So I've finally gotten through the queue. I could definitely feel myself getting cranky again by the end here, so I'm going to take a short break.
Young Justice resumes airing on Saturday, March 3, 2012, and we'll reopen ASK GREG's question/posting function on the same day.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE follow these simple guidelines BEFORE posting.
1. DO NOT REQUEST SPOILERS!! All requests for spoilers will be met with "SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT." Prefacing your spoiler request question by saying, "I hope this doesn't trigger a spoiler alert" or the like doesn't help. THINK BEFORE YOU POST. If you're asking me for information about what is TO COME on a show, it's a SPOILER. And I flat out will not answer. So all you're doing is clogging the queue.
2. CHECK THE ARCHIVES to make sure your question hasn't already been answered. Any question already answered will receive an "ASKED AND ANSWERED" response. Again, this only serves to clog the queue.
3. CHECK the UNANSWERED QUESTION queue before posting your question. I may not have answered it yet, but if you can see that someone's already asked the question, then there's no point in asking it again. All you'll receive is another "ASKED AND ANSWERED" response. Really, the amount of times I was asked Zatanna's age was just preposterous. If I'm taking the time to answer your questions, the least you can do is LOOK to see if your question was already asked before posting and clogging the queue.
4. CONSIDER asking your question from knowledgeable fans BEFORE posting it. For example, the folks at http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/comment/ are very familiar with my work and can usually answer stuff much faster than I can.
5. If you are asking multiple questions in one post, please NUMBER your questions. And if you're asking more than, say... ten... then create a separate post.
6. But please, do NOT flood the queue. Show restraint.
7. Please do not submit any original ideas, notions, concepts, or drawings of original characters. No stories, no fanfic, no teleplays, nothing.
8. No original ideas masquerading as questions. Asking me what Demona did during World War II is fine. Asking me if Demona tried to assassinate Hitler during World War II is an idea masquerading as a question and is not all right. I'm sure you can all see the distinction.
9. No requests for employment. If you want to ask generally about how one might break into the business, I'll try to give my perspective, but this is not an appropriate forum for personal pleas for work.
If these guidelines are followed the results benefit us all:
a. The queue doesn't bog down. I'll get to questions faster.
b. I'll be happier, which means I'm more likely to expand on the questions I can answer, instead of being so fed up that I speed through those too, just to bring down the size of the queue.
I know I must sound like a curmudgeon here. AND THAT'S ONLY BECAUSE THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I AM! (ASK ANYONE!) But you can help reduce my curmudgeonliness by following these guidelines.
Thank you
See you in a week(ish).
I know that you said wally knows robins secret ID but I was wondering if he also knew batman's by extension. If not, I'm amazed that wally stopped himself from doing a Google search on his friend. Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions. :)
SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
why robib is 13 instead of 15 or 16 sameage as the rest of the team
I assume you're asking why we CHOSE to make him 13, right?
If so, the short answer is, we liked the contrast between having the youngest be the guy with the most experience.
1. Why are they showing Targets again after a two-week hiatus instead of a new episode?
2. Most cartoons always show characters wearing the same clothes/hairstyle all the time.. is that the case with Young Justice or will there be costume changes? I'd like to see Artemis with her hair down more :)
1. I don't know. I'm not consulted on scheduling.
2. We've already shown our characters in multiple costumes and outfits, etc.
Hi Mr. Greg
How many years have a Zatanna?
2 has any chance of wonder girl worth putting the team? If yes donna or cassie
3 could tell me the abilities of Green Arrow? Besides being Archer, of course lol
1. ASKED AND ANSWERED.
2. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
3. Basically, what you see is what you get. He's trained in hand-to-hand, but his main skill is archery and various trick arrows.
I feel that most of the characters have gotten an episode to show off their abilities, but we haven't really seen Wally really get a chance to show off his powers. Denial was a Wally oriented episode but it was in a sense more about Doctor Fate then about Kid Flash. Will we get a episode where Wally really gets to show off his abilities?
SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
After seeing Killer Frost in "Independence Day" and "Terrors" would it be safe to assume that a version of Firestorm is active on Earth-16?
No, it would not be safe to assume anyone exists that you haven't seen.
Hello, I'm curious to know if kid flash will ever be able to vibrate his molecules through objects in this series
SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
In 'Targets', Marvin White's eyes were brown. However, in 'Secrets' Marvin's eyes were blue. So, for the record, what color are Marvin's eyes?
His eyes are brown. But he was wearing blue contact lenses to play Batman on Halloween. (Yeah, that's the ticket!)
1.) What is Wally's IQ?
2.) What is Robin's IQ?
3.) Who is the most intelligent: Wally or Robin?
4.) Who is the tallest: Robin or Zatanna?
I've seen two incidences of 'shyness' and I was wondering if those could be considered facets of the characters personality or just a natural reaction to meeting new people.
5.) Upon meeting the team, Zatanna seemed shy. Would you say that is personality trait of hers?
6.) On her first day of Gotham Academy, Artemis was tugging on her skirt and awkwardly introducing herself - would you say that shy (in social situations) is a personality trait of hers?
Thanks!
1. I don't know. He's smart.
2. I don't know. He's smart.
3. They're smart about different things. But it's not a competition.
4. They're pretty close, but Zatanna is slightly taller.
5. No. I think you misinterpreted her reaction.
6. A bit, maybe. I think she just felt uncomfortable in an unfamiliar environment.
I was just wondering if there will be an upcoming episode that focuses on Wally West/ Kid Flash. If you can't say that's fine :)
SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
Some questions on voice actors:
* You mentioned the guard Wilcox in Terrors was voiced by James Remar. The guards Cooper (the frozen one in Waller's office), Hart ("I have a family") and Hauser (the fat one) also had lines, who did them?
* Not a question: congrats to you, Brandon and Jamie Thomason (and others?) on the casting. It's a diverse cast of character actors, people new to animation, anime voices and cartoon voices. I like most of them (I was hesitant about Brent Spiner, but the more I rewatch it, the more I like it. Still not happy about KMR as John Stewart though)
* When you have "utility voice actors", how do you decide who has which part? In Failsafe, Jeff Bennet and KMR each had three roles (but Nolan North and Khary Payton only one), did you simply ask them "do a gruff general" or "do a hardened marine" and see which the best was? Or do they have better agents?
** How far do you plan these things ahead, for example, did Dee Baker audition for Serifan and Desaad in Disordered, or did you ask him because he already did Wolf (and he's just that good)?
* In Bereft, Roger Craig Smith voices Orm, and per previous answers here, L-5/Ocean Master, a Manta minion and an Atlantean soldier uncredited. Since actors get paid more if they do more than three roles (and you're not going to spend 244 dollars on a one-line soldier), can we take this as evidence Orm and Ocean Master are the same, like in the comics, or will you NO COMMENT your way out of this?
** I realize that, by the time you get to answer this, we'll probably know.
1. I don't remember.
2. Okay. Thanks?
3. It depends on a number of factors, but the primary one is SEPARATION. An actor has to be able to make a new character (no matter how minor) distinct from the characters he or she is already playing. Of course, it has NOTHING to do with their agents.
4. We don't hold auditions for guest characters.
5. Check out issues #14 and #15 of the comic.
6. Know what?
was the man with the paper in bibobs diner in the comic perry white?
Yes.
