Did you know that the DVD close captions reveal the identities of L-1, L-6 and L-5? How did this happen?
Also in the captions, when L-6 lists the interferences ran by the Team, he says "Monsieur Twister", but it sounds like he says "Mister". What does he say in fact?
1. They don't consult us is how. There have been SO MANY leaks on this series, it's hard to get too worked up over that one.
2. I think "Monsieur", as I recall.
I've been waiting since December for this. I checked out the second "Young Justice" DVD from the library then, and here's my review of its episodes (almost three months old now, I'm afraid, not fresh).
SCHOOLED: You certainly opened this episode on a surprise. A school bus is in trouble (I noticed, incidentally, that you mentioned that the school bus turns up in other episodes as a running gag, and my immediate thought was "So now 'Young Justice' has its own counterpart to the yuppie couple!"), and the first person whom we see ready to change into super-hero gear and respond is Bruce Wayne! (Obviously he has to be there to see Superman's response to Superboy and talk to him about it later on - but I can't help think that part of the point might also have been to have some fun messing with the viewers' expectations!) Of course, Superman shows up before Bruce can don his bat-gear, but it's still a bit of a shake-up.
A lot of other people have no doubt already mentioned this, but I thought that Bruce and Clark's dessert orders were wonderfully appropriate.
I immediately thought of the Winged Monkeys in "The Wizard of Oz" when Professor Ivo's robot monkeys showed up, especially since they emerged from the cornfield (yes, I know that the cornfield and the winged monkeys are in different parts of "The Wizard of Oz", but it still somehow helped with the imagery). And I loved Professor Ivo's line about how long it took him to come up with the acronym for them.
I'd heard of Amazo before, if just the name (which, in print, looks like it's derived from "Amazon"; fortunately, when pronounced, as in this episode, it's clear that it's derived from "amaze" or "amazing"). Definitely a great idea for a challenging adversary - and I liked how you had the Team take him down, using his own skill against him.
One final delight: Kid Flash getting taken out by Black Canary after he hits on her.
INFILTRATION: Red Arrow's choice for a new name over "Speedy" seemed well-advised to me (apart from his desire to be his own person rather than standing in someone else's shadow). As I mentioned in my review of the first "Young Justice" DVD (and as someone commented in the opening episode), "Speedy" sounds more appropriate for a super-fast super-hero like Kid Flash rather than an archer; with a name like "Red Arrow", it's clear what his skills are. (Artemis likewise chose her super-hero moniker well, a name that also makes it clear - at least, to anyone familiar with Greek mythology - what her skills are.)
The scene where the Team are in telepathic conversation with each other - and soon regret it (as does Dr. Roquette even more) was another hilarious moment. So was Wally suffering through his first day in the new term at his high school while everyone else is having a great time at the beach (is it just me, or is he the natural target for comical humiliation)?
This is a minor issue, but Robin's interest in word-play invites it; when he said that the Fog had decimated Star Labs, I thought that the word "decimated" would have been more appropriate if it had only wiped out 10 percent of the building, rather than the whole thing.
DENIAL: Kent Nelson's voice sounded familiar to me when I watched this, and although I usually don't give too much thought to who voices whom, I decided to pause during the ending credits to check - and, yep, voiced by Ed Asner. Who did a fine job on him, too.
Kent established himself as a great character from the start, first when he tells the phony fortune-teller that if his wife really was trying to contact him from beyond the grave, she'd be telling him off for wasting good money on a fraud rather than uttering the usual "I miss you" cliches (which also establishes her as a great character), and then exposing her tricks.
I'd only seen Klarion before in an episode of "The New Batman/Superman Adventures" (which got my attention because of its Arthurian content; Klarion seized control of an old demon that had served Merlin once through a branding-iron belonging to Morgan le Fay); there he was just a spoiled brat with access to magic. This Klarion, as a Lord of Chaos, is a lot more deadly, outranking the Klarion of "The New Batman/Superman Adventures" the way Voldemort would outrank Draco Malfoy.
And I smiled (if not laughed) when the big action took place in Salem. (Well, where else would a magic-themed super-hero keep his tower?)
Can't help but suspect that Dr. Fate was drawing on Kid Flash's style when his way of defeating Klarion's henchman was to make his outer garments vanish, leaving him in his underwear.
DOWNTIME: I immediately thought when I saw the opening scene, with its gloomy architecture and gargoyles, "Must be Gotham City" - and then a moment later, the caption confirms it.
Another good episode, with its glimpses of the Team's civilian life. I liked Alfred's cameo (he's one of my favorite characters in the "Batman" universe). The scene with Superboy and Miss Martian was funny (particularly Red Tornado's brief visit), though a bit creepy when I began to wonder whether Superboy's watching a blank screen had something to do with his upbringing at Cadmus Labs. And the scene with Wally was, as usual, funny - and also showed that super-speed apparently runs in his family (sorry, that one just slipped out), complete with the family patriarch apparently having been a super-speedster in Kent Nelson's generation.
Two bits in the Atlantis scenes got my attention. The first was when Aqualad and Aquaman were speaking to each other in Atlantean with subtitles; I knew already that their language was based on ancient Greek, and recognized one word from a high school course on Homeric Greek that I'd taken: "anax", meaning "king". It got me wondering whatever became of my textbook for that course (which included the full first book of the Iliad in the original Greek, complete with commentary).
The second was Prince Orm. He says that he doesn't mind not being first in line for the throne now that Aquaman's going to have a son, but I wondered if he meant it. I've seen enough cases of royal treachery from younger brothers who have a nephew standing in front of them in the line of succession (from John Lackland and Richard III down to Scar in "The Lion King") that I wondered if Orm was telling the truth. On the other hand, there've been some loyal "royal uncles" (such as John of Gaunt to Richard II), so I shouldn't be too quick to expect skullduggery from Orm. At any rate, if he shows up in any more episodes, I'm keeping a close eye on him.
So that's my review. I hope I can review episodes 9-12 soon.
Me too! THanks. I'm glad you're enjoying the stuff.
What happens to Robin's grappling guns when he leaves them behind?
He leaves them behind?
Congratulations on the video game. I'm talking about YJ: Legacy, of course. Will the story be canon?
Yes.
When was the android T.O. Morrow created?
Which one?
If Professor Ivo distributed the prison uniforms in the men's wing, who distributed them in the women's wing?
Who was the Black woman sharing a cell with Devastion?
Were all of the inmates at Belle Reve named characters, or were most of them just extras?
1. I seem to recall it being Shimmer.
2. I'd have to look again. I don't remember.
3. Most were name characters, but there were a few extras.
I read somewhere here that the number 16 has some magical meaning on YJ. I know I've seen it in some timestamps and Red Tornado's number is 16. What's it significance? Can you list all its references so far?
1. Decide for yourself.
2. Nope.
You said Superman doesn't have superbreath, but he used it to blow away some monqis in #2.
Are you sure?
Can you please rank the members of the Light by IQ?
No, I cannot. It's not just that I will not - though I won't - but I also can't. I've never really understood IQ numbers or what they mean.
What the names of the songs of Rigoletto featured in SSM "Gangland"? The only ones I recognized were:
"Ella mi fu rapita...Parmi veder le lagrime"
"Duca, duca!"/"Scorrendo uniti"
"Cortigiani, vil razza dannata"
"La donna è mobile"
By the way, I thought it was BRILLIANT of you to use that score diegeticly and extra-diegeticly and extra-diegeticly. It just proves that ANY kind of music can score a fight sequence, not just rock or techno.
