I love Demona from Gargoyles and I love kickass redheads. I'm just curious, what was Demona's favourite century to live in?
I don't know. She probably THINKS that she thinks that the tenth century was the best.
First off, I'd like to thank you for a great run on shows. I've been a fan since I was watching Gargoyles as a kid.
Second, I have just one question for you. In some versions of the character, Captain Marvel is shown to have the six figures that empower him communicating him after he transforms into the Big Red Cheese. Whether it's actual conversations, general feelings, talking to him in Billy's dreams, or just whispering advice and commands into his head, it's there. Then again, in some versions there isn't any kind of communication and they just give him their powers.
Does this occur in this version of the good Captain?
SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
Hi Greg.
I have three questions concerning Revelation.
1. It was only after Ivy's plant was blown up by Robin, that Count Vertigo gave orders to kill the team. Obvious reason aside (we won't have a show if he killed them at the start), why did he bother to take them prisoner? Assuming he planned to use them as superhuman shields against the JLA, why did the calculus change once the plant was gone? Wouldn't the team be more valuable as hostages to use as a bargaining chip for safe passage?
2. You have provided a list of incantations in a previous post (http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/search.php?qid=13947), but it does not include the spell Wotan used to strengthen Ivy's baby. I am hearing "Ra letu do, ut seo!" which Google Translate renders as "Bestow death's role as a sphere", but I would love some official confirmation.
3. "Coldhearted" shows Count Vertigo calling in favors from the Light, presumably in exchange for services rendered in Revelation. Vandal Savage's personal involvement implies that Vertigo was fully aware of his acting as a proxy for the Light. Events in "Misplaced" indicate Wotan was aware of this as well, since he was aiding Klarion. Were the other conspirators (Black Adam, Poison Ivy, Atomic Skull, Ultra-Humanite, and especially Joker) aware of this as well?
Thanks!
1. I'll chose to leave this to your interpretation.
2. The spell was "Valetudo ut sero!" I can't seem to find the translation at the moment.
3. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
Hi Greg!
I just finished watching Coldhearted, and thought it was great (as was Misplaced, BTW... loved Billy). I was expecting Wally to have a bigger reaction to the reveal of Miss M and Superboy's relationship, but this made perfect sense, demonstrating the superficiality of his feelings. The episode's final act was especially well-written, I thought... I was suckered into believed that the queen was dead BOTH times! My only small complaint is Wally's final line... bit of a groaner. But he is kind of a cheeseball, so I guess it fits.
A couple questions:
1. Do Conner Kent and Megan Morse have legal guardians? If so, can you tell us who they are?
2. I assume you get first dibs on which episodes you get to write. Were there any you were especially excited about? Were there any you wanted to write but couldn't, for whatever reason?
Thanks for your time!
1. ASKED AND ANSWERED.
2. ASKED AND ANSWERED.
Is there any character from a comic, book, movie, or other form of media that you just don't like but everyone else seems to?
Yes.
What other subjects was Conner "taught" while he was at CADMUS?
I'm not providing a list, but he's well-versed in history, geography, mathematics, languages and the sciences, etc.
Hey Greg I'm a huge fan of your work and
I'm a huge fan of the spectacular spiderman
out of curiousity could you tell me what would have happens in season 3
if the show had continued I'd really appriciated
from your biggest fan Miten Dama
Greg Weisman says:
"As I've stated MANY times before, I don't see any advantage TO ME in vomiting out what my plans would have been absent the execution of said plans. All that accomplishes is to hold the ideas out for all sorts of second guessing."
[Response recorded May 5, 2011.]
Even if the season 2 vol1 didn't sell very many copies doesn't mean you can't release the rest of the season there are people out there who would buy the rest of the seasons like myself I Love gargoyles an I wish you would have released these an you still should right now you can't watch them anywhere except on tv an they come on at 4 in the morning that's unfair. If you could please release DVDs of gargoyles season 2 vol2 an season 3 the chronicles of Goliath please it would be greatly appreciated..!!
Greg Weisman says:
"No new news that I know of. And, no, I seem to have no sway, I'm afraid."
[Response recorded January 19, 2012.]
Allow me to shower you with praise. Coldhearted was excellent. I cannot believe I ignored this show until my nephew wanted to watch it one day. At first I was skeptical, that "just another kid cartoon" feeling, so I was only half paying attention. But something got to me and I started watching it seriously. And now, here I am, looking forward to it every week with enough enthusiasm to now get me out of bed on a Saturday morning. Cartoon Network needs to stop throwing hiatuses at you, this show is too good for that.