Hey Greg,
I've got three important questions to ask you. I'm apologize should these questions expose a spoiler alert or break the guidelines.
a. The episode "Homefront" introduced the brief appearances of Bette Kane and Barbara Gordon. In Earth-16, do they already have secret identities? If they do not, do you personally believe that they eventually will?
b. There was a animated television cartoon series I used to watch which lasted from 2004 to 2008 called "The Batman." In the third season of this show (2005), Batgirl(Barbara Gordon) was established as Batman's first (but not official) partner. When the fourth season of the show (2006) started, Robin (Dick Grayson) was introduced (since another cartoon show, Teen Titans, was cancelled) as Batman's second (but official) partner. That show's version of Robin was depicted to be younger than Batgirl. This leads to my question: Since Earth- 16's Barbara Gordon appears to be depicted as older (though we don't know her age) than Earth-16's Dick Grayson, was such a decision (by you and your team) actually inspired from watching "The Batman"?
c. Since we know there is a Barbara Gordon on the show, I'm sure we can easily presume that we will eventually see her adoptive father/biological uncle, Commissioner James Gordon (better known as "Jim" by Batman). This leads to my questions: Will he have any particular role on the show/comic (should he appear)? Any possible idea on what he might look like (Same as the comics or slightly younger?)? Any potential voice actors for his character (Looking forward to it!)?
Thanks for reading my questions. Hope to hear your responses. Keep up the good work on Young Justice! You and your team are doing fantastic!
PS. There is actually one extra multi-part question I need to ask you, and it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. Your response to this question means a lot not just to me, but to other fans who may ask or have already asked. Since there was no episode this week (because it was a Thanksgiving holiday), when can we expect to see the last remaining eight episodes of Season One? The reason I am asking is because the last time new episodes appeared it took about six months. Will we have to wait another six months (I hope to God that's not the case!), or will the episodes resume in December? If you (or someone on your team)are able to answer at least this question as soon as possible, I'm sure all the fans of the Young Justice show will get some closure.
a. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
b. No. And there the same age in our show, so your assumption is incorrect.
c. Jim Gordon is Barbara's father. Period. As to your question: SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
d. Episode 119 airs on March 3, 2012 as part of DC NATION.
Mr. Weisman, forgive me if this has been previously established, but, where was Nathaniel Adams born?
I haven't thought about it.
I checked archives, searched, everything, but I couldn't find this question. I've heard that Wally West was abused by his parents in other comics. Is this the case in your series Young Justice? It hasn't shown in the series yet.
No, it's not true for Earth-16.
Hey! I am a huge fan of your work, not just on YJ, but going back to Gargoyles. This is something that's been on my mind for a while, and i apologize truly, deeply and sincerely if you've already answered my questions and/or they're too spoiler-y to be answered.
1) Why did Bruce Wayne decide to adopt Dick Grayson? Was the only reason the fact that it mirrored his own childhood trauma?
2)Did he adopt Dick with the intent of training him as a sidekick, or did Dick find out he was Batman and the idea of a sidekick came after that?
3)What was the reaction of the Gotham public to Bruce Wayne adopting a child?
4)How did the rest of the League react to Robin? GA, Flash and Aquaman eventually got their own protege, but what about the others? Was there anyone who called him out taking a child into battle?
1. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
2. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
3. Haven't thought about it.
4. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
Is Detective Jim Daniels in Secrets a character from the comics, or was he created for the show? I don't recall the NYPD ever got much screentime in DC, apart from Manhunter's Detective Lucius Best and Sgt. Sylvia Kandrey.
Jim Daniels is a character from the comics. He was a friend of Man-Bat.
John Wells did the research to dig him up for us.
Hello Mr. Weisman,
I have a quick question to ask about Young Justice, but I am worried that it may not be answered in the event that it could cause a spoiler alert, or violate your guidelines. So far, we have seen only Hal Jordan and John Stewart of the Green Lantern Corps. Since I noticed that the history of Earth-16 is different when compared to what is normally seen and known in the mainstream universe of the comics (ie. Same characters. like Superboy, but with different chronological appearances and completely original storylines specifically created for the show), in your opinion, will we be possibly be seeing other members of the Green Lantern Corps, as well as the other corps (Sinestro Corps, Red Lantern Corps, Blue Lantern Corps, Indigo Tribe, Star Sapphires, and Agent Orange) anytime soon?
Well, we've seen Guy Gardner already too.
Everything else you're asking is CLEARLY a SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
So your worries were well founded. In fact, I can't help wondering how you could have possibly thought this WOULDN'T be a spoiler request.
It seems to me you blatantly ignored the guidelines. And I just can't figure out why. And not just for you, but for most of the people who have posted here.
Why continue to ask for spoilers, when you all KNOW I'm not going to give them?
Can you all really not help yourselves?
Do Freddy Freeman and Mary Batson exist on Earth-16? and if so do they/will they have powers? Also, will we be seeing the rock of eternity at any point?
SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
Whats your favorite episode so far?
My mind doesn't really work that way. They're like my kids. I like 'em all.
Hello again, this time I wanted to ask a few voice acting questions:
-Is there a story behind your "Father, the rockets aren't working!" bit in the Panda-La episode of Talespin (i.e. how you were tasked with doing it)?
-Do you and your co-producers like Frank, Victor, or Brandon select casting and voice directors, or are there "casting calls" for positions like that? I ask because you've made quite a good partnership with Jamie Thomason on Gargoyles, Spider-Man, and Young Justice.
-How do auditions work for main, supporting, and guest characters respectively? I ask because it seems like you hand-pick past favorites for guest stars like Ed Asner, Brent Spiner, Lacey Chabert, Bill Fagerbakke, etc., and I was curious as to how that differs from the main and supporting audition process.
Thanks again,
Chris Spider
1. Uh, we had to rerecord a number of lines from that episode, so I helped out. (Not much of a story, I know.)
2. We producers select our directors together. And I've had good working relationships with other Voice Directors, including Ginny McSwain, Andrea Romano, Sue Blue and some guy named Greg Weisman, but I'll admit that since Gargoyles, Jamie's usually my first choice, particularly on this type of show.
3. We tend to audition leads, because our bosses like to weigh in and have options and know that we've chosen the best possible candidate. Plus it helps us discover the character. But there's no time to do that for every character once production gets rolling, so we just talk out casting. I'm obviously going to be familiar with the sounds and skills of folks I've worked with before, and since they're good - and fun to be around - I do recommend folks I've enjoyed working with before. Occasionally, we'll hold a mini-audition or two to cast a character (usually a male or female ingenue) when we don't know exactly who to cast.
Dear Greg, Why is Black Canary voiced by Vanessa Marshal instead of a younger actress like Grey Delisle? And Why is Joker voiced by Brent Spiner? The reason for Mark Hamill retiring as the Joker is because he's getting to old for it, So why pick a man 62 years of age instead of someone younger like John Dimaggio, KMR, or James Patrick Stewart?
I don't know exactly how old Grey or Vanessa is, but they're both beautiful, talented women about the same age.
I think Grey's wonderful, of course, but for our interpretation of Canary, we felt Vanessa was the right call.
And that's basically the same reasoning behind our choosing Brent. He felt right for our interpretation of the character. Mark Hamill's age (or Brent's for that matter) wasn't even a consideration. I'm a great fan of both John and Kevin's Jokers, but neither seemed right for OUR version of the character.
By the way, I get that you're not thrilled with our choices - and that's certainly your prerogative - but maybe you should reread your post.
