so much. It just fills me with negative emotions every time I look at one of Disneys Spiderman cartoon shows knowing well enough that it won't ever be as good as Spectacular Spiderman. I know I won't get any closure no matter what I do. But I do have questions.
My few questions are:
1) How much of Spectacular Spiderman did you write after the end of season 2?
2) Were any of season 3 of Spectacular Spiderman episodes animated?
3) Will you ever work on another Spiderman animated series? Or any other marvel super hero cartoon show?
I just want to add that the way Spectacular Spiderman was created, it was amazing. The character development, the fight scenes, the drama, and of course, the theme song. They were all just perfect. I enjoyed the series greatly but anxiety kept getting stronger every time an episode ended.
Thank you so much for The Spectacular Spiderman, it was great~ <3
1. None. We had plans. But we wrote no scripts. Did no real work.
2. There were no Season Three episodes.
3a. I'd love to, but it's not up to me.
3b. Ditto.
Thanks for your kind words.
Hi Greg! I'm a HUGE fan of YJ (Congrats on Season Three, sorry if we bothered you too much about it!). I have two questions, but I'm only really expecting one answer.
1- Does Wally West have ADHD? He has a few signs of it (obvious hyperactivity, hyperfocusing on science, often acting immature, sometimes not understanding things, being very impulsive, etc) and I see at lot of myself in him as a person with ADHD.
1. I'm not qualified to make that diagnosis. But I'm not against the notion.
2. What was the second question?
Hi Greg! I'm so excited for Season 3, can't wait to see what you create!
I've got two questions for you:
1) For how long had the original team known Robin I/Nightwing's secret identity as Dick Grayson by the time Season 2 started?
2) Did Roy know Robin's secret identity in Season 1?
Thanks and good luck with production!
1. I'm not going to lock down an exact date in this forum until we've made a decision in a story.
2. No. Just Wally.
What was Garfield Logan's A designation ? Garfield's B designation was B19.
He never had an A designation.
Why does Beast Boy in season two have miss Martian's mount justice bedroom she had in season one ? If she gave it to him when he move into the cave then question is why ?
It's a different room. Many of the rooms have a similar layout.
How soon after hello megan started airing in 1979 did M'gann started shapeshifting into megan morse form ?
Soon after she saw it. Though as I've stated, her proficiency in the form got better over time.
In Young Justice season 2 episode 17 (The Hunt), Nightwing and Miss Martian apologize to one another and Miss Martian says Nightwing's first name. When and how did she know about his identity? Do the others besides Kid Flash, Batman, Tim Drake and Impulse?
The old guard know at this point.
When Garfield Logan came to mount justice for the first time was he under megan morse's guardianship by that point ?
By that time, yes.
Random question: you've discussed religious affiliations of a few characters in the past right? I was wondering: of the original team, (Dick, Wally, Kaldur, Conner, M'Gann) how many believe in God? Of those who do, what are their religions? Thanks!
Dick is maybe agnostic?
Wally probably believes in God. He comes from some kind of Christian background. Maybe Methodist.
Conner is probably an Atheist.
Kaldur and M'gann believes in gods (plural).
After Garfield's eyes turn green did his hair turn green next or did his skin turn green next ?
I'm gonna say... hair next. But I reserve the right to change my mind if later Brandon and I decide to go another route.
Lately I've been thinking of a villain trope that is decades (if not centuries) old. The maniacal laugh or the evil laugh. When used properly, I love it. When not, it can be hammy, over the top, and out of character.
Several of the villains you've written over the years have used it, and many haven't.
Off the top of my head, Thailog comes to mind first. And I wouldn't want Thailog without it. Granted, I sometimes wonder where he picked it up. It definitely wasn't from Xanatos. And while Sevarius might be hammy, I don't recall him doing it.
Hyena also has a maniacal laugh, and given her name (and personality) it definitely suits her.
The Archmage had a maniacal laugh.
Demona laughed maniacally three or four times. But it's not a trait we normally associate with her.
And let us not forget the Green Goblin in "Spectacular Spider-Man". I think he was the only villain on the show to have one. Likewise, I recall Nerissa doing it on "W.I.T.C.H." at least once.
The Joker aside, I do not recall any of the villains on "Young Justice" doing it. Any of them. Maybe I'm misremembering, it's been a while since I watched through the show, but I am struggling to remember and coming up blank.