How did you think of it?
Will you do some alike in YJ?
1. I'm afraid I don't have access to my old Sony SpecSpidey files here at my WARNER BROS. Young Justice office, and I just don't remember exactly which songs we used.
2. "diegeticly"? Did you mean digitally? I'm not sure what you mean here...?
3. I think that one inspiration was clearly the Godfather movies.
4. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
1)Why is Dinah Lance/Black Canary your favourite DC character?
2)Who is your favourite Marvel character and why?
3)Do you happen to know Brandon Vietti's favourite DC character?
1. To some extent, I'm not sure I have an answer to this. She just... is. But I think it's a combo of factors. Part of it, I'm sure, goes back to the adolescent boy in me that just thought she was hot. (I'm not necessarily proud of this, but I'm not ashamed of it either.) She's a strong, beautiful woman, who holds her own in the company of folks like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, etc. - even without any super-powers. (And you need to keep in mind, I'm old enough to remember a Black Canary who didn't even have a Canary Cry.) She's developed over time into a leader. I also REALLY like her relationship with Green Arrow (though I haven't always liked the way some writers and editors have portrayed it.) I love the martial arts skills, and I love (and even miss a little) her original undercover m.o., i.e. the way she operated as a criminal underworld figure, secretly working on the side of the angels. I mean, the lady kicks ass! What's not to like? Then add in the fact that one of my very first assignments at DC in the eighties was to write a Black Canary mini-series (that never got published). So I feel a personal connection to the character also.
Now, having said all that, there are a TON of DC Heroes that I really love. Black Canary is the first among equals, really.
2. See the last sentence of my previous answer. I don't feel like there's a single character that stands out in the same way for me over at Marvel, though there are many, many, many that I love. Of course, working on Spectacular Spider-Man gave me an insight into Peter Parker that almost qualifies. (Same with Flash Thompson, actually.)
3. Nope, but you can ask him on his website: http://brandonvietti.blogspot.com/
Hey gang,
Tomorrow, Saturday, March 24, 2012 - and repeating again on Sunday - is the American premiere of Young Justice episode 122, "Agendas". This is a BIG story for Superboy - and for the entire JUSTICE LEAGUE, as well, featuring special guest star MAGGIE Q, who absolutely rocks it as WONDER WOMAN! So tune in!
It's so unfair (and frustrating) that other countries aired new episodes before the U.S. does. All the same, I've still been watching the leaked episodes online in Turkish and Portuguese with the occasional fan letting me in on a translation. So I've had some hope in all of this. I know you can't control it, but how do you feel about it all? And, also, thank you in advance for your time!
Greg Weisman says:
"Personally, I think it's bad enough folks are spoiling things FOR THEMSELVES, when they will soon be able to see the episodes in English and at a decent quality within a matter of a few short weeks. (And the blame-Cartoon-Network excuse holds ZERO water for me, as these people are still CHOOSING to view episodes ahead of schedule. No one is holding a gun to their heads.) But the fact that they are spoiling things for folks who are trying NOT to get spoiled is just outrageously obnoxious."
[Response recorded on March 19, 2012.]
Hello greg, i would like to know what year is the young justice and earth-16 set at the moment. Is it 2010 or 2011?
Greg Weisman says:
"We intentionally have NOT put a year on the present day events on the show. There is NO CANON YEAR, as far as I'm concerned.
But the days of the week are based on the 2010 calendar. And in my timeline, now a whopping 185 pages, for purposes of math - relative to events in the past - we're set in 2010."
[Response recorded on November 18, 2011.]
First, thank you for doing this awesome show! I think Young Justice is my favorite DC-show! Also, thank you for taking the time to answer questions of the fans, it's really appreciated :)
What do you think about YJ episodes being released earlier in other countries? Spoilers are out on the Internet, do you think it's spoiling the final or on the contrary it raise the anticipation?

!.How old is rocket?
Greg Weisman says:
"Rocket is 15."
[Response recorded on January 10, 2012.]
So, I'm watching the new episode of Young Justice, and loving Wally's humor as always. Since his birthday is November 11th, what would would be the other characters' birthdays(Just the heroes like Robin, Red Arrow, etc.)? Keep up the amazing work by the way.
Greg Weisman says:
"Some of the birthdays of the Team are SPOILER REQUESTS. Others I just haven't needed to figure out yet."
[Response recorded on February 23, 2012.]
Hello, Greg! I was wondering since Young Justice first aired in 2010 does it still take place in 2010 today or did it change? I've noticed how the episodes are time stamped with months and days but not years, so I was just curious, have a nice day!

I know I'm probably forgetting some folks, and I REALLY apologize! If you send me a reminder, I'll pimp you in another post!
Hello,
I've given the ASK GREG moderators permission to DELETE any question that refers to or spoils episodes of Young Justice that have NOT YET AIRED in the United States.
Personally, I think it's bad enough folks are spoiling things FOR THEMSELVES, when they will soon be able to see the episodes in English and at a decent quality within a matter of a few short weeks. (And the blame-Cartoon-Network excuse holds ZERO water for me, as these people are still CHOOSING to view episodes ahead of schedule. No one is holding a gun to their heads.) But the fact that they are spoiling things for folks who are trying NOT to get spoiled is just outrageously obnoxious.
I'd like the ASK GREG queue to be a safe place. I NEED people to be able to read the queue to see if someone ahead of them has already asked the question they're intending to ask. In fact, I've pretty much DEMANDED that people check the queue before asking a question, so forcing them to check something that will spoil their enjoyment of the series is flat out unfair.
Thus the deletions.
And this is all beside the fact that asking a question HERE at ASK GREG to get an explanation of something in an episode that wasn't understood because it was not in English is, well, IDIOTIC. At the length of the current queue, it'll be months before I get to these questions, and the episodes will air here in the U.S. in a matter of weeks. So by the time I get to these questions, the answers will no longer be required - so all that is really being accomplished is that folks have found yet another way to bog down the queue. In fact, this practice is SO idiotic, I'm having trouble believing the questions are being asked with any sincerity. It seems more like a demonstration of power. Trolling, pure and simple.
Either way - whether this is due to naivete or trolling - please just STOP. Please.
Hey gang,
Tomorrow morning (Saturday, March 17th) Cartoon Network airs YOUNG JUSTICE episode 21, "Image". It also repeats on Sunday morning. (Check local listings for time.) You should really check it out. Big doings, trust me!
Also, Brandon Vietti and I will be at WonderCon in Anaheim tomorrow. We have a signing at the DC Booth at 4pm and a DC NATION panel at 5pm. Major SPOILERS happening at the panel. And I KNOW how much you crazy kids love spoilers. So stop by!
What inspire you to make a new character like Aqualad; in addition, how was he overall fit in the DC universe in your perspective?
Greg Weisman says:
"Well, there were many inspirations. Cal Durham, obviously, but also the Arion series which demonstrated that not all Atlanteans are Caucasian. There was the need for further diversity in the series. And the fact that Garth was dead in the comics (at least for now) and had, in any case, left the name 'Aqualad' behind to become 'Tempest'. So it felt like the name 'Aqualad' was up for grabs. We liked the parallel universe notion of the Road Not Taken for the two characters, leading to an Aqualad /Tempest team-up. It all just seemed... right."
[Response recorded on May 12, 2011.]