Because IT'S DAMN RUDE AND OBNOXIOUS - not to mention filled with incorrect - if not insulting - assumptions!
Some of these questions, I just look at and think "there's a NO COMMENT...there's another...and more...haven't they clued in by now?!?!?! (no answer necessary for that one) On behalf of the people who actually try to keep from triggering those, I apologize.
Thanks. But at this point, I've gotten a LOT of these sympathy posts too. And so now they are ALSO cluttering up the queue. I don't want to seem churlish, since you're trying to be nice. But it would just be better if we ALL stuck to business, so to speak, in order to keep ASK GREG manageable.
How, exactly, did Waller have Superman check the invulnerability of her prison?
She had Superman come and check.
(What's the mystery here?)
Whose idea was it for Demona to start turning into a human during the day and why did you add it to the series? Did you plan for that to happen from the beginning?
I think it was mine. But so many years later, I can't be sure. So much of the series was a collaboration.
And, no, we didn't know we were going to do that at the beginning. But it became clear that was the way to go.
Hey Greg, I just have few questions about Young Justice.
1. Will more of Batman's baddies appear on the show, if so will you feature Arkham Asylum?
2. Does Harley Quinn exist on Earth-16?
3. Will Starro play a bigger role in a later episode?
1. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
2. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
3. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
<sigh>
Actually, Starro raids Arkham Asylum, frees all the Batman villains and then after a conversation with Joker, morphs itself into a human woman and takes the name Harley Quinn in order to be closer to Mr. J.!
Can Oberon's children eat food containing iron, such as meat or spinach?
Let's not get carried away.
Hey greg it's not actually a question about Gargoyles, but the MiB cartoon series. In the episode Big Bad Bug you wrote, Kay throws an expanding cube at Jay, what was the name of that device when you devise it?
Are there any other devices/weapons either you or Jon created that were never mentioned by name in the series? I was compiling some of that data and if you happen to still have that info it would be great!
Thanks for your time and help,
Marcos Bolton
I'm sorry, it's just been WAY too long. I can't remember.
What's Misplaced about?
on wiki and world's finest, it usually tells us what it's about a little. and i read that you have all of rest of season 1 is all finished.
or basically, what's Misplaced about?
It's about a lost glove. Robin loses a glove. The whole Team spends twenty-two minutes searching the Cave for it. Eventually, they find it in the gym. The episode ends with Kid Flash using a safety pin to pin the glove to Robin's tunic. Robin blushes. Everyone has a big laugh about it.
SERIOUSLY - WHAT DID YOU EXPECT ME TO SAY HERE?!!!
This may be my new policy. Every time I get a spoiler request from here on in, I'll give BLATANTLY FALSE INFORMATION.
Either that, or I'll reply with: SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
Hey Greg, I watched the episode "Secrets" and I wanted to know why Robin had that look on his face at the end of the scene? Was he frustrated or is that a wait-and-see thing?
I think he was disturbed.
Hey Greg,
I've got important questions I need ask you about the Young Justice version of Superboy, as well as other Superman-related topics. I apologize in advance if any of your guidelines are broken or if spoiler alerts are triggered.
The first question is a three-parter. How did you determine which powers Superboy were allowed to have during this first season? Why were his remaining powers left out to remain inaccessible to him? With the nature of Superboy starting with fewer powers instead of getting all of his powers at once, was your decision to make this move for the character inspired by watching The CW network show "Smallville"?
The second question is a two-part question about the powers Superboy does not have yet. In your opinion, do you and your team have a basic idea about which order these inaccessible powers will appear? Also, do you also have an idea about the type of situations Superboy has to be in so he will be able to trigger these powers?
The third question is about Superboy's clothing/costume. In your opinion, have you and your team considered the possibility of giving Superboy changes in his costume in future seasons in the show? There is a very specific reason I am asking. Based on what I have seen thus far, my assumption is that your team's character development for Superboy seems to parallel to that of Clark Kent/Superman as interpreted in "Smallville," especially since that show established the strict rule of "No tights, no flight." Can we safely assume that as future seasons of Young Justice go by, Superboy will be undergoing several costume changes similar to that of Clark Kent/Superman of "Smallville"?
The fourth question is about the location Smallville in the Young Justice universe. In the episode, "Failsafe" the location had a brief cameo as part of the mental simulation. In your opinion, will we be able to see the actual Smallville on the show, as well as its well-known residents (the Kents, Lana Lang, Pete Ross, etc)?
The fifth question is about the Fortress of Solitude. The only appearance of the fortress was the front door with the House of El symbol (Was that really a door? There's no keyhole). If the Fortress of Solitude appears again, will we see it in better detail (both inside and outside)? What exactly is the Young Justice version of the Fortress of Solitude based on (from other Superman-related shows to be exact)?
Thank you for taking the time to read my questions. I hope to hear your responses soon!
1a. We based it on what we believed a super boy could do: enhanced strength, vision, hearing, endurance, etc. But none of Superman's more fantastic powers, such as flight or heat-vision or even X-Ray vision. And no super-cold-breath EVER.
1b. Didn't seem realistic for the way we were interpreting the character.
1c. I can't speak for Brandon, but I'd say we were way more influenced by Superman's original 1938 power level.
2a. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
2b. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
3. I'm not all that familiar with Smallville. I only saw a handful of episodes, but I thought Clark just wore normal clothes in that show. I didn't think he had 'costumes'. As to what our Superboy will be wearing: SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
4. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
5. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
1: How old was Secret when she died?
2: Is Miss Martian really the Martian Manhunter's niece?
3: Will we ever see Wonder Woman talk?
4: Will we see Rose Wilson on the show?
1. ASKED AND ANSWERED.
2. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
3. Yes.
4. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
For the GargWiki's timeline, I was wondering if you would share the dates and descriptions from your timeline of the events from #10, #11, ans #12 of "Gargoyles."
Thanks

Time-Dancing Brooklyn arrives and immediately encounters King Constantine, MaÃl Brigti, Gillecomgain and Brother Valmont. He rescues Mary and Finella (and the Grimorum Arcanorum) from villagers, who believe the two women are witches. He gains a sword in the process. Maol Chalvim, Findlaech, Kenneth III (a.k.a. The Grim) and Bodhe discuss how to topple Constantine, perhaps by allying with gargoyles. Constantine and Gillecomgain destroy a cell of gargoyles at Sruighlea, and Demona finds the rubble. (âThe Gateâ) Brooklyn, Mary and Finella journey to Wyvern but are unable to acquire Goliathâs piece of the Phoenix Gate. Constantine shaves his head. Demona tells her cell of gargoyles, including Second, Sacrifice, Brooksbro, Schnozz, Kermit, True, Chomp and Chaw about the dead Sruighlea gargoyles. Brooklyn, Mary and Finella make contact with Grim, and Brooklyn tracks down Demona to get her help. (âTyrantsâ)
Hunterâs Moon, 997
All combatants and their armies converge at Rathveramoen. Valmont takes the Grimorum. (âTyrantsâ) Valmont uses the Grimorum to rain arrows from heaven. Sacrifice, MaÃl Brigti and the old nag Magus are killed. Demona ends the spell. Brooklyn returns the Grimorum to Finella. Constantine III is killed at age @26 at the Battle of Rathveramoen by the popular Kenneth III (Katharineâs cousin, the son of Duff). The Phoenix returns and Brooklyn, Finella and Mary leave this time period with the Grimorum. (âPhoenixâ)

Brooklyn is accidentally sent dancing through time by the Phoenix that was inside the Phoenix Gate. (âThe Gateâ) He returns to the present mere seconds after he departed. But for him, forty years have passed, and he has not come back alone. Brooklyn brings along his mate Katana, their son Nashville, the gargoyle beast Fu-Dog and an unhatched gargoyle egg, nicknamed Egwardo. (âPhoenixâ)
So if Superboy has a birthday (er...release-from-pod day) of July 4th, what are the rest of the Team's birthdays?