Which leads to me to ask. Is the maniacal laugh a dated relic? Especially as we expect supervillains to be more sophisticated in our dramatic fiction, superhero or otherwise.
For example, in "Transformers", the classic Megatron used to laugh maniacally all the time. All the time. More modern takes on Megatron have done away with the maniacal laugh.
I love it, don't get me wrong, but should villains still be doing it. If we ever get more "Gargoyles", I definitely want Thailog to continue doing it. But, had Thailog made his debut in the year 2017, would I still want him doing it?
You have gotten the chance to create your own great supervillains as well as write many of the classic and iconic supervillains. Right now, what are your thoughts on the villainous laugh?
I haven't exactly studied this issue.
I use it when it feels right in terms of character and situation. Obviously, some characters have more of a sense of humor about what they do than others.
Not all villainous laughs qualify as "maniacal" in my book either.
I would never outlaw the practice, but I think I do use it sparingly, both to avoid silliness and to make it special if and when we do use it.
Did Garfield replace the destroy picture of his mother that was lost when mount just blew up if how ?
Yes. He got another one.
Why did Garfield brine those toy dinosaurs with him when to the cave when he started living at the cave ?
He brought his stuff. Or he got them since arriving.
1. Does magical "affinity" in Young Justice mean that your body can better handle the strain of the mystic energy being channeled through it?
2. If that's the case then does that explain why Giovanni and Zatanna can cast spells without a conduit? Because they have such a high/strong magical affinity?
1. Among other things.
2. Didn't you JUST ask this question. Why are you asking it again?
What's the name of Icon's alien species?
No Spoilers.
Dear Mr. Weisman,
I am a fan of your work who frequents this forum and has studied your work thoroughly. I was looking for information to further my understanding and therefore enjoyment of your work on Young Justice. I tried to find the answer to this question but I could not find any response. I am really, really not trying to nit-pick here but this is something that has been bothering me for a while now.
You were once asked "Do you regard Young Justice's magic as following the same "rules" as Gargoyles's, or did you right it differently?" your very cool response was " More or less." In the Gargoyle series it was necessary for human sorcerer to use a "conduit" in order to generate or summon the mystic energy necessary for casting spells. In contrast The Third Race, who were magical beings, could generate mystic energy of their own, but not without limit.
I understand that Klarion and Dr. Fate are magical beings, that can channel mystic energy from another plane of existence into our world through a physical "anchor." Wotan, Felix Faust, and Blackbriar Thorn are all sorcerers that have lived long enough to figure out a way to general/summon/channel mystic energy without to much trouble and the Atlanteans summon/generate mystic energy via their mystic skin icons that also assist in channeling these energies.
1. My question is how is it that the Zatara family members, Giovanni and his daughter Zatanna, are able to summon mystic energy without the use of a conduit? Wizard used a magic wand and Giovanni used a wand on several occasions is season one but Zatanna is constantly casting spells seemingly with words alone.
2. Are they using a conduit we cannot see?
3. Are they somehow magical in nature?
4. Are they somehow just so talented and physically strong that they are able to endure the bodily strain of conducting mystic energy through themselves without a conduit like The Magus did on Avalon? I would think that that would be extremely exhausting even considering they're younger than The Magus was at the time of his death.
5. Could you please explain magical "affinity?" At this point I am running off of the assumption that it means natural-born talent for magic.
I just want to know what's happening. I'm sorry if the magical beings question counts as a spoiler, but I think it is valid in this case.
1. He's using the words as his conduit.
2. Yes. But you can hear it.
3. Watch Season Four.
4. See above.
5. Largely, yes.
Why in season 2 episode 7 when Wally and Artemis kissed Nightwing looked away? But not just looked away he looked surprised and then looked away with a frown.
Listen I know you don't try make traught a thing but some of the things you put on the show making us believe Dick likes Artemis. Just go to a fan page or tumblr and you'll see so many proves of this ship.
I think you're misinterpreting the visual. I don't see what you're seeing.
And Dick DOES like Artemis - as a friend.
Buy, well.. Your Mileage May Vary.
What were dates of M'gann visits to Garfield in the young justice timeline after the Janunary /16/2011 murder of Marie Logan ? This is before he live at the cave.