Greg Weisman says:
"Our Aqualad, i.e. Kaldur'ahm, was completely created and designed BEFORE Geoff started in his new (now not-so-new) position at DC. So our version of his backstory and wardrobe, etc., all pre-existed Geoff's involvement. The version that he went on to put into DC's main universe, i.e. Jackson Hyde, was completely HIS adaptation of Kaldur (with help from an artist whose name I'm unfortunately blanking on at this moment). And we had NO involvement with that version at all, beyond providing Kaldur as inspiration and providing EXPLANATION of how his Water-Bearers work. The only element we really collaborated on was the identity of both versions' father."
[Response record on January 26, 2012.]
Is Zatara's accent Spanish or Italian?I can't tell.
Greg Weisman says:
"He was born in Italy, but is a naturalized American citizen."

I know I'm probably forgetting some folks, and I REALLY apologize! If you send me a reminder, I'll pimp you in another post!
Episode 20 of YOUNG JUSTICE, i.e. "Coldhearted" airs tomorrow (Saturday, March 10th) on Cartoon Network and repeats on Sunday. Check local cable guides for times.
Please do check it out. It puts the spotlight on Kid Flash, and I think it turned out great.
Does Green Arrow resent Red Arrow for being richer than him (mainly thanks to his own money)? Does he regret putting up a trust fund for him while he now lost his fortune?
No and no.
Do you have ratings figures for each episode that has aired?
Nope.
In Alpha Male when Brain prepares to escape, he starts dispensing sorts of compartments/tools(?) and then he vanished. Did he teleport or did he simply slip away in the darkness? What happened?
The world may never know.
Which Green Lantern helped Batman hollow the Cave out?
How did Red Tornado and Inferno breech security to enter the cave?
What do the tattoos on Harm's face mean?
1. Well, John Stewart is the architect, but Hal might have helped too.
2. If you mean Red TORPEDO and Inferno - ASKED AND ANSWERED.
3. ASKED AND ANSWERED.
In earlier posts you said that Red Tornado pretended to turn against the Team in "Homefront". Why did he do that?
To protect them, as stated in "Humanity".
When Miss Martian defeats Psimon, we see his "pupil" crack into a web-shapped crack that resembles a black web. Was this an intentional nod to SSM?
No.
Why did Klarion chose Abra Kadabra, a fake magitian from all people, to help him kidnap and turture Kent Nelson? Why not a real sorcerer, or why wouldn't he handle it personally?
Kent would not be warned of Abra's approach - nor be readily able to counter Abra's abilities. Plus Abra wanted something from Klarion, which made him easier to boss around. Plus Klarion's unpredictable by design.
Dear Mr Weisman, I wanted to thank you for all your work. I was raised by Gargoyles through my childhood, I also wanted to say I was introduce to Captain Atom through Young Justice, I wondered who that silver man was in the show, so I asked my friends who told me about him. Now I am reading Captain Atom's comics, I love the struggle he goes through maintaing his form and learning all about atoms and their structures.
Young Justice also introduced me to Red Tornado, and I love the character as well. Humanity was such a great episode, just like all the other episodes. I have been introduced to so many characters, that they're too many for me too say, but I am doing research on all of them. Young Justice gave more love of comic books then I already have. Thank you for everything and I can't wait for more episodes of Young Justice.
Wow. Praise-fest today! I'll take it! Thanks!
Dear Mr. Weisman,
Thank you so, so much (as well as everyone else involved, though I kinda want to leave out CN for their hiatuses, kidding, kidding) for Young Justice not only for its great story, characters, and animation, but for its crazy fandom which never stops speculating what other DC heroes are going to show up. I got curious to know more about the heroes everybody wished would eventually show up and wouldn't stop gushing about, so I finally decided to start reading the mainstream comics. It's kinda funny; despite me watching nearly all the DC animated cartoons that have come out, none of them got into interested into getting into the comics themselves. (When Justice League Unlimited came out, I had other responsibilities that prevented me from watching it.) Now there's a bunch of new characters for me to fall in love with (as well as some heartbreak as some of them got shafted in the DCnU. Part of me wants to go up to you and shake you until you get Lian Harper in the show, but I don't think you'd appreciate that.)
Also, thanks to the show, I've met some really fun people online who are fun to talk and discuss geekish things about, and, despite the many pairing wars this show generates, I'm really happy to finally find a fandom with other asexuals in it ^-^.
There's so many questions I have, but I'm willing to wait. Besides, I have to get over my habit of spoiling myself whenever something comes out and ruining the suspense. Great job so far, and I hope the world you've built up keeps on going!
Thanks! Me too!
1)Who is Zatanna's mother and where is she?
2)How ling has Greta been a ghost (AKA dead)?
3)How long has Inza Nelson been dead?
4)Which Green Lanturn did Batman have analyse the Kobra Plants?
5)Has Poison Ivy fought Batman before?
6)Where is Count Vertigo nowadays?
7)What is Harm's real name?
8) Is Selena Gonzalez really dead?
9) Are Jay and Joan's arguments those "thry argue 'cauyse they love each other" types of arguments?
10) Why does every character voiced by Lacey Chabert on your shows end up being bound and gagged?
1. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
2. Not long.
3. Twelve years.
4. As I recall, it was John, wasn't it?
5. Yes.
6. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
7. Billy Hayes.
8. I'd prefer to leave that up to your interpretation.
9. Basically. (But when have you heard them argue?)
10. Geez, dude...
1)Is Robin Aqualad's second in command?
2)Who would you say is Superboy's mentor: Superman or Black Canary?
3)Is Lex Luthor still Superman's archenemy on Earth-16?
4)Did Detective Daniels and the Curator survive their encounter with Harm?
5)Did Cooper, Hart, Abra Kadabra, Biggitz, Devastation, Hook and Ripley survive the taking of Belle Reve?
5.5) Moreover, did Killer Frost kill Hart after she froze "Tuppence Terror" to the wall?
6)Is Earth-16's Hugo Strane obessed with Batman, or at least part of fanclun? (Disclaimer; fanclub part intended as joke)
7)Does Artemus have romantic feeling for Wally?
8)Prior to October 31 2010 9by the YJ wiki calender), how many times had Zatanna been gagged?
9)On Harm's television, Zatanna is bound around her chest and legs. However, after Secret removes her gag, an additional coil of rope is around her waist. What is your response to this?
10)In "Secrets", we clearly hear Zatanna say the spell under her gag. Then why didn't it work; I thought the rule was that as long as she can talk backwards she's a spellcaster?
1. There's no official second-in-command. But Robin tends to naturally fill that role.
2. At the moment, Batman, Black Canary and Red Tornado, plus Aqualad and a bit of a few others as well.
3. Basically.
4. I'll leave that ambiguous.
5. At least one of those did.
5.5. I'll leave that ambiguous.
6. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
7. I'll leave that to your interpretation.
8. Not many... if any.
9. Uh... magic?
10. You "CLEARLY" heard it? I don't think so.
1) Why did Wotan want to blot out the sun?
2) Why was Professor Ivo thought to be dead?
3) Why did Professor Ivo create Amazo?
4) Why dis Klarion want the Helmet of Fate?
5) Did the newspaper in Artemis's apartment in "Downtime" have a pitcure of Earth-16's Bruce Wayne and Harvey Dent in it?
6) Is Sportsmaster Lawrence Crock? (PS: I know this counts as a SPOILER ALERT, I only ask because his action figures bio claims that he is)
7) Where were Artemis Robin and Kid Flash during "Targets" and "Terrors"?
8) What happened between Professor Ojo and Icicle Jr.?
9) How did Red Torpedo and Red Inferno bypass the Cave's security system?
10) Were the Injustice League aware they were set up to take the fall for the Light?