That's not Superboy's birthday, even as he counts it.
Some of the birthdays of the Team are SPOILER REQUESTS. Others I just haven't needed to figure out yet.
Hi Greg,
I have a few questions for you regarding Young Justice
Are you able to post the air-dates for the remaining Young Justice episodes, if so what are they?
Also what is the age of Captain Cold?
Lastly, about episode 18, Secrets and the sword of Beowulf, which sword specifically was it? I ask this because as far as I can remember the magical-crafted by giants sword he used to kill Grendel's mother melted away (or something to that effect) and he was left only with the hilt. Then again there is artistic license, but I just wanted to be sure.
Thank you for your time,
Sarah
1. Episode 119 airs on March 3, 2012 as part of DC NATION. That's all I know for sure, but I'm hopeful they at least finish out the first season on consecutive weeks and then launch right into Season Two.
2. Thirty-six.
3. Honestly, I should know this, but it's just been too long since I read Beowulf to remember.
1) Are Beast Boy, Bat-Mite, Mirror Master, the Crime Syndicate of Amerika, Erica Alexandra del Potenza, Deathstroke the Terminator, Rose Wilson, Wintergreen, Calvin Durham, Sha'lain'a, Deadshot, Ubu, Talia, Deadman, Dr. Mid-Nite, Atom-Smasher, Hourman II, Starman II, Stargirl, Sand, Etrigan the Demon/Jason Blood and Wonder Girl the next characters to appear?
2) Is Paula Crock re-married to Paul Kirk, Jr.?
3) How old is Klarion?
4) How old is Joar Mahkent?
5) How old is Zatanna?
6) How old is Barbara Gordon?
and 7) How many years did Joar spent prison?
1. Sha'lain'a and Calvin Durham will appear in issue #14 of the comic. Ubu's already appeared (in issues 11 and 12). The rest are all SPOILER REQUESTS. NO COMMENT.
2. She's not married.
3. ASKED AND ANSWERED.
4. ASKED AND ANSWERED.
5. ASKED AND ANSWERED LIKE FIFTY TIMES, DUDE!
6. ASKED AND ANSWERED.
7. I haven't done that math.
Why was Miss Martian still green in that restaurant in issue 10 of young justice? Why was she a martian in public? She did not disguise herself. And no one thought it was weird.
ASKED AND ANSWERED.
Hi Greg, big fan of your work, and i think Spectacular Spiderman and Young Justice are some of the finest superhero shows ever made. I have 2 questions regarding the light if you would indulge me. I know if its too spoilerish, that you won't say, and i understand that. Still, any kind of clue that you can give would satisfy me ^^
1) Was the light created by L-1 aka Vandal Savage? If you cant say, could at least say if it was one of member (you don't have to tell me which ^^) that did? Or if it was a coincidence? Or a series of events that lead to their evil unions? To me at least, Savage seems to be in charge, whether officially the leader or not. So i'm thinking he might have recruited the other 6, as they definitively come from such diverse backgrounds and styles. Which by the way, is that what i love about the group. That diversity and the possibilities they have as a team, which i think you showcased very well with the Injustice League too. To quote Count Vertigo: "stunning, what our little teamwork can accomplish."
2) Was the decision to give Vandal Savage his face scars, a nod to your Gargoyle fans (if so, VERY cool), or is there more behind it? A plot twist or maybe just some cool backstory? Either way, it's a nice touch.
1. I like to think it began with a conversation between old friends Savage and al Ghul. I have no idea what you mean by "a coincidence". Like the seven of them happened to walk into the same super-villain hide-out on the same day?
2. Cave bear. (And, no, it has nothing to do with Gargoyles. It was Phil Bourassa's idea.)
1. I was wondering if Young Justice is going to turn into, for lack of a better word, a love fest. It seems all of the members are getting paired up? (While I'm shipping for a pairing I know you won't make canon, I still find it a bit irritating to see a show about super powered teenagers in love, it's been done before and that's not what I was expecting from the show)
2. I was also wondering if there might be other episodes similar to Downtime but involving other characters? I'd love to explore their backgrounds a bit more.
1. I can't address your expectations. The show is the show. And the show is about teenagers. And teenagers have a lot of hormones. I'm sorry if that's not your thing, but we feel it's honest.
2. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
Hi Greg,
You should email Disney which is disneyinfo@disneyhelp.com to check with them if they are going to release the rest of Gargoyles Series on DVD in 2012 of Season 2, Volume 2 and Season 3. Thank you.
They're not going to tell me any more than they've told you.
I have a few questions while the show is on break. Hope you can answer them.
1. Is Zatanna going to be a part of the team or just a random guest start every once in a while? I'm perfectly fine with her just coming and going as she pleases but just wondering.
2. So Artemis' past is revealed to Green Arrow and Batman and apparently according to the show. Recently it's revealed or "hinted" that Robin knows. How did he find out?
3. I'm super confused with the whole Artemis-Superboy Wally-M'gann and Artemis-Wally thing is confusing. It's obvious Miss Martian and Superboy are dating but apparently not to Wally and Artemis' dismay in the episode "Secret". In the previous few episodes, there have been "elephant in the room" pushes towards Artemis and Wally(Bereft, Revelations, Failsafe and >Disordered< ) . Are you going to clear that up or play that out anytime soon?
1. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
2. He's a detective.
3. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
1. Will Amanda Waller make another appearance?
2. Will Starfire, beast boy or cyborg make an appearance?
3. Will Static and Gear make an appearance in Young Justice?
I hope that static and gear appear, because their two of my favorite DC heroes

I just had a few questions
1. Does Gorilla Grodd Exist in the young justice universe, and if so will we see him in season 1
2. Will Brainiac make an appearance this season.
3. Will we see Themyscira and the amazons
4. When artemis said "I feel naked... and not in a fun way", what exactly did she mean by fun?

4. I'll leave that to your interpretation.

Hello, Mr. Weisman,
I sincerely apologize if this question seems to go against spoiler alerts and your guidelines. In your opinion, will the show eventually show more Kryptonians beside Superman and Superboy? (Yes? No? Possibly? Under consideration?)
Thanks, I appreciate it.
SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
I mean, come on, how could that question possibly NOT be a spoiler request?!!
Gang, seriously, when we reopen the queue on March 3rd, PLEASE, please PLEASE do not clog it up by asking what's to come. I'm just flat out NOT going to tell you.
I was re-watching Bereft, and wondered; has Artemis actually killed anyone before?
SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
Greg, love your work, a question about Young justice and I understand if you are unable to respond. In the new episode, Secrets, Red Arrow tells us that Miss Martian stowed away on Martain Manhunter's ship to get to Earth. In the comic, issue 6 states that Miss Martain won a tournament to become J'ohnn's new sidekick, which one of these is true or will it be brought up later in the show?
Someone's definitely lying. Beyond that, SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
Are you and writer Jon Weisman related?
He's my kid brother! (You know, if you can still be called a kid in your forties.)