I'm not going to give you specific dates and tie my hands for the sake of an ASK GREG post.
What year did Garfield Logan receive his A designation ? His B designation is B19.
He never had an A designation.
Did M'gann go to Marie Logan's funeral ?
Yes.
What was the year Garfield started call Martian Manhunter as Uncle John ? How does Martian Manhunter feel about the fact Garfield call him uncle John ?
1. Probably around the time he moved into the Cave.
2. Uncle J'onn's fine with it. He's a pretty easy-going sort.
Did Garfield have many friends his age play with at the place he live at were MISS MARTIAN visit him after his mom died or did he keep to himself ? Did Garfield relive the event of finding his dead mom like he did in episode Earthlings ?
1. I think he largely hung out with the Doom Patrol, but he might have had some friends his own age.
2. Ever? Almost definitely.
Was Garfield anger or disappointed that M'gann who uses the Megan Morse form did not adopt him as her brother soon after her graduation from Happy Harbor High School ?
No. I think he was with Rita when Megan graduated. She visited plenty, anyway.
1. You said that Demona would have 4 or 5 great loves total. Does that number include the one-sided romantic relationships she's been in? Like the Paris romance with Macbeth and her romance with Thailog, in which only one partner genuinely loved the other.
2. You said that Demona's clan, between 1040 and 1057, often slept at Castle Moray but never all at once. What was the reason for that? Was Demona's distrust of humans a factor?
2b. What was Demona's primary residence during that time?
3. When Demona is human during the day, does she experience any psychological changes due to her being fully human? The human hormones, instincts, etc... do they affect her perceptions/interests/attractions in any way?
4. Between 1040 and 1057, did Demona have anyone other than Macbeth, human or gargoyle, that she was friends with? Was there anyone as close or closer to her than him?
Thank you. :)
1. I don't think I said that. Can you give me a reference? I definitely wouldn't count what we've seen of either Macbeth or Thailog in Paris.
2. Yes.
2b. Castle Moray.
3. Not that she'd acknowledge.
4. No spoilers.
Was every human relative of Garfield Logan dead when Megan Morse became his guardian ?
Marie, if she had any relatives, chose not to leave Gar with them. Instead, she chose his godmother Rita Farr. When Rita died, Miss Martian took Gar in. No one challenged that until years later, when Steve Dayton claimed custody on the basis of being Rita's husband.
Another YJ question, the most important of all:
Is Wolf a good boy?
I think so.
Hoy many years had M'gann been shapeshifting into Megan Mores when she was still living on MARS?
Since 1979 - though her degree of proficiency would have improved over the years.
Hey Greg, might I get the names of the animators and artists for YJ? I would like to thank them for all that they've done for the show.
Check out the credits, dude.
Does young justice invasion Bumblebee know Clark Kent is Superman ?
Probably. Haven't really thought about it.
These questions pertain to Dick and Zatanna, and were not asked, as far as I can see, having looked for these questions.
1. Because Dick and Wally, as well as Zee and Artemis were best friends, in addition to Dick and Artemis being good friends, is it safe to assume the four of them went on double dates when the former couple was still an item?
2. How do you think Zatara would view their relationship?
3. Now knowing that Dick both lied to her about her best friend's death and used her to further the faking of Artemis' aforementioned death (I'd like you to know, I'm NOT saying his actions weren't justified, they were), does Zatanna now look at Dick in a new light?
4. Is it safe to assume the breakup was one without conflict? I ask because they're on oddly good terms with each other(better than my friends, at least).
5. Finally, I've always wondered: did you ever notice the coincidence that both Zee and Dick are or have been performers at some point?
Thank you, have a nice day.
1. I think so.
2. Do you mean IF he was free of the Helmet?
3. I'm not sure about a "new light". She knew him pretty well already. I'm not saying she's happy about all of this. But she understands.
4. Depends on how you define "conflict," I guess.
5. Yes. Not sure it is a coincidence.
With Garfield, the form he uses most has a tail, is that his base form or just a form he likes using the most? if its the latter, would he be able to change it permanantly? for Example, making it so that his default form has wings instead of the tail?
I think you saw that he CAN turn back into a (green-skinned) normal boy in episode 203.
When do you estimate Young Justice: Outsiders will premiere?