11) What do the claw marks on Harm's face mean?
1. Mostly as a distraction.
2. He had faked his death.
3. To prove he could.
4. To permanently neutralize Nabu.
5. I didn't see that.
6. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
7. See issues 16 and 17 of the Young Justice companion comic book.
8. Nothing good.
9. They didn't. Didn't you see the explosions?
10. Some were; some were not.
11. They make him look tough.
Big fan of your work Mr. Weisman. My plan C in life is to just like you. I'm also autitic, so you may have to accuse some of my more unusuel questions and any spelling mistakes.
1) Are you a fan of Doctor Who?
2) Why did Hagen reveal his plans to use the Lazarus Pit to Talia BEFORE he ectualy used it?
3) What is the "Half-life" Atomic Skull mentions?
4) How old is Zatan...Clayface? (haha, gotcha)
5) Is Superman's reaction to Superboy in anyway inspired by Goliath's reaction to Thailog?
6) Has Hook killed a man named Boston Brand?
7) Does Cadmus know that Superman is Clark Kent?
8) Who is Talia's mother and what happened to her?
9) How did Clayface know of the relationships within the Team to decieve them?
10) Who did the vocal effects for Clayface, Captain Cold, Mammoth, Blockbuster, Devastation, Shimmer and Tuppence Terror?
1. Yes.
2. How else would he get to it?
3. His religion... based on the endlessly parsed "lifespan" of a radioactive particle.
4. Hagen is 34.
5. No. But I see the commonalities, though I think they're more situational than anything.
6. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
7. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
8. Her name is MELISANDE. As to what happened to her: SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
9. Observation.
10. Uh... vocal effects? Anyway as of episode 119:
Clayface is Nolan North.
Blockbuster is Rene Auberjonois.
Tuppence Terror is Danica McKellar.
Captain Cold, Mammoth, Devastation and Shimmer have never had set voice actors. Different actors have grunted for them in different episodes.
1) Are Zatara and Zatanna celebrities, since the former doesn't seem to have a secret identity or disguise who he is in any way? Are they well known to the people of New York?
2) Why is it that Michael McCuiston, Kristopher Carter and Lolita Ritmanis always compose each episode's music together? When they worked on Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, Teen Titans etc, each one of them tackled a different episode, an approach that I felt worked extremely well. Would you ever consider letting them compose individual episodes on their own, 'splitting duties' as it were?
3) Is Zatanna attracted to Robin?
4) Not to be pedantic or anything, but shouldn't "Homefront" and "Coldhearted" be "Home Front" and "Cold Hearted"? Homefront and Coldhearted aren't actual words to my knowledge.
5) Do the other members of the Light find Klarion annoying?
6) Was Paula Crock ever married?
7) How did Harm's parents die? Did he kill them?
8) Since Garth and Tula were referred to as Tempest and Aquagirl on the Comic-Con playing cards, can that be taken as an indication that they will assume those aliases in the near future on the show?
9) Which was your favourite season 1 episode to write?
10) Why hasn't Artemis's crush on Superboy been touched on in episodes other than "Infiltrator" and "Secrets"?
1. Zatara is. Zatanna has been out of the spotlight largely
2. We're not enforcing anything. But as long as I've worked with them, i.e. since SpecSpidey, this is how THEY have chosen to work.
3. What do you think?
4. They are, actually.
5. Not generally. I certainly don't.
6. Yes. See issue #7 of the YJ companion comic book.
7. Probably.
8. Eventually.
9. My mind doesn't work that way. They're all like my kids. Even the ones I didn't write. But I'll admit, I was pretty proud of the synergistic elements within "Misplaced".
10. It has. It's just subtle, I suppose. It's also been in the comics. Ultimately, there's only so much screen time, though, I guess to focus on it.
who voiced Billy Batson on the show.
Greg Weisman says:
"Robert Ochoa."
[Response recorded on March 5, 2012.]
I just checked the unanswered questions and I want to apologize for asking a question that was already asked. When Ask Greg reopened I thought I would be one of the first ones to post and it was only after I posted did I realize someone else had already asked the question about the Blockbuster formula. So again I am sorry and I hope that this doesn't ruin the experience of Ask Greg.
It doesn't. But thanks for the apology.
1) Where were Wotan and Count Vertigo incarcerated at once they were captured?
2) Since Belle Reve is a federal prison in the U.S., why are Mammoth and Shimmer there when they're Australian? Or are they Australian on Earth-16?
1. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
2. See Issue #17 of the comic.
1. In issue #7 of the comic series of Young Justice, was Sportsmaster returning from Santa Prissca?
2. What High School does Zatanna go to?
3. What languages do Cheshire and Sportsmaster speak?
Thanks so much for your time!
1. Who says Sportsmaster was in issue #7?
2. I'm not sure, but it's a Catholic school in Manhattan. (Maybe all girls.)
3. English, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese and probably many others.
What made you decide to do the story about 10 years after superman appeared, but give it a modern time twist?
Well, it was almost the inevitable result of developing the property from scratch.
We weren't going to do a period piece. Not that that might not be interesting, but I doubt it would have sold. Everyone wanted it to feel up-to-the-minute and contemporary.
And we were doing a show about the young teen heroes, which meant the adults had to be already established.
And we even wanted a handful (Robin, Speedy, Aqualad, Kid Flash) of the teens to already be a little established.
Beyond that, I just did the math.
1.How many members did the Justice Society/All Star Squadron have and who were they?
2.Who is stronger Blockbuster or Mammoth?
3.What are the main differences between the Blockbuster formula and Kobra Venom?
4.Do red or white martians have any abilities that green martians do not have?
5.Are the three martian races a nod to Edgar Rice Burroughs Barsoom Series or is it just a coincidence?
6.What is the ratio of red, white and green martians on Mars?
7.Did Batman, Superman, or any other member of the Justice league have different costumes then the ones they ues now?
8.Who is stronger Aquaman or Martian Manhunter?
9.Who came up with the idea to have the designations of the founding members of the league based on the order they appeared? Not to sound like a sycophant but that idea is just brilliant.
10.12. Not really a question I just wanted to say that Mark Rolston as Lex Luthor and Miguel Ferrer as Vandal Savage are some of the best interpretations of the characters I have ever seen. Not to disrespect the other talented actors but Mark Rolston could convince me to give him my life savings and Miguel Ferrer makes me afraid of the dark as strange as that sounds.
1. I have this on the timeline, but it shifted over time, so it's not a simple answer - nor a short one - so I'm going to elect to skip this.
2. Generally, I'm uninterested in these kinds of questions, but this does go to the "mythology" of our show, so: Blockbuster.
3. ASKED AND ANSWERED.
4. Nope. (Well, certain individuals might, but generally, nope.)
5. <Ahem> No comment.
6. The majority by far is Green. A large minority is white. A smaller minority is red.
7. Mostly no, but there may have been slight variations - particularly with Batman - as members gained experience. I think Green Arrow probably went through some changes too.
8. Now, we're back to me being uninterested. But I think Aquaman is physically stronger, though Martian Manhunter can augment his strength with his telekinesis.
9. Me. And thank you. (And just to be clear to those who might not be aware of what you're talking about, it's based on the order they arrived on the scene of the League's very first mission, not on the order they appeared on screen in the first episode.)
10. I completely agree. I personally feel Mark as Lex steals every scene he's in. And it's tough to top Miguel for menace.
So... aren't we off to a good start?!
Can a man simultaneously be sarcastic and not?