Who's your brother's favorite DC character?
I dunno. Ask him at www.dodgerthoughts.com.
(Of course, you may want to keep in mind, that he's not a big comic book geek like me. He's a baseball geek.)
Hey Greg,
I was just wondering, is the Justice League Watchtower on Earth-16 staffed with according personnel like it was on McDuffie's JLU?
SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
What is the mascot of Gotham Academy in Young Justice?
I don't know. Or at least I can't remember if we have one or not.
Hey Greg,
I've have some very important questions to ask you about The Young Justice show. I apologize beforehand if any of my questions accidentally expose anything that results in a spoiler alert, or if it seems I accidentally violated any of your guidelines. I also understand that you do not answer everyone's questions. I hope you will be willing to make an exception this time, and read these questions (as mentioned, they are important to me).
a. As everyone knows, Batman is current leader of the Justice League. However, you have mentioned in a response to a previous posting that there have been other members that were voted for leadership before Batman. For some clarification, how times have there been a vote of leadership within the Justice League, which members became leaders, and for how long?
b. As we all know, Batman is doing double-duty, more specifically, his role as leader of the Justice League and his role as supervisor to The Team by deploying them on covert missions. In your honest opinion, if (and when) his leadership duties are eventually transferred to another member of the Justice League, will this affect his other role as The Team's supervisor, or will he still be able to continue this role?
c. In "Downtime," we got to see a rare moment when Bruce Wayne show his more human side (even though it's hard to tell), when he decides to play basketball with Dick Grayson (he called it hand-eye coordination, of all people!!). The way I see it, it seems that Bruce felt he was being unfair (and perhaps, guilty?) to Dick when Bruce wanted to talk to Aqualad alone, and Dick took it the wrong way. In your honest opinion, will we more of Bruce's human side in the show?
d. Ever since he met Superboy, Superman seems to be acting as though he doesn't want to deal with the boy. His behavior, as of late, almost appear to be similar to that of Batman (at least, in my opinion). This leads me to my question: What do you believe Superboy must do in order to earn Superman's attention and, even more so, Superman's respect?
e. The character Supergirl has been(at least, to me, and possibly other fans) a popular, and certainly, interesting character because there has multiple incarnations of her in the mainstream DC universe. Ever the DC relaunch started, everything fans have come to know about the mainstream DC universe was rebooted (some in major ways, and some in minor ways). There is only one Supergirl in the mainstream DC universe now, and that is Kara Zor-El(biological cousin of Superman) herself. With you and your team slowly and carefully manipulating/creating the history of Earth-16, as well as the histories of our favorite DC characters (such as the introduction of Superboy on the show occurring much earlier than what we're used to seeing in the comics), in your honest opinion, has there been an idea among you and your team about considering the addition of Supergirl (Kara Zor-El) into the show? Though I have no intention of trying to make any suggestion to you about how the show should be done (hence your first guideline rule), if such an idea does indeed come to pass (in the near future), I am confident that you and your team can handle the development of her character (in terms of appearance and costume design) very well.
Thank you for taking the time to read all of my questions, and I look forward to reading your responses to them.
PS. All the season one episodes have been very enjoyable thus far. I looking forward to seeing the remaining eight episodes! (I just hope the show doesn't go on another break...)
a. I haven't tracked this. Length of service is generally a year. Though there are exceptions.
b. That would be up to the new leader.
c. Well, I would think so. But we may define it differently.
d. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
e. You WRITE that you're asking for my opinion whether Supergirl has been considered. But that's not a matter of opinion. It's a fact that either we have or have not. So in essence, you're asking for a spoiler, but trying to sneak it by me by asking for my "opinion". But I'll tell you this. Supergirl was on the list of over fifty teenage heroes that we considered on Day One of developing this show. Whether or not she will eventually appear is a SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
Hello, Greg! I love cartoons and I'm loving Young Justice. Very well done, with well-written script and developed. Young Justice, today, for me, is one of the best cartoons there.
I believe you should know about the various speculations about who is the traitor as well as the second season. And my question is about the second season:
- The main characters (Aqualad, Superboy, Miss Martian, Robin, Kid Flash and Artemis) will continue the series? I ask this because I read on various sites, because of the famous "traitor" and also because there is a "teaser" in the Superboy and Aqualad does not appear, assuming they are not part of the second season (mostly Superboy).
- If they all continue (I hope so), there is continuity of the romance between Miss Martian Superboy and will continue (I believe that we can merge into cartoon, fantasy / action / adventure and romance - it is exciting).
- As you already mentioned this first season on the growth of Superboy, we can assume that there is continuity in the growth of the character of Superboy? and Miss Martin?
- You could tell if there will be the development of the problem x Superboy Superman (Acceptance)?
* Of course I would like to do a lot more questions for you about this series, but ... well, I better wait, right?
If I violating any rule, a thousand apologies! It was not my Intent.
I hope that all the characters will continue and that you do not mind me answering these questions (sorry my English, I am Brazilian but as it is not very good. I hope you can understand! Lol).
Hugs and thanks!
SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
Hello, Mr. Weisman,
I've got some questions about Young Justice.
a. I've always believed that in every season of a television show, there is usually a major theme that is explored within the entirety of that season of a show. This brings me to my question: What is the overall theme of the first season of Young Justice?
b. Without exposing any serious spoilers whatsoever, what can you tell us about what we can hope to expect for the remaining 8 episodes of the first season?
c. While I understand that the show focuses on the teenage superheroes, we know little to no information about the pasts of the Justice League members (based on your responses thus far) of Earth-16. Without risking any major spoilers,is there anything else more that you are able to reveal to us? Here are some example questions:
1. Did any of the founding members ever met each other before the they came together to form the Justice League?
2. Aside from the friendship between Batman and Superman (as seen in "Schooled"), were there any close friendships between other the members, and if so, which ones and for how long have they been friends?
3. With little to no information about the members' pasts, and without risking any major spoilers, can we assume the pasts of all the members are the same as they are in the comics (before the DC relaunch), or have they been changed? I ask because I found nothing in previous postings to suggest any changes; perhaps I may not have looked hard enough. However, if there were any changes, and again, without risking any major spoilers, can you please tell us what was changed specifically? (This question, overall, would definitely give many fans some closure, in my opinion, and as I'm sure you may sympathize.)
d. At the end of "Failsafe," Martian Manhunter stated that Miss Martian's telepathy is far more powerful than his own. In your opinion, does that suggest that this is rare in the Martian race? Also, if her telepathy is so powerful, what is the worse you think she can possibly do, (aside from from what happened in that episode)?
e. When can we hope to see more of Superman and the Flash in future episodes? I ask because thus far, their appearances have been short, and we don't hear them speak at all lately. Will we be given the chance to see them in a much bigger role, as from saving people that is?
f. In your opinion, and without spoiling anything, how do you think season one will end?
Thanks for reading. I hope that all my questions will be answered.
a. Secrets and Lies. Also independence.
b. Without spoilers? No.
c. Probably not.
1. Any? Yes.
2. Plenty. But I'm not going to list them all.
3. No, you cannot assume anything is the same as in the comics - pre or post relaunch. You can't assume anything not in evidence in either the series or our companion comic book. And even some of that stuff is intentionally false information.