I estimate January 2019!
Phew. Hope I get that right. ;)
How long does it normally take you to answer a question on this website?
Uh... I'm not sure if there's a typical answers. It took me nearly four years this time. I've been faster in the past. I may also have been even slower in the past. But I hope not.
Mr. Greg Weisman,
this is not a question, I just would like to recommend three books to you if you want to understand Korean culture and Korean stories. I apologize if this is unwanted information. Maybe I am already telling you what you know.
Barbara DeMick has written Nothing to Envy.
The Cleanest Race by Myers will be relevant because of the Pukhan clan's location...probably. I think.
Most of all, for the mythology,
Ilyeon (2006) Overlooked Historical Records of the Three Korean Kingdoms, translated by Kim Dal-Yong. Jimoondang: Seoul, Korea. ISBN 89-88095-94-4
Ilyon (1972; 2006) Samguk Yusa: Legends and History of the Three Kingdoms of Ancient Korea, translated by Tae-Hung Ha and Grafton K. Mintz. Yonsei University Press: Seoul, Korea. ISBN 1-59654-348-5
Thanks, CuriousKorean. I'm not researching this stuff right now, but it's good to have these recommendations, if and when. I truly appreciate it.
Dear Mr. Greg Weisman,
Korea and Japan have very ancient blood ties and cultural relationships even if often we fought. Our two cultures and philosophies have a lot in common. Buddhism came to Japan through Korea, and Buddhism shaped a lot of bushido although that was not the only part.
Do any connections in genetics or in cultural contact exist between the Ishimura clan and the Pukhan clan?
I apologize if this is a spoiler request.
Warm regards.
The short answer is yes. But beyond that, I'm going to call this a spoiler request. Sorry.
Dear Mr. Greg Weisman,
though I am no longer in Korea I am homesick for my old country and I cherish its old stories and old folk tales. Rhelasia is in YJ but it is not the same because, I feel it is a stand-in for modern Korea, not Korea's past. So far anyways. I am sorry if my personal interpretation is offending you in any way.
the gargoyles wiki and the Pukhan Clan (we now would say Bukhan) archives I read carefully first. It appearing that nobody has to have asked about the Korean clan of gargoyles in more than 6 years.
The specific Korean legends that Mr. Frank Paur told you are not specified. Very few details are given. I do not know what part of my ancestoral mythology is being involved. I have questions about how the Korean clan and its relationships to Korean history and modern Korea happened but I don't ask for them to be asked now.
Please, I am curious to know what Korean legends exactly were related to you by Mr. Paur. Can you at least give us the gist or the theme of the story, or the legendary punchline? Many of the old stories are moral fables.
Or give any information about the Korean clan you feel like sharing, what makes their culture different with regards to other gargoyle cultures.
It is OK if you do not want to share anything. I have one more question but i will make it a separate post in case I break any of the rules by mistake.
My best regards to you and your great work.
Not offended. No worries.
Rhelasia is modeled a bit on Korea, but it's NOT Korea. And there is ALSO a North and South Korea in the YJ Earth-16 Universe.
I appreciate your questions about the Bukhan/Pukhan clan. I don't remember exactly which legends Frank told me about, and I would have - or hopefully some day still will - do research on those before I actually write anything about them. But I haven't done that research yet.
There's more I could share, I suppose, about the Clan, but, as always, NO SPOILERS.
I was wondering if the was more planned for Disney's Bonkers, had it gone the original route with Miranda Wright as his partner from the start?
I even did a video speculating on this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0BxNcKCHQk
I'm sure we had a lot planned. But it was SO long ago...
Regarding Spectacular Spider-Man (I don't know if you still take these questions but I'm gonna try), I've seen reviewers talk about how season one talks about Consequences, while season two is about Change and maturity, I would only like to know if there is some sort of pattern to these themes, like if both of them are part of stages of some sort of human development or anything, and also what themes would you like to have incorporated in the following seasons.
I don't know if this is a previous answered question but after searching through the archives I wasn't able to find one.
Thank you, love all your work and hope you have a good day.
The fact that reviewers talk about something doesn't mean it matches with our intent.
I'd say Consequences, Change and Maturity are themes of both seasons, and would have been themes of any other seasons, had we gotten to make them.