Anyway, I was mostly thrilled with the premiere of DC NATION, but obviously frustrated that CN attached the WRONG episode's credits. So without further ado:

YOUNG JUSTICE PRODUCTION UPDATE
So where are we...?
SEASON ONE
With the start of DC NATION, Episodes 101-119 have now aired.
120-126 are all in the can, and at least the first four of those are scheduled to air this month (March 2012).
SEASON TWO
Episodes 201 and 202 are in the can.
203 has mixed. We'll do the online tomorrow and then that will be in the can.
204 is in post-production. We locked picture last Friday and spotted the music today.
205 is in post-production. We called retakes for it last week.
206 should come in for post, pretty much any minute.
207-209 have all been fully shipped overseas for animation.
210-214 have also shipped though some of the color work on BGs and models is still being completed here.
215 should ship this week.
216 is in board revision and notes.
217 is in slug.
218-219 boards are going to slug and notes ASAP.
220 clean boards should come in early this week.
COMIC BOOK
The trade collecting issues 0-6 is out, I believe. I have a copy, but sometimes I get my comp copy a week or so early, so I'm not sure.
Issues 7-13 are all out.
Issue 14 should come out very soon.
Issue 15 is being inked.
Issue 16 is being pencilled.
Issue 17 is being scripted.
Issue 18-19 are being plotted.
What are your thoughts about Cartoon Network putting such long breaks in between episodes?
Personally, it pisses me off because YJ rocks!
Greg Weisman says:
"I don't know. I'm not consulted on scheduling."
[Response recorded on February 23, 2012.]
Batman and Wonder Woman ara dateing
Greg Weisman says:
"Nope."
[Response recorded on December 29, 2011.]
When Season 2 will aired
Greg Weisman says:
"I don't know. I'm not consulted on scheduling."
[Response recorded on February 23, 2012.]
Is the Young Justice tie-in comic considered part of the TV show's cannon, or is it considered an expanded universe?
Greg Weisman says:
"The Young Justice comic book will be in continuity with the television series, telling stories set either between episodes of the tv show and/or telling the same stories from different points of view. You don't have to watch the show to enjoy the comic or read the comic to enjoy the show, but I guarantee you'll get even more out of both if you take the time to experience both."
[Response recorded on November 19, 2010.]
Will Robin and Kid Flash be in an open homosexual relationship ?
Greg Weisman says:
"Well, what really precludes it, I suppose, is that I don't think either of them are gay. But everyone is entitled to their opinion."
[Response recorded on January 10, 2012.]
Hi, I know the new episodes just started airing but do you know if the second season will start immediately after the season 1 finale or will there be another break until the series resumes?
Greg Weisman says:
"I don't know. I'm not consulted on scheduling."
[Response recorded on February 23, 2012.]
Yes, that's right. "Misplaced", the nineteenth episode of YOUNG JUSTICE, aired today on Cartoon Network.
If you missed it - or just want a second look - it will rerun tomorrow on Cartoon Network. Check local listings for times.
Hello Greg!
Huge fan of Young Justice, and I was just wondering if there's been any talk/likelihood of a Season Three(and hopefully more!) for the show. Thanks!
Greg Weisman says:
"Too soon to say whether there'll be a third season."
[Response recorded on January 10, 2012.]
YJ question:
Today's episode involves every adult on the planet disappearing. A few episodes ago, giant plant creatures attacked major cities of the earth. Since the Justice League has been around for some time in Earth-16, have the people of earth seen and been through enough of these situations so that some of them, if not all of them, just shrug and say, "Eh, whatever. The Justice League will take care of it." every time something big like that happens?
I hope not.
I heard that the videogame Young Justice: Legacy is being written in collaboration with you and Brandon.
1) Exactly how much say do you guys have in the storyline?
2) Have you seen any of the graphics for the game yet, or been informed of what kind of gameplay it will have?
3) Will all the characters have the same voice actors as in the TV series?
1. It's a collaboration. We're not writing it ourselves, but so far, everything has been run by us, and we've had input on everything from characters to motivation.
2a. No.
2b. I'm not a gamer myself, so I don't understand the question.
3. I would assume so, but that hasn't even come up yet.
Is Kaldur from the show the same Kaldur/Jackson from the comics (not Young Justice tie in)? I ask because (according to the tie in comic) there are many contradictions with others. It's more curiosity than anything. :0
2. Is the majority of the story lines original or do you pull them from comics? Or a mix of both? Curiosity, again, lol. I realized Teen Titan pulled most of their ideas from the comic books. (which I'm not saying is bad, I loved TT and I love YJ)
This is totally unrelated, but I'm upset about that picture being released of the character in Season 2 D: (of the toy or whatever) I know you had nothing to do with it, but it was all over my tumblr and I was like ._. SPOILER MUCH. WARNING NEXT TIME. Just makes me sad...ItotallydigMegan'shairthough.
1. ASKED AND ANSWERED.
2. A mix.
1) Was The Atom mentioned in "Failsafe" the same person who was a member of the JSA?
2) In #13 of the tie-in comic, Artemis and Icicle Jr. acted like they hadn't seen each other in a long time. How long was it?
3) How long ago was Greta killed by Harm?
4) Where were the following villains incarcerated at once they were captured:
A-Bane
B-Clayface
C-Whisper A'Daire
D-"Ugly" Mannheim
E-Psycho-Pirate
1. No.
2. Years.
3. Not very.
4a. Not incarcerated.
4b. Arkham.
4c. Good question. Probably Belle Reve. Maybe just in a normal Federal Prison.
4d. Ditto.
4e. Probably Belle Reve.
1) In what ways is Kobra Venom an enhancement of the Blockbuster formula?
2) Why did Mammoth and Shimmer join the Cult of the Kobra?
3) How old is Lord Kobra?
1. It presumably does not effect the mind.
2. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
3. Thirty-seven.
So I've finally gotten through the queue. I could definitely feel myself getting cranky again by the end here, so I'm going to take a short break.
Young Justice resumes airing on Saturday, March 3, 2012, and we'll reopen ASK GREG's question/posting function on the same day.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE follow these simple guidelines BEFORE posting.
1. DO NOT REQUEST SPOILERS!! All requests for spoilers will be met with "SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT." Prefacing your spoiler request question by saying, "I hope this doesn't trigger a spoiler alert" or the like doesn't help. THINK BEFORE YOU POST. If you're asking me for information about what is TO COME on a show, it's a SPOILER. And I flat out will not answer. So all you're doing is clogging the queue.
2. CHECK THE ARCHIVES to make sure your question hasn't already been answered. Any question already answered will receive an "ASKED AND ANSWERED" response. Again, this only serves to clog the queue.
3. CHECK the UNANSWERED QUESTION queue before posting your question. I may not have answered it yet, but if you can see that someone's already asked the question, then there's no point in asking it again. All you'll receive is another "ASKED AND ANSWERED" response. Really, the amount of times I was asked Zatanna's age was just preposterous. If I'm taking the time to answer your questions, the least you can do is LOOK to see if your question was already asked before posting and clogging the queue.
4. CONSIDER asking your question from knowledgeable fans BEFORE posting it. For example, the folks at http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/comment/ are very familiar with my work and can usually answer stuff much faster than I can.
5. If you are asking multiple questions in one post, please NUMBER your questions. And if you're asking more than, say... ten... then create a separate post.
6. But please, do NOT flood the queue. Show restraint.
7. Please do not submit any original ideas, notions, concepts, or drawings of original characters. No stories, no fanfic, no teleplays, nothing.