My nephew is five and loves the show too, though he doesn't always understand what's going on. But, he's five, so I do my best to explain things in ways he can understand. I'm glad there's a show that he likes that enriches him rather than just keeps him occupied, and it's something we can watch together(seriously, most of his other shows make me want to pull my hair out)
So thank you for making this show.
You're very welcome!
Firstly, I would like to say I am a Brobdingnagian fan of Young Justice. My best friend calls my adoration for your show a disturbing obsession, I chose to ignore that interruption because it implies that my love for the show is somehow unhealthy, and that's just ridiculous. After all my best friend also questioned my love of W.I.T.C.H, so clearly he can't understand. But on a serious note, I am truly grateful for all the work and creativity you and your team put into the show. As someone who grew on the Justice League Unlimited am so glad there is finally a show like it, but yet so different and fresh. The quality of the writing and animation make Young Justice so much more than just a cartoon, it is quality storytelling and a heck of a good time.
My question is on the Young Justice comic tie-ins. During the break between season 1 and season 2, will the comic continue coming out or will it also take a break?
On a side note, am from a small country called Zambia in Southern Africa; so Mr Weisman, take pride in knowing that even in this small corner of the world, your show has an obsessed fanboy.
There really was - as it turns out - any break between the airing of Seasons One and Two. The comic's still going, break free also.
And thanks!
So I saw recent promotional (obviously preliminary and non-canon, I have read your previous posts) artwork. I am impressed.
The rest of this season and next are going to be AWESOME, aren't they?
I like to think so.
Hello Greg! I was wondering, how exactly did Kid Flash and Artemis end up in that shack in the first place? (in Bereft)
After getting zapped, they stumbled off into the desert. KF woke up first and found this masked girl (Artemis) unconscious in the desert, so he pulled her into the shack to get her (and him) out of the heat.
Who are the light archenemies?
I don't understand the question.
If we had seen Wally open his presents in "Coldhearted," what would he have received?
I'll leave that to your imagination.
were the ice "fortresses" in Coldhearted named after Fortress-1 and Fortress-2?
Not particularly, but maybe that was in my subconscious somewhere.
I loved 'Misplaced', I think it was the best episode of the series yet. Some questions about it then.
1) In 'Misplaced', there's a scene where Billy Batson climbs a fence to get in that airbase... and then the 'camera' zooms out, and we see there's a wide-open door to that fence, only 10 meters away or so.
I laughed out loud when I noticed it, but if it was intentional it was played so subtly that I didn't *actually* notice it when I first watched the ep.
So my question: Was that an intentional visual joke, or just a goof of the animation?
2) Was the character of Amber a pre-existing character from the Captain Marvel comics, or a new creation?
3) Was she friends/acquaintances with Billy Batson, or did he just meet her in the ep?
1. Of course, it was intentional.
2. She was pre-existing, though not from Captain Marvel comics specifically.
3. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
Hi, firstly I wanted to say I really love the series and YJ has come back with two great episodes! Misplaced and Coldhearted were wonderful, and I loved how you developed the relationship between Zatanna and Zatarra, as well as getting a more indepth look into Wally. So excited for the rest of the season!
I have one question, I read somewhere that the story taking place in Young Justice would take place over a few days in-universe, is this true? I'm not really sure if this counts as requesting a spoiler (which probably sound stupid), but if so then I apologise.
If you've been watching the series, you KNOW that the first season took place over a single period of six months, between Independence Day and New Year's Eve.
And as I've already stated here and in the press, the second season ALSO takes place over a coherent six month period: between New Years Day and Independence Day. It's just that five years pass in between the two six month periods.
And I'm warning you now: our plans for Season Three - if we get one - involve another time skip between the last episode of Season Two and the first of Season Three. Though, I'm not going to state how long a time skip. (So don't ask.)
Dear Greg, Just watched the newest episode of YJ off dvr today, and wow that was good. First off, thank you for finally clueing Wally in to Conner & Megan's relatuionship, and for giving him some real growth this episode. I mean, he's fun and all, I love him, but he needed this episode. And I like the return of Vandal & Vertigo, awesome. Please keep up the good work!
Thanks!
1. What happened to Blackbriar Thorn, Felex Faust, Wizard, and Wotan at the end of Misplaced?
2. Do the Green Lantern's on Earth have a distinct style of how they use their constructs? If so how would you describe them.
3. Does the Brain have a hero/heroine that he goes up against more often then he does others?
1. Doctor Fate went off with them.
2. To some extent.
2a. I'll let the show speak for itself on this point.