3a. Closure? How would this give ANYONE closure? What am I supposed to be sympathizing with exactly? I'm just not understanding this point. Anyway, I'm willing to give an example from the show of where things are different from the original comics: in the comics, Garth became Aqualad. In our series, he passed on that opportunity, and Kaldur became Aqualad.
d. I don't understand this question either? Are you asking if it's rare for any other Martian to be more powerful than J'onn? Beyond that, SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
e. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
f. How do I think it will end? I KNOW how it ends. So how could I answer this without spoilers?
what is lex luthor reputation on earth 16?
Depends who you talk to.
I don't know if you can call it a spoiler, but how did Red Arrow knew Artemis was going out of the gate in Gotham in the episode "Infiltrator"? and can you please give information about when episode 19 will air? Tnx. Love your show!
Episode 119 airs on Saturday, March 3rd, 2012.
"going out of the gate"? I'm not sure what you mean.
Big fan of Young Justice, keep up the good work!
1) On YJ the friendships between Kid Flash/Robin and Red Arrow/Kaldur are evident but I was wondering: Who is Conner's closest friend on the team (not counting M'gann)?
2) Since Conner has aged 16 years in a span of 16 weeks at Cadmus, does he now age at a normal rate because he is out of his pod?
1. Why not counting M'gann?
2. Guess we'll find out.
First off; seriously Young Justice is amazing. I can't even express in words to you how much I love it hahaha. :]
I would imagine this being a spoiler, but I just have to ask, will we be seeing any more of Barbara Gordon in the series/tie-in-comics? (Extremely sorry if someone already asked this-I looked through the archives and I didn't see anything..)
SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
Hey Mr. Weisman,
I got a quick question to ask you. In "Revelation," just after one of the plant creatures destroyed Batman's aerial vehicle, was Batman using his cape to glide away or something? I ask because it seems the transition from his vehicle getting destroyed to him being able to escape unharmed went a little too quickly for me to see it accurately.
Thanks.
I honestly don't remember off the top of my head.
1. Will we ever see Secret/Greta again?
2. Why was Artemis so upset when she realized M'gann and Conner were dating?
4. Will we be seeing Harm again?
5. Where were Harm and Greta's parents?
6. How did Harm know that he had to kill Greta to be pure?
1. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
2. ASKED AND ANSWERED.
3. You didn't have a question 3.
4. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
5. ASKED AND ANSWERED.
6. He believed it.
I believe a demon has possessed my alarm clock.
I believe this demon to be related to the demon that already possesses my bathroom scale.
I do not believe I can be shaken from these beliefs.
Anyone out there remember MECHA-NATION, the three-issue comic book mini-series created by Victor Cook, developed by Vic, Greg Guler & myself, written by me and drawn by Antonio Campo?
Cuz we FINALLY finished it!
The MARCH PREVIEWS will be out on FEBRUARY 29th and will contain order information for MECHA-NATION #1-3!!!
(That's right, if you missed the first issue, you'll now have the opportunity to get all three (the complete story) at once!!)
Make sure you friends and fans know about PRE-ORDERING as that will be important for us in getting the word and the book out to stores everywhere!
The book itself will be out in May.
It's a really fun story, and Antonio did a great job illustrating it! Check it out!!
Hey Greg,
I need to ask you some things in regards to the answering of questions by you about Young Justice.
What topics do you usually allow to be answered in regards to when we ask questions about...
a. what we already know about the show thus far?
b. what we don't know about the show thus far (which doesn't risk exposing any spoilers)?
c. topics that require your opinions/educated guesses (again, which doesn't risk exposing any spoilers)?
On a side note, my other question is in regard to the first rule of your guidelines which you stated in your introduction page. Does the rule imply you reject the notion of "giving the fans of the show what they want"? Is it because ideas for the show stated by fans usually conflicts with the ideas for the show that you (and your team) work with and have already planned?
Thanks for taking the time to read these important question that I have for you.
a, b and c are all fine assuming, as you noted, spoilers are TRULY not involved.
But the best way to figure out what I will and won't answer is to read through the kind of questions I already HAVE answered.
As to your side note, you're completely missing the point.
I won't look at original ideas because they could get me in trouble LEGALLY. It has NOTHING AT ALL to do with giving or not giving fans "what they [think they] want".
BUT... even if this weren't a legal issue, fans need to keep in mind is that by the time they see enough to comment and make suggestions, we've already locked our stories down, and I couldn't alter course to give fans what they want. This would be true whether or not I agreed that any given fan had a great idea. It's just too late.
Robin has been doing this since he was 9?, how does Batman get away with that? The Gotham PD just goes along with it, did the league know about it?
SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
Hi Greg. I just want to start this off by saying that I appreciate all the time and effort you put into answering these questions.
Although I enjoy nearly every aspect of the show, I've noticed that a particular strength of Young Justice is the incredible voice acting. Do you know if footage will ever be released of the actors recording some of their lines? I think it would be incredibly fun to watch their expressions, movements, et cetera while they voice their different characters. It would be especially amusing to see the expressions on both Jason Spisak and Stephanie Lemelin's faces while recording their individual parts for an argument between Wally and Artemis.
Once again, thank you so much, and amazing job on the show so far!
If you're talking about on camera footage, I don't think any exists.
whoops, typo:
"5-The description of M'gann's origin differs gratefully with he own words in the comics. Er...I can't think of a single question that wouldn't qualify as a spoiler request. "
That should read "differs greatly from her". Still haven't thought of a none spoiler question.
Probably isn't one at this point.
Hello, Mr. Weisman. I hope you had a wonderful holiday season.
My question, provided it's not a major spoiler, is what kinds of Kryptonite exist on Earth-16, what can they do to a Kryptonian, and how many have been discovered at the present time?
SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
Hello again, Greg! Had some more questions after watching the latest episode:
-Seeing as "Secrets" was written by Peter David, and dealt with characters introduced in his own Young Justice comic, there's something I've been wondering: How did Peter actually come to write for the show?
-On the same token, was it his idea for Harm to speak almost constantly in the third person until the end?
-Was there any struggle with BS&P over the revelation that Harm killed his sister to gain his powers? I was impressed by how the episode handled it: it's clear, but the script doesn't come right out and say it.
-OK, I have to know whose idea it was to have Miss Martian morph into a demonic Marvin the Martian and then roar like Godzilla. Because that was ridiculously funny.
-Going back a couple episodes, "Failsafe" was probably one of the best episodes from a pure acting standpoint, especially Jason Spisak (his cry of "ARTEMIS!" and then "They're dead! Every last one of them!" were especially gut-wrenching) and Danica McKellar. I realize that's less a question than a compliment, but I'd appreciate it if you passed it on to Jamie and the actors nonetheless.
-Were the costumes for the characters in "Secrets" in the script or hashed out in designs/storyboards?
That's all for now, and I thank you again for putting up with us. Can't wait for more Young Justice!
Thanks,
Chris Spider
1. Peter, I believe, heard about the series and contacted Paul Levitz about the possibility of working on it. Paul, in turn, contacted my boss Sam Register. Sam contacted me and told me Peter was interested in writing on the series, and I contacted Peter.
2. There was no struggle over the fact of it, but there was some discussion over where her grave should be located.
3. That was my idea.
4. I will, thanks.
5. Most of the Halloween costumes were planned in advance of the script. Others came at various stages along the way.
Hey Greg,
Just wanted to stop by and say how much I LOVED "Secrets". It's easily my new favourite episode of the show. Ben Diskin's portrayal has got to be one of the creepiest things I've ever seen in western animation.
Thanks.
Can kaldur talk to swim like aquaman?