8. No original ideas masquerading as questions. Asking me what Demona did during World War II is fine. Asking me if Demona tried to assassinate Hitler during World War II is an idea masquerading as a question and is not all right. I'm sure you can all see the distinction.
9. No requests for employment. If you want to ask generally about how one might break into the business, I'll try to give my perspective, but this is not an appropriate forum for personal pleas for work.
If these guidelines are followed the results benefit us all:
a. The queue doesn't bog down. I'll get to questions faster.
b. I'll be happier, which means I'm more likely to expand on the questions I can answer, instead of being so fed up that I speed through those too, just to bring down the size of the queue.
I know I must sound like a curmudgeon here. AND THAT'S ONLY BECAUSE THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I AM! (ASK ANYONE!) But you can help reduce my curmudgeonliness by following these guidelines.
Thank you
See you in a week(ish).
I know that you said wally knows robins secret ID but I was wondering if he also knew batman's by extension. If not, I'm amazed that wally stopped himself from doing a Google search on his friend. Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions. :)
SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
why robib is 13 instead of 15 or 16 sameage as the rest of the team
I assume you're asking why we CHOSE to make him 13, right?
If so, the short answer is, we liked the contrast between having the youngest be the guy with the most experience.
1. Why are they showing Targets again after a two-week hiatus instead of a new episode?
2. Most cartoons always show characters wearing the same clothes/hairstyle all the time.. is that the case with Young Justice or will there be costume changes? I'd like to see Artemis with her hair down more :)
1. I don't know. I'm not consulted on scheduling.
2. We've already shown our characters in multiple costumes and outfits, etc.
Hi Mr. Greg
How many years have a Zatanna?
2 has any chance of wonder girl worth putting the team? If yes donna or cassie
3 could tell me the abilities of Green Arrow? Besides being Archer, of course lol
1. ASKED AND ANSWERED.
2. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
3. Basically, what you see is what you get. He's trained in hand-to-hand, but his main skill is archery and various trick arrows.
I feel that most of the characters have gotten an episode to show off their abilities, but we haven't really seen Wally really get a chance to show off his powers. Denial was a Wally oriented episode but it was in a sense more about Doctor Fate then about Kid Flash. Will we get a episode where Wally really gets to show off his abilities?
SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
After seeing Killer Frost in "Independence Day" and "Terrors" would it be safe to assume that a version of Firestorm is active on Earth-16?
No, it would not be safe to assume anyone exists that you haven't seen.
Hello, I'm curious to know if kid flash will ever be able to vibrate his molecules through objects in this series
SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
In 'Targets', Marvin White's eyes were brown. However, in 'Secrets' Marvin's eyes were blue. So, for the record, what color are Marvin's eyes?
His eyes are brown. But he was wearing blue contact lenses to play Batman on Halloween. (Yeah, that's the ticket!)
1.) What is Wally's IQ?
2.) What is Robin's IQ?
3.) Who is the most intelligent: Wally or Robin?
4.) Who is the tallest: Robin or Zatanna?
I've seen two incidences of 'shyness' and I was wondering if those could be considered facets of the characters personality or just a natural reaction to meeting new people.
5.) Upon meeting the team, Zatanna seemed shy. Would you say that is personality trait of hers?
6.) On her first day of Gotham Academy, Artemis was tugging on her skirt and awkwardly introducing herself - would you say that shy (in social situations) is a personality trait of hers?
Thanks!
1. I don't know. He's smart.
2. I don't know. He's smart.
3. They're smart about different things. But it's not a competition.
4. They're pretty close, but Zatanna is slightly taller.
5. No. I think you misinterpreted her reaction.
6. A bit, maybe. I think she just felt uncomfortable in an unfamiliar environment.
I was just wondering if there will be an upcoming episode that focuses on Wally West/ Kid Flash. If you can't say that's fine :)
SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
Some questions on voice actors:
* You mentioned the guard Wilcox in Terrors was voiced by James Remar. The guards Cooper (the frozen one in Waller's office), Hart ("I have a family") and Hauser (the fat one) also had lines, who did them?
* Not a question: congrats to you, Brandon and Jamie Thomason (and others?) on the casting. It's a diverse cast of character actors, people new to animation, anime voices and cartoon voices. I like most of them (I was hesitant about Brent Spiner, but the more I rewatch it, the more I like it. Still not happy about KMR as John Stewart though)
* When you have "utility voice actors", how do you decide who has which part? In Failsafe, Jeff Bennet and KMR each had three roles (but Nolan North and Khary Payton only one), did you simply ask them "do a gruff general" or "do a hardened marine" and see which the best was? Or do they have better agents?
** How far do you plan these things ahead, for example, did Dee Baker audition for Serifan and Desaad in Disordered, or did you ask him because he already did Wolf (and he's just that good)?
* In Bereft, Roger Craig Smith voices Orm, and per previous answers here, L-5/Ocean Master, a Manta minion and an Atlantean soldier uncredited. Since actors get paid more if they do more than three roles (and you're not going to spend 244 dollars on a one-line soldier), can we take this as evidence Orm and Ocean Master are the same, like in the comics, or will you NO COMMENT your way out of this?
** I realize that, by the time you get to answer this, we'll probably know.
1. I don't remember.
2. Okay. Thanks?
3. It depends on a number of factors, but the primary one is SEPARATION. An actor has to be able to make a new character (no matter how minor) distinct from the characters he or she is already playing. Of course, it has NOTHING to do with their agents.
4. We don't hold auditions for guest characters.
5. Check out issues #14 and #15 of the comic.
6. Know what?
was the man with the paper in bibobs diner in the comic perry white?
Yes.
Hey Greg,
I've got three important questions to ask you. I'm apologize should these questions expose a spoiler alert or break the guidelines.
a. The episode "Homefront" introduced the brief appearances of Bette Kane and Barbara Gordon. In Earth-16, do they already have secret identities? If they do not, do you personally believe that they eventually will?
b. There was a animated television cartoon series I used to watch which lasted from 2004 to 2008 called "The Batman." In the third season of this show (2005), Batgirl(Barbara Gordon) was established as Batman's first (but not official) partner. When the fourth season of the show (2006) started, Robin (Dick Grayson) was introduced (since another cartoon show, Teen Titans, was cancelled) as Batman's second (but official) partner. That show's version of Robin was depicted to be younger than Batgirl. This leads to my question: Since Earth- 16's Barbara Gordon appears to be depicted as older (though we don't know her age) than Earth-16's Dick Grayson, was such a decision (by you and your team) actually inspired from watching "The Batman"?
c. Since we know there is a Barbara Gordon on the show, I'm sure we can easily presume that we will eventually see her adoptive father/biological uncle, Commissioner James Gordon (better known as "Jim" by Batman). This leads to my questions: Will he have any particular role on the show/comic (should he appear)? Any possible idea on what he might look like (Same as the comics or slightly younger?)? Any potential voice actors for his character (Looking forward to it!)?
Thanks for reading my questions. Hope to hear your responses. Keep up the good work on Young Justice! You and your team are doing fantastic!
PS. There is actually one extra multi-part question I need to ask you, and it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. Your response to this question means a lot not just to me, but to other fans who may ask or have already asked. Since there was no episode this week (because it was a Thanksgiving holiday), when can we expect to see the last remaining eight episodes of Season One? The reason I am asking is because the last time new episodes appeared it took about six months. Will we have to wait another six months (I hope to God that's not the case!), or will the episodes resume in December? If you (or someone on your team)are able to answer at least this question as soon as possible, I'm sure all the fans of the Young Justice show will get some closure.
a. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
b. No. And there the same age in our show, so your assumption is incorrect.
c. Jim Gordon is Barbara's father. Period. As to your question: SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
d. Episode 119 airs on March 3, 2012 as part of DC NATION.