3. This question makes me shrug.
Two things:
1. Who was the cop so eager to see the Flash (I assume he thought it was the Flash) in Chicago?
2. I'm really enjoying that you set the actions in specific dates. For example, now I know Wally is fellow Scorpio! (My birthday is November 5th which also happens to be the date of Misplaced, my favorite episode so far)
1. Are you talking about the two National Guardsmen outside Chicago?
2. Most (though not all) of the dates are the birthdates or anniversaries, etc. of my relatives.
I noticed that on this week's Young Justice episode "Coldhearted" that Batman explained that Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and John Stewart were 'offworld' and unable to help. Now that there's a GL:TAS airing with YJ on DC Nation, are you prevented from using GL associated characters on YJ? If so, is it a similar situation to the 'bat embargo' that was placed on Justice League Unlimited when The Batman started airing?
No, not at all. There's no embargo. I'll admit that we often use the excuse (especially in Season One) of our Lanterns being offworld - but it's because they're SO powerful, they could potentially solve all problems between the two of them. But I also feel in-universe justified about this, because they have an entire sector to police, not just Earth.
where were all the ice fortresses located, hovering over particular cities? or were they mobile to cover more ground. was the entire USA covered, or only the northern half?
I think all that information is IN the episode itself, between dialogue and timestamps. (And all I'd be doing is going through the script and looking at dialogue and timestamps, so I think you can manage it by looking at the episode.)
Pretty much all of North America's weather patterns were affected between the antics of the five fortresses.
In downtime, it was revealed that Aqualad does not live in Atlantis since joining the team. I was wondering, where does he live while on the surface? cuz it was never implied that he lives in mount justice and I dont believe that he does.
And i was also wondering, why didn't he just remain in Atlantis and continue his studies there, inbetween his missions? Everyone except Miss M and Superboy still live in their homes, continue their schoolwork, and can travel via Zeta tubes to the base. Why can't Aqualad also stay in Atlantis, practice in his sourcery school, and travel via Zeta tubes to the base, when almost all the other members already do that already?
Greg Weisman says:
"Kaldur lives in Shayeris. He wasn't absent from Atlantis for a while, he was absent from Poseidonis for awhile. For more on this, check out issues 14 and 15 of the Young Justice Comic Book."
[Response recorded on January 9, 2012.]
If spectacular spider-man continued would you have mention any other Marvel heroes like the fantastic four?
Greg Weisman says:
"I would like to do the occasional team-up. I think I've mentioned Spidey/Human Torch and Spidey/Hulk in the past, just to start with. But one or two per season is plenty for me. I've got more than enough to explore in Spidey's corner of the Marvel Universe."
[Response recorded on April 7, 2009.]
"All answered before, but now rendered moot."
[Response recorded on April 26, 2010.]
I'll be honest, this is a SPOILER REQUEST. But it's a very minor one, so I'll ask anyway and hope that you answer: Will we see The Light in Young Justice: Invasion?
Greg Weisman says:
"...Miguel Ferrer as Vandal Savage..."
[Response recorded May 14, 2012.]
Hey, just wondering but have you guys cast Blue Beetle for Young Justice or is he just gonna be a toy only character?
Greg Weisman says:
"...Eric Lopez as Blue Beetle..."
[Response recorded on April 30, 2012.]
why did you change captain marve's voice actor from rob lowe to chad lowe?
Greg Weisman says:
"Rob was no longer available, and Chad - with Rob's blessing - kindly stepped in."
[Response recorded on April 24, 2012.]
Hey, Mr. Weisman, watched Agendas earlier today, and was wondering: What about Blue Devil? I didn't catch him in the whole League conversation. Was he considered?
GREEN ARROW: "If we're considering Blue Devil, then I nominate Red Arrow."
[From "Young Justice" episode 122, "Agendas." Originally aired March 24, 2012.]
Oh, I forgot one.
You said the scars on Vandal Savage's face were part of Phil's original design. Did HE find influence in the Hunters from Gargoyles or not? Or do you not know?
Greg Weisman says:
"Phil Bourassa came up with the scars in his orignial design for the character, declaring they were the result of a fight with a cave bear. They have nothing to do with GARGOYLES."
[Response recorded on January 20, 2012.]
After the events of "Misplaced" does Zatara receive a new Justice League identification number, now that he is Doctor Fate?
COMPUTER: "Recognized...Icon, Two-Zero. Doctor Fate, One-Seven. Captain Marvel, One-Five."
[From "Young Justice" episode 126, "Auld Acquaintance." Originally aired April 21, 2012.]