Who's stronger aqualad or superboy?
Also who is the better fighter?
1. Did you mean 'talk to fish'? If so, no.
2. Superboy.
3. Depends on the circumstances.
I was wondering your opinion on the New 52. Not the execution, I have a hunch you don't have the time to read much of any of it, but the idea of it.
Although I have found a few books I really like, in general I object to heaving aside continuity and trying to rejam the history back into a too short time frame while wiping out character development. The idea of accessibility is a red herring because if they were capable of sticking to self contain arc inviting to new readers they wouldn't need a reboot to do so. Then again, I came into comics after Crisis on Infinite Earths and am conditioned into thinking it was necessary.
As you noted, I have NOT had the time to read the New 52, so I will not comment on that specifically. Whether or not it works creatively depends more than anything else on execution. Since I haven't seen the execution, I can't respond to how it works creatively. But I KNOW that commercially it's been a HUGE hit. I like to believe that it wouldn't have done quite so well, if it wasn't executed well too.
But generally, on the idea of reboots, I do have a handful of thoughts:
1. I don't want to be a hypocrite. When we started Spectacular Spider-Man and again on Young Justice, we were effectively doing a continuity reboot. I feel when adapting something to a new media, that's essential, but it doesn't change the fact that (a) we did it and (b) I was relieved to be able to do it. Relieved to be able to jettison elements that I felt didn't work or were redundant or confusing, etc. Our goal, particularly on Spider-Man, was to come up with something Classic, Cohesive, Coherent, Contemporary and Iconic. So how can I object if the comics themselves want to do this?
2. In the end, whether or not either SpecSpidey or YJ was/is successful depends on our execution of our ideas, additions and cullings. I like to think both shows are successful, but that's a judgement each individual viewer would have to make for him or herself.
3. I was working on staff at DC Comics during the publication of the original Crisis on Infinite Earths. In fact, during my very first editorial meeting, I raised the question as to why we weren't starting ALL our books over (with the numerical exceptions of Detective and Action Comics) with issue #1. I remember very clearly a collective groan rising up from the conference room table. (They had dealt with this question for months before my arrival.) On the one hand, they wanted Crisis to be a real sea-change, a true reboot (before we knew that term). On the other hand, if you truly reboot Batman, then Robin doesn't exist yet. No Robin, no other sidekicks either. So no Teen Titans. And at the time, the New Teen Titans was the company's best selling book.
4. So the end result was that some things got rebooted and some did not.
5. This was complicated by the fact that certain creators came late to the party, and certain characters got reboots too long AFTER Crisis.
6. And so, as a READER, I couldn't help feeling that - rather than simplifying the continuity - Crisis made it more complicated. This will happen in general, naturally, as time passes and more and more comics are produced by a variety of creators and editors, but Crisis seemed to exacerbate the problem for me personally.
7. In part this was because, I really liked the DC Multiverse. I agree that it was abused to the point of confusion. (And I think it was nuts that Earth TWO had the forties heroes and Earth ONE had the sixties heroes. Just the odd backwards numbering itself created additional unnecessary confusion.) But if limits had been placed on the number of parallel earth stories and crossovers, I think it could have been fine.
8. ESPECIALLY, if they had created a new Earth-THREE, starting over with heroes of the eighties, with Superman and Batman (being new to the hero thing but) remaining relatively constant. But with a new Green Lantern (for example) as different from Hal Jordan as Jordan was from Alan Scott.
9. But that didn't happen. And in fact, though I've read very few comics since 1996, my understanding is that reboots have hit over and over at both DC and Marvel. That negates reader trust in the worth and weight of the stories they're reading. It's more insidious than obvious. And you risk alienating old readers, even as you may or may not attract new ones. You'll always get a short term gain off of a reboot, because everyone wants to check it out. But long term...
10. And going back to my first point - which is that most everything depends on execution - I personally didn't love the execution of some of the post-Crisis rebooting. Some people may have loved it. And that's totally legit. But some of the rethinking on certain individual characters didn't work too well for me.
11. Though personally I think the Bates-Weisman-Broderick reboot on Captain Atom from his Charlton incarnation was brilliant. ;)
12. So, personally, my feeling on reboots in general is that you either do them or you don't. You've got to be thorough and ruthless about it, or don't bother, because otherwise - long term - you're creating more problems than you're solving.
13. And still and all, ultimately, it all depends on execution.
Most recent comics....so I see how General Eiling could get into Failsafe through the teams experience. That still leaves the question of Bard, and as someone else caught, Reid.
Secret- didn't blow me away like the other recent episodes...but I don't need to be completely blown away each episode. Few things:
1- Loved Mal showing up in Conner's original comic costume... and Conner not liking it. I've always preferred him in a real costume, though in context of the show it makes sense he doesn't have one. (Also loved Marvin the Martian's 'appearance'.)
2- It's been ages since I've reread the original Young Justice comics, but since Peter David also wrote this ep, I guess some connections can be drawn. The connection I seemed to have missed way back when was that Harm actually loved Gretta. Given how he seemed such a sociopath even in childhood flashback, it never occurred to me he killed his sister because he actually cared for her. (He seemed to harbor no such feelings for their parents.) Very vaguely I now remember a scene in Gretta's swiss cheese memory implying a relationship. It leaves me in the awkward position of wanted to reread the books to refresh my memory and not wanting to as not to confuse the show.
3-I was surprised how negatively Artemas reacted to Conner and M'gan's relationship. I had gotten the impression that she was knowingly pursuing Wally. That said, I like Zatanna picking up on it and her general offer and pushing for talking about the various things Artemas has bottled up.
4-I was also surprised that part of the team, well, excluding Wally, still thought Artemas was really Green Arrow's niece. I figured they all just assumed that the League vouched for her. So did Robin figure it out or did Bruce tell him?
5-The description of M'gann's origin differs gratefully with he own words in the comics. Er...I can't think of a single question that wouldn't qualify as a spoiler request.
4. Robin figured it out. Batman would not have betrayed Artemis' confidence.
This is a less serious question, but I find myself particularly curious. If Robin and Aqualad hadn't skipped out on the dance to have a meeting with Batman and Red Arrow, what would they have dressed up as?
As a closing note, Secrets was a wonderfully done episode, with many shocking and powerful moments in it(seriously thought the sword was going to kill Harm for a few seconds after it rejected him. Would have been an interesting end, albeit a bit too... gruesome for a kid's show, though the fact that I believed it could happen shows how much you guys take the audience seriously, and I like that)
I also liked the insight into Artemis' character, though it would have been nice for her to open up just a bit... or at least finish that sentence, even if we did know what she was about to say.
1. I don't know.
In "failsafe" during the scene where red arrow Zatanna are getting ready, and Garth and Tula come through the teleporter, who is the other girl standing next to Zatanna?
Rocket.
1. why did ya'll deleted some of my questions?
2. Do durlans exist on earth 16?
3. Are the light members equal or is there a rank?
1. I didn't. If our moderator did, it was because you broke one of our rules.
2. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
3. They're equals.
I liked Queen Mera, will she make more appearances?
SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
Greetings Mr. Weisman,
I want you to know Young Justice is my favorite new show on cartoon network and that I LOVED the episode "Secrets," it was SO CREEPY that I almost forgot I was watching a cartoon (which in alot of ways is better than live action in my opinion lol). Harm was one seriously spooky bad guy, super powers and magic sword aside, what made him truly horrifying was how he came across as a realistic sociopath, a monster you could, god forbid, encounter in real life as opposed to a killer android or alien invader, etc. He wasn't scary because of his powers & magic sword, he was scary because he was a madman who just happened to acquire super powers to go along with his already impressive skills (worse possible scenario for the good guys). What I'd like to ask is...