Mr. Weisman, forgive me if this has been previously established, but, where was Nathaniel Adams born?
I haven't thought about it.
I checked archives, searched, everything, but I couldn't find this question. I've heard that Wally West was abused by his parents in other comics. Is this the case in your series Young Justice? It hasn't shown in the series yet.
No, it's not true for Earth-16.
Hey! I am a huge fan of your work, not just on YJ, but going back to Gargoyles. This is something that's been on my mind for a while, and i apologize truly, deeply and sincerely if you've already answered my questions and/or they're too spoiler-y to be answered.
1) Why did Bruce Wayne decide to adopt Dick Grayson? Was the only reason the fact that it mirrored his own childhood trauma?
2)Did he adopt Dick with the intent of training him as a sidekick, or did Dick find out he was Batman and the idea of a sidekick came after that?
3)What was the reaction of the Gotham public to Bruce Wayne adopting a child?
4)How did the rest of the League react to Robin? GA, Flash and Aquaman eventually got their own protege, but what about the others? Was there anyone who called him out taking a child into battle?

3. Haven't thought about it.

Is Detective Jim Daniels in Secrets a character from the comics, or was he created for the show? I don't recall the NYPD ever got much screentime in DC, apart from Manhunter's Detective Lucius Best and Sgt. Sylvia Kandrey.
Jim Daniels is a character from the comics. He was a friend of Man-Bat.
John Wells did the research to dig him up for us.
Hello Mr. Weisman,
I have a quick question to ask about Young Justice, but I am worried that it may not be answered in the event that it could cause a spoiler alert, or violate your guidelines. So far, we have seen only Hal Jordan and John Stewart of the Green Lantern Corps. Since I noticed that the history of Earth-16 is different when compared to what is normally seen and known in the mainstream universe of the comics (ie. Same characters. like Superboy, but with different chronological appearances and completely original storylines specifically created for the show), in your opinion, will we be possibly be seeing other members of the Green Lantern Corps, as well as the other corps (Sinestro Corps, Red Lantern Corps, Blue Lantern Corps, Indigo Tribe, Star Sapphires, and Agent Orange) anytime soon?
Well, we've seen Guy Gardner already too.
Everything else you're asking is CLEARLY a SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
So your worries were well founded. In fact, I can't help wondering how you could have possibly thought this WOULDN'T be a spoiler request.
It seems to me you blatantly ignored the guidelines. And I just can't figure out why. And not just for you, but for most of the people who have posted here.
Why continue to ask for spoilers, when you all KNOW I'm not going to give them?
Can you all really not help yourselves?
Do Freddy Freeman and Mary Batson exist on Earth-16? and if so do they/will they have powers? Also, will we be seeing the rock of eternity at any point?
SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
Whats your favorite episode so far?
My mind doesn't really work that way. They're like my kids. I like 'em all.
Dear Greg, Why is Black Canary voiced by Vanessa Marshal instead of a younger actress like Grey Delisle? And Why is Joker voiced by Brent Spiner? The reason for Mark Hamill retiring as the Joker is because he's getting to old for it, So why pick a man 62 years of age instead of someone younger like John Dimaggio, KMR, or James Patrick Stewart?
I don't know exactly how old Grey or Vanessa is, but they're both beautiful, talented women about the same age.
I think Grey's wonderful, of course, but for our interpretation of Canary, we felt Vanessa was the right call.
And that's basically the same reasoning behind our choosing Brent. He felt right for our interpretation of the character. Mark Hamill's age (or Brent's for that matter) wasn't even a consideration. I'm a great fan of both John and Kevin's Jokers, but neither seemed right for OUR version of the character.
By the way, I get that you're not thrilled with our choices - and that's certainly your prerogative - but maybe you should reread your post.
Because IT'S DAMN RUDE AND OBNOXIOUS - not to mention filled with incorrect - if not insulting - assumptions!
How, exactly, did Waller have Superman check the invulnerability of her prison?
She had Superman come and check.
(What's the mystery here?)
Hey Greg, I just have few questions about Young Justice.
1. Will more of Batman's baddies appear on the show, if so will you feature Arkham Asylum?
2. Does Harley Quinn exist on Earth-16?
3. Will Starro play a bigger role in a later episode?
1. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
2. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
3. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
<sigh>
Actually, Starro raids Arkham Asylum, frees all the Batman villains and then after a conversation with Joker, morphs itself into a human woman and takes the name Harley Quinn in order to be closer to Mr. J.!
What's Misplaced about?
on wiki and world's finest, it usually tells us what it's about a little. and i read that you have all of rest of season 1 is all finished.
or basically, what's Misplaced about?
It's about a lost glove. Robin loses a glove. The whole Team spends twenty-two minutes searching the Cave for it. Eventually, they find it in the gym. The episode ends with Kid Flash using a safety pin to pin the glove to Robin's tunic. Robin blushes. Everyone has a big laugh about it.
SERIOUSLY - WHAT DID YOU EXPECT ME TO SAY HERE?!!!
This may be my new policy. Every time I get a spoiler request from here on in, I'll give BLATANTLY FALSE INFORMATION.
Either that, or I'll reply with: SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
Hey Greg, I watched the episode "Secrets" and I wanted to know why Robin had that look on his face at the end of the scene? Was he frustrated or is that a wait-and-see thing?
I think he was disturbed.
Hey Greg,
I've got important questions I need ask you about the Young Justice version of Superboy, as well as other Superman-related topics. I apologize in advance if any of your guidelines are broken or if spoiler alerts are triggered.
The first question is a three-parter. How did you determine which powers Superboy were allowed to have during this first season? Why were his remaining powers left out to remain inaccessible to him? With the nature of Superboy starting with fewer powers instead of getting all of his powers at once, was your decision to make this move for the character inspired by watching The CW network show "Smallville"?
The second question is a two-part question about the powers Superboy does not have yet. In your opinion, do you and your team have a basic idea about which order these inaccessible powers will appear? Also, do you also have an idea about the type of situations Superboy has to be in so he will be able to trigger these powers?
The third question is about Superboy's clothing/costume. In your opinion, have you and your team considered the possibility of giving Superboy changes in his costume in future seasons in the show? There is a very specific reason I am asking. Based on what I have seen thus far, my assumption is that your team's character development for Superboy seems to parallel to that of Clark Kent/Superman as interpreted in "Smallville," especially since that show established the strict rule of "No tights, no flight." Can we safely assume that as future seasons of Young Justice go by, Superboy will be undergoing several costume changes similar to that of Clark Kent/Superman of "Smallville"?
The fourth question is about the location Smallville in the Young Justice universe. In the episode, "Failsafe" the location had a brief cameo as part of the mental simulation. In your opinion, will we be able to see the actual Smallville on the show, as well as its well-known residents (the Kents, Lana Lang, Pete Ross, etc)?
The fifth question is about the Fortress of Solitude. The only appearance of the fortress was the front door with the House of El symbol (Was that really a door? There's no keyhole). If the Fortress of Solitude appears again, will we see it in better detail (both inside and outside)? What exactly is the Young Justice version of the Fortress of Solitude based on (from other Superman-related shows to be exact)?
Thank you for taking the time to read my questions. I hope to hear your responses soon!