Alright, I'm probably overthinking this, but I was curious about how the spell in "Misplaced" worked. It split the world into two dimensions, one for adults and one for children. I assumed it was based on physical difference (which is why the ageless Klarion ended up with the children and Billy-as-Captain-Marvel went with the adults). But Amber switching over at midnight once she turned 18 seemed to throw that out the window. So, was it simply psychological? Did Klarion and the others designate 18 as an arbitrary "cutoff point" for adulthood when casting? Or is it something else entirely?
(Again, probably overthinking, but it's been bothering me. Oh, and great job on the show, of course. I'm really loving it!)
Greg Weisman says:
"Perception."
[Response recorded on April 13, 2012.]
As far as the series is going right now scale of 1 to 10 what do you think the odds of Conner recieving his Kryptonian name are?
(P.S-if you flag this as a spoiler i will leave several angry e-mails related to every website related to you i can find.)
SUPERMAN: "However long it takes to clear our names, Kon-El."
[From "Young Justice" episode 203, "Alienated." Originally aired May 12, 2012.]
hi!if you get to my question thanks or answering.so I was wondering if young justice goes well, will there be another or 2 seasons?please respond and thanks for answering!and love the work on young justice,I liked that part in images when you and another guy whiched your last names and put them in the "Hello Megan" thing
Greg Weisman says:
"We receive feedback from Cartoon Network all the time, but 'feedback' and a 'pick-up' are two different things. In theory, they could pick the show up at any time, but I don't expect any definitive answer for weeks, if not months."
[Response recorded on May 14, 2012.]
Okay, just saw Image.....and it sort of showed that Megan was not the mole that Sportsmaster and the Light mentioned, yet Queen Bee seems to be trying, as Megan did not say yes or no.....to get her own. Does that mean that the Light is trying to rip the team apart themselves....with their own moles? And, if this shows that Megan is not the mole........then who is? The last one is retorical, as I know you will not say.
Um....is it too much to ask as to possibly verify that Megan was not the mole that Sportsmaster and the Light said so earlier?
Greg Weisman says:
"...the RECENTLY REVEALED MOLE , Red Arrow..."
[Response recorded April 16, 2012.]
hey greg let me down the big fan of your shop I was wondering since we seen kid flash get his own little episode and we're going to see it miss martian Artemis and Connor get own episodes will we see robin get his little episode as well ? Robin first introduced me into the super hero world and so I am I really like and then you've done a really great job bringing jesse mccartney into it and it's superb. it seems like you're not using him as much as the other members came and robin is just so great how you've created him I wanna see more and more of robin that's my question will we see more Robin ? thank you
for you to answer this if you don't you're busy and so I understand. please I'm sorry if this is a spoiler but I didn't think it would be so thank you for reading
Greg Weisman says:
"Hey gang,
This coming Saturday, April 7th on Cartoon Network's DC NATION is episode 124 of YOUNG JUSTICE: 'Performance.' It's focus is on Robin, his origins and one of his oldest friends. Plus we've got a nice little Superboy subplot, Red Arrow's second mission with the Team and much, much more. The whole block (which also includes Green Lantern and some terrific shorts) repeats again on Sunday the 8th. Check local listings for times."
[Response recorded April 5, 2012.]
What did Zatanna say in Misplaced when she was fighting the Ice Fortress?
Greg Weisman says:
"Erif nrub, nordlauc elbbub!"
[Response recorded on April 11, 2012.]
Mr. Weisman, could you tell me please how old Garfield Logan is at this point? Thank you.
MARIE LOGAN: "He's eight, he doesn't do orders!"
[From "Young Justice" episode 121, "Image." Originally aired March 17, 2012.]
Have you ever considered doing a Justice League spinoff from young justice or at leats using the same style of animation as young justice?
Greg Weisman says:
"Yes."
[Response recorded on April 12, 2012.]
Hello Greg,
First let me say that I love Young Justice. My question is: Does the Bialya Queen Bee we see on the show have any powers?
Greg Weisman says:
"She made the master villain list, and she seemed to be a nice fit with the others. Much as I love Marina, casting didn't play into it at that stage. Her being the dictator of a country, HER POWERS, her being female all played in."
[Response recorded on April 12, 2012. Emphasis added by moderator.]
Hello Greg,
In "Coldhearted", Batman mentioned that "both Green Lanterns were offworld". But we have seen three Green Lanterns. John Stewart in multiple episode, Guy Gardner in "Revelation", and Hal Jordan in the simulation in "Failsafe". You could also count Alan Scott from flashbacks. Could he have meant that there are two Green Lanterns that are officially part of the JLA? Could it be because Batman does not like one of the Green Lanterns, a "One-Punch incident"? Or could it be a mistake by one of the scriptwriters?