The major theme of the entire series was "The Education of Peter Parker". Individual arcs had their own themes, too. Biology, Economics, etc.
What happen Garfield's pet monkey after Marie death?
No spoilers.
Does Beast Boy know Nightwing was the first hero robin ?
Yep.
In the Young Justice universe do gods such as Zeus and Isis use magic or is it just energy based powers that are their own and is just perceived as such?
Um... what's the difference?
Did Garfield live at mount justice for most of the years of the five year gape between young justice and young justice invasion ?
He lived with his mom in Qurac until she was murdered. Then he lived with Rita and the Doom Patrol until they died. Then he lived with M'gann at Mount Justice until that blew up. Then, after he was rescued from the Reach, he lived briefly in Bludhaven in Nightwing's temporary base for the Team. Then he lived with his step-foster-father Steve Dayton somewhere in Los Angeles. Then after they had made some real money on Space Trek 3016, they moved to Brentwood. Then he legally became an emancipated minor and moved to the Premiere Building in Hollywood.
How old Aquaman and Mera was when they became husband and wife?
I don't seem to have nailed down in the timeline exactly what year they were married. Sorry.
1) As of Invasion, is Miss Martian able to read peoples minds without them being aware of it? Was it a lack of skill that prevented her from doing so in season one, or is it just not how her power works?
2) Can J'onn read peoples minds without them being aware of it?
1. Her ability to read a mind without the other person noticing is totally dependent on who that other person is.
2. His ability to read a mind without the other person noticing is totally dependent on who that other person is.
What are Brandon's responsibilities on YJ, specifically? What does his job consist of?
EVERYTHING.
In theory, I'm in charge of Writing and Voice. He's top dog on Design and Direction. We both cover post.
But Brandon and I are full partners in every sense. We both break the stories together. And we both write individual episodes. I story edit every script, whether it's written by Brandon, one of our freelancers, or myself. But Brandon gives notes on every script.
We both supervise voice recordings. We both supervise boards, animatics and all designs. We both do post-production together. Because I'm color deficient, Brandon handles Quantel without me. But the rest we do together. Brandon can also draw, so he does some frame corrections and other improvements I could never do.
Plus, he's smarter than I am. He's irreplaceable. I'm largely irreplaceable. Largely.
Hi Greg. When Uncle Ben appeared in Peter's mind to help him fight the symbiote, was that Peter's mind manifesting as someone he loved, or was Uncle Ben really helping Peter from beyond the grave?
The former.
(Or so we've been led to believe!!!!)
I remember reading your mini run with The Amazing Spider-man.
Would you be open to doing a one off comic. I'd love to see you do something with Superman and Batman in the comics, like a fun one off. Like Max Landis does
"mini run"? I wrote half of one issue. That's VERY mini.
I'd love to do more comics work for the big two. I haven't been invited.
1. Where did Red Tornado get the key to the Tower of Fate?
2. Why did Red Tornado just happen to have the key on his person? Was he going to investigate by himself?
3. Is Icicle Jr. technically a metahuman?
4. Did Captain Cold ever form the Rogues?
5. Why did Kid Flash run the heart across America instead of the Flash, who is exponentially faster and could have done it in less time?
1. From Kent Nelson.
2. He was about to go investigate. Kent had given him the key for safe-keeping.
3. Probably.
4. No spoilers.
5. Batman made a call that he needed Flash on the Ice-Fortress mission.
Did you have to make changes to the young justice timeline since young justice invasion air ?
Since it aired? No.
Do you mean "Since we made it?"
Additions, yes. "Changes"? Not really. Corrected some typos. Got more specific about certain things. Etc.
Hey Greg I wanna say congratulations on season 3 of YJ! It's my favorite show and i'm so excited it got renewed.
1. Is Barry Allen's mother dead?
2. Is Barry Allen's father in jail?
3. Is Plastic Man as ridiculously durable as he is in the comics? i.e. could he survive being scattered across the ocean floor for thousands of years?
4. What does the "G" in G. Gordon Godfrey stand for?
5. Did anyone ever figure out which Wildstorm character made a cameo in season 1? (If not, I swear I will trawl through every single episode until I find them)
1. No Spoilers.
2. No Spoilers.
3. I wouldn't think so.
4. Glorious, I suppose.
5. Not that I know of.