1a. We based it on what we believed a super boy could do: enhanced strength, vision, hearing, endurance, etc. But none of Superman's more fantastic powers, such as flight or heat-vision or even X-Ray vision. And no super-cold-breath EVER.
1b. Didn't seem realistic for the way we were interpreting the character.
1c. I can't speak for Brandon, but I'd say we were way more influenced by Superman's original 1938 power level.
2a. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
2b. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
3. I'm not all that familiar with Smallville. I only saw a handful of episodes, but I thought Clark just wore normal clothes in that show. I didn't think he had 'costumes'. As to what our Superboy will be wearing: SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
4. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
5. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
1: How old was Secret when she died?
2: Is Miss Martian really the Martian Manhunter's niece?
3: Will we ever see Wonder Woman talk?
4: Will we see Rose Wilson on the show?
1. ASKED AND ANSWERED.
2. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
3. Yes.
4. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
So if Superboy has a birthday (er...release-from-pod day) of July 4th, what are the rest of the Team's birthdays?
That's not Superboy's birthday, even as he counts it.
Some of the birthdays of the Team are SPOILER REQUESTS. Others I just haven't needed to figure out yet.
Hi Greg,
I have a few questions for you regarding Young Justice
Are you able to post the air-dates for the remaining Young Justice episodes, if so what are they?
Also what is the age of Captain Cold?
Lastly, about episode 18, Secrets and the sword of Beowulf, which sword specifically was it? I ask this because as far as I can remember the magical-crafted by giants sword he used to kill Grendel's mother melted away (or something to that effect) and he was left only with the hilt. Then again there is artistic license, but I just wanted to be sure.
Thank you for your time,
Sarah
1. Episode 119 airs on March 3, 2012 as part of DC NATION. That's all I know for sure, but I'm hopeful they at least finish out the first season on consecutive weeks and then launch right into Season Two.
2. Thirty-six.
3. Honestly, I should know this, but it's just been too long since I read Beowulf to remember.
1) Are Beast Boy, Bat-Mite, Mirror Master, the Crime Syndicate of Amerika, Erica Alexandra del Potenza, Deathstroke the Terminator, Rose Wilson, Wintergreen, Calvin Durham, Sha'lain'a, Deadshot, Ubu, Talia, Deadman, Dr. Mid-Nite, Atom-Smasher, Hourman II, Starman II, Stargirl, Sand, Etrigan the Demon/Jason Blood and Wonder Girl the next characters to appear?
2) Is Paula Crock re-married to Paul Kirk, Jr.?
3) How old is Klarion?
4) How old is Joar Mahkent?
5) How old is Zatanna?
6) How old is Barbara Gordon?
and 7) How many years did Joar spent prison?
1. Sha'lain'a and Calvin Durham will appear in issue #14 of the comic. Ubu's already appeared (in issues 11 and 12). The rest are all SPOILER REQUESTS. NO COMMENT.
2. She's not married.
3. ASKED AND ANSWERED.
4. ASKED AND ANSWERED.
5. ASKED AND ANSWERED LIKE FIFTY TIMES, DUDE!
6. ASKED AND ANSWERED.
7. I haven't done that math.
Why was Miss Martian still green in that restaurant in issue 10 of young justice? Why was she a martian in public? She did not disguise herself. And no one thought it was weird.
ASKED AND ANSWERED.
Hi Greg, big fan of your work, and i think Spectacular Spiderman and Young Justice are some of the finest superhero shows ever made. I have 2 questions regarding the light if you would indulge me. I know if its too spoilerish, that you won't say, and i understand that. Still, any kind of clue that you can give would satisfy me ^^
1) Was the light created by L-1 aka Vandal Savage? If you cant say, could at least say if it was one of member (you don't have to tell me which ^^) that did? Or if it was a coincidence? Or a series of events that lead to their evil unions? To me at least, Savage seems to be in charge, whether officially the leader or not. So i'm thinking he might have recruited the other 6, as they definitively come from such diverse backgrounds and styles. Which by the way, is that what i love about the group. That diversity and the possibilities they have as a team, which i think you showcased very well with the Injustice League too. To quote Count Vertigo: "stunning, what our little teamwork can accomplish."
2) Was the decision to give Vandal Savage his face scars, a nod to your Gargoyle fans (if so, VERY cool), or is there more behind it? A plot twist or maybe just some cool backstory? Either way, it's a nice touch.
1. I like to think it began with a conversation between old friends Savage and al Ghul. I have no idea what you mean by "a coincidence". Like the seven of them happened to walk into the same super-villain hide-out on the same day?
2. Cave bear. (And, no, it has nothing to do with Gargoyles. It was Phil Bourassa's idea.)
1. I was wondering if Young Justice is going to turn into, for lack of a better word, a love fest. It seems all of the members are getting paired up? (While I'm shipping for a pairing I know you won't make canon, I still find it a bit irritating to see a show about super powered teenagers in love, it's been done before and that's not what I was expecting from the show)
2. I was also wondering if there might be other episodes similar to Downtime but involving other characters? I'd love to explore their backgrounds a bit more.
1. I can't address your expectations. The show is the show. And the show is about teenagers. And teenagers have a lot of hormones. I'm sorry if that's not your thing, but we feel it's honest.
2. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
I have a few questions while the show is on break. Hope you can answer them.
1. Is Zatanna going to be a part of the team or just a random guest start every once in a while? I'm perfectly fine with her just coming and going as she pleases but just wondering.
2. So Artemis' past is revealed to Green Arrow and Batman and apparently according to the show. Recently it's revealed or "hinted" that Robin knows. How did he find out?
3. I'm super confused with the whole Artemis-Superboy Wally-M'gann and Artemis-Wally thing is confusing. It's obvious Miss Martian and Superboy are dating but apparently not to Wally and Artemis' dismay in the episode "Secret". In the previous few episodes, there have been "elephant in the room" pushes towards Artemis and Wally(Bereft, Revelations, Failsafe and >Disordered< ) . Are you going to clear that up or play that out anytime soon?
1. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
2. He's a detective.
3. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
1. Will Amanda Waller make another appearance?
2. Will Starfire, beast boy or cyborg make an appearance?
3. Will Static and Gear make an appearance in Young Justice?
I hope that static and gear appear, because their two of my favorite DC heroes

I just had a few questions
1. Does Gorilla Grodd Exist in the young justice universe, and if so will we see him in season 1
2. Will Brainiac make an appearance this season.
3. Will we see Themyscira and the amazons
4. When artemis said "I feel naked... and not in a fun way", what exactly did she mean by fun?
1. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
2. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
3. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
4. I'll leave that to your interpretation.

Hello, Mr. Weisman,
I sincerely apologize if this question seems to go against spoiler alerts and your guidelines. In your opinion, will the show eventually show more Kryptonians beside Superman and Superboy? (Yes? No? Possibly? Under consideration?)
Thanks, I appreciate it.
SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
I mean, come on, how could that question possibly NOT be a spoiler request?!!
Gang, seriously, when we reopen the queue on March 3rd, PLEASE, please PLEASE do not clog it up by asking what's to come. I'm just flat out NOT going to tell you.
I was re-watching Bereft, and wondered; has Artemis actually killed anyone before?
SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
Greg, love your work, a question about Young justice and I understand if you are unable to respond. In the new episode, Secrets, Red Arrow tells us that Miss Martian stowed away on Martain Manhunter's ship to get to Earth. In the comic, issue 6 states that Miss Martain won a tournament to become J'ohnn's new sidekick, which one of these is true or will it be brought up later in the show?
Someone's definitely lying. Beyond that, SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