Greg Weisman says:
"Guy's not a member of the League, and Batman has no jurisdiction over him or consistent way to track his whereabouts, especially if Guy's offworld."
[Response recorded on May 10, 2012.]
Hello, there!
Your works never stop to amaze me.
I have a question, though:
In the episode 20 of Young Justice we see an attempt against princess Perdita's live by her uncle, Count Vertigo. But we do see another attempt against her in the Green Arrow Showcase that accompanies Superman/Batman: Apocalypse. My question is: Does this two murder attempts occur in the same universe (and by extent, the Supes/Bats movie), Earth-16?
Thank you for your attention, keep up the good work!
Greg Weisman says:
"Yes and no. The short isn't canon, but the Earth-16 version of those events will eventually appear in our companion comic."
[Response recorded on May 8, 2012.]
How old is Serifan?
How old is Dreamer?
How old is Beluga Boy?
How old is Commissioner Gordon?
How old is T.O. Morrow?
Thx!
Serifan and Dreamer are New Gods. Ages don't apply.
Beluga Boy was a background character, not on my list or timeline. I don't have an age for him.
James Gordon is 49 in "Misplaced".
The real T.O. Morrow is 100 in "Humanity" and "Insecurity".
1. How did scott, stewart, and gardner got their rings and who cureently has scott's ring?
2. How did sportsmaster get involved with the league of shadows and are he and the riddler friends and have they ever fought batman?
1. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
2. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
2a. They seem to get along well enough.
2b. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
Hi Greg,
Loving Young Justice up here in Canada!!! We are expecting our first son in April and I have all the episodes taped for when he is old enough to watch them.
My question is how often do you receive feedback from the Cartoon Network? When would you know whether to begin on season 3? Keep up the awesome work!
We receive feedback from Cartoon Network all the time, but 'feedback' and a 'pick-up' are two different things. In theory, they could pick the show up at any time, but I don't expect any definitive answer for weeks, if not months.
how can perdida be queen at 10? does she have regents? should not vertigo be one of them?
is vltaba absolute monarchy or consitutinoal?
is vertigo her fathers brother?
is the sohwcase of green arrow canon in young justice
why does she look difrent?
1. She inherited the crown from her father.
1a. I'm sure she does.
1b. For obvious reasons, that's not a great idea.
2. Probably some degree of constitutional but more absolute than most modern monarchies.
3. Probably, but I haven't nailed it down in my own head yet.
4. ASKED AND ANSWERED.
5. It's the Young Justice version of the same character.
Again, really great work by you and your cast and crew on Young Justice. Just looking to eat up some more of your time with questions and commentary.
1. I liked your take on the Riddler; the jacket and tie is a nice change from the suit or spandex with bowler that he typically wears. I also thought it did a great job of showing a casualwear look that is still leaves him instantly recognizable.
2. This might just be me reading too closely into things but I noticed that the designs for the Joker and Riddler seem to take cues from musical subcultures. The Joker's design seems to me very Mod inspired while the Riddler wouldn't look out of place in a rockabilly band. Was this an intentional design choice or a simple coincidence?
1. Thanks. All credit for that should go to Phil Bourassa and Brandon Vietti. My only contribution was to say, "Cool!"
2. You'd have to ask Phil.
Hi Greg, thanks for taking the time to answer this!
Just watched Coldhearted and it was epic. I loved how we got to see more of Wally's badass side. But I was wondering where Roy was since he didn't show up at Wally's birthday party?
Otherwise occupied.

I know I'm probably forgetting some folks, and I REALLY apologize! If you send me a reminder, I'll pimp you in another post!
I've been a fan of the new 52 and I was wondering if there are any plans to incorporate the new universe by any means into Young Justice.
I do know a similar question was asked if new 52 will change the whole YJ and you said no, but I'm wondering if there would be any elements taken from the current comics in future seasons or would you guys rule out the possibilities?
Also, I'm wondering if the team only accepts legacy characters like kid flash, aqualad, red robin and heroes like that because all the current heroes have their adult counterpart, so I'm wondering if it is a criteria to join the team only if they're connected to the Justice League.
Lastly, thanks for the great work. I love Young Justice and the only thing that could make it better is that we get even more Young Justice.
Thanks.
1. ASKED AND ANSWERED.
2. We have plenty of ideas for Season Three, but we haven't developed them in any detail, as we don't have a pick-up (at least not yet).
3. There's no charter with rules specifying that.
Quick question about Roy's personality. Is it still similar to the Roy in the comics, in the sense that he's a shameless flirt and a ladies' man? Hopefully that's not a spoiler, lol.
What you see is what you get.