1) Did Harm's super powers, his crazy strength & invulnerability, come from the Sword of Beowulf along with the lightning bolt attacks or were they powers he already possessed? I only ask because I was confused by the scene where Gretta removed the tattoo mark from over his heart...I know Harm lost control over the sword when Gretta shook his resolve & made him feel guilt, but was the tattoo the physical manifestation of his link to the Sword or was it somekind of magic seal he already had in place to grant him all those other powers?
2) Where did Harm learn his fighting skills? He had to have received training in martial arts and swordsmanship from someone right? Or did he seriously teach himself all those fighting moves? Which, if that is the case, is pretty damn scary in and of itself O_O
3) Where were Harm's and Gretta's folks? Did Harm kill them too or were they orphans?
1. His super-human abilities came from the Sword. She didn't take his tattoo. You misinterpreted the action.
2. He's mostly self-taught... through fighting others.
3. ASKED AND ANSWERED.
Will we ever see a depiction of the planet Krypton on YJ?
SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
Love Secrets! Just wished it showed more of Artemis past. Anyway loved it can't wait until next episode.
Anyway just curious though, why was Artemis upset when she realized Miss. M. and Supperboy were a couple. was it A)She is crushing on Superboy? B)She sees Miss. M. as a sister/close friend and thought she would tell her if they were dating? or C)We will see why in a future episode?
Please give me a reason. Thanks:)
A and B and more. It's complicated.
Hey Greg,
I've got a curious questions to ask you.
a. Young Justice is classified as Earth-16 in the DC multiverse, although there had been contradictory information about this version of Earth prior to the announcement that the show would take place here. The first contraction claims that Earth-16 was the home of the Super-Sons (Superman Jr. and Batman Jr.) as indicated by early material such as DC Nation Issue #89. The second contradiction, which ruled out the Super-Sons continuity, claims that an alternate version of Superman (who was called Christopher Kent) was a native to this universe, as indicated by "Countdown: Arena" (This was a four-issue comic book series). This leads me to my question: When you decided you use Earth-16 for your show, did you (and your team) noticed these contradictions before when working on your ideas for the show, and did you set up some kind of story-wise explanation as to how these contradictions were removed?
b. At the end of "Schooled," Professor Ivo managed to evade The Team. However, in "Terrors," he somehow winds up in Belle Reve. Will this somehow be explained in a later episode of the show or in a future comic issue?
c. Miss Martian, as with all other Martians, are vulnerable to fire. However, in "Revelation," after Robin destroys the Ivy's plant transmitter, she was shown next to Robin and small flames were around them from the destruction of the transmitter. Interestingly, she was not shown to be vulnerable at that time. Was that some kind of mistake?
Thanks for reading.
a. ASKED AND ANSWERED.
b. ASKED AND ANSWERED.
c. The flames weren't that close and/or weren't giving off that much heat.
First of all this show it absolutely amazing. It is my favorite. All the other shows just are super boring! Please keep going! I was just wondering What are the episodes for December?
Of what year?

68. I don't recall it being hard, though of course we were glad to have her as part of the cast.
69. I don't know.
70. Fawcett City.
70a. Don't know.
I think what that one anonymous person meant about Artemis living in Gotham is, if she's supposed to be Green Arrow's sidekick, shouldn't she be living in Star City, where she can be more available to, uh, do sidekick things?
But she doesn't live in Star City. She lives in Gotham City. It's where she was brought up and where she lives. It's where her mother lives. Just because it would be convenient for Green Arrow, doesn't make it so.
Fortunately, Star City is just a Zeta-Tube ride away.
Did mutants exist in the spider-man show?
If you're talking Spectacular Spider-Man, then they might have if we had had more episodes and permission...
I definitely had plans for Cyclops, Beast and Professor X, at least. Iceman too. Heck, maybe Firestar, eventually.
Why does it take you so long to answer questions?
Because I get questions like THIS one, taking up my time.
And because people insist on bogging down the queue with spoiler requests and repeat questions.
And because I have a job and a life, i.e. other things that I NEED to do.
This, believe it or not, I do because it's fun. (Most of the time.)
What was lex luthor hair color?
Was joe chill a hired assassian hired to kill the waynes and was he ever sorry that he killed them?
How did batman and co found out about venom?
Can kryptoians have kids with humans on earth 16?

1. Red, I think.
2a. No.
2b. Not so far.
3. Batman's a detective.
4. I don't see how.
5. I don't know. Probably a gunshot wound of some kind. No broken backs, if that's what you're getting at.
why did clu kill his own men on tron betrayal.
I have no expertise on Tron. And I'm betting you knew that.
1. Why did Klarion joined the light?
2. What young justice questions are considered spoilers?
3. Are you bothered by the amount of young justice questions?
4. Where do most supervillians draw the line for instance do most of the belle reeve inmates hate sexual crimes?
5. How long has guardian been working at cadmus and how long has he been a superhero?
6. How long has green arrow has been a superhero?
1. Mostly, because it seemed like fun.
2. Anything that asks about stuff yet to come.
3. Not by the "amount" of questions, but I am bothered by (a) the repeated requests for spoilers and (b) the repeated requests for answers that have ALREADY been answered. (That last category would include this question, by the way.)
4. The population of an entire prison is too diverse to answer this.
5. He's been a hero for two years and head of security at Cadmus for one.
6. Nine years.
1.Why did Artemis laugh when Zatanna asked how long have Conner and Megan been a couple?
She thought Zatanna was confused.
Hello Mr. Weisman,
I know that sometimes in DC Comics, there are storylines that are presented that usually take place a certain number of years ahead of the present, which usually show possible futures. In your opinion, will this concept be explored in the Young Justice Show at some point?
SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
About Failsafe - do the characters in the training actually exist? We know Eiling exists in the real world, but are Jason Bard and David Reid actual soldiers or only created for the mission?
They are or were soldiers that Martian Manhunter knows.
Hi Greg,
Without spoiling any names, can you please tell how many villains there are from each character's Rouges' Gallery (For example: Batman -## villains)? I don't believe numbers count as spoilers because technically you're not naming anybody, and giving the numbers allows fans to think about the possible candidates, since not every villain will show up on the show, right?
Thanks! Looking forward to the next episode!
No. Just no. Aside from the fact, that this is a de facto spoiler, no matter how you spin it, it's also a massive pain to compile. (And that's aside from the fact that some villains could easily be listed under more than one hero. For example, Kingpin is both a Spider-Man and a Daredevil villain.)
Once the season ends - YOU CAN DO IT!
Otherwise, just exercise a little patience.
1.In terrors why didn't Superboy wait until they were back at the cave and weren't undercover to kiss Miss Martian?
2.How well do Conner and Mal get along?
3.Does anyone at school know Conner and Megan are dating?
1. It was an impulse.
2. You've seen 'em. What do you think?
3. I think many people at Happy Harbor High assumed they were dating even before they were.
If Zatanna was grounded, why was she allowed to gallivant around on Halloween?
Who confirmed she was actually grounded - let alone for how long?
Is there anyone in Young Justice that can sing? It's a silly question, but just asking.
I'm sure there is.
Hey Greg,
Hey Mr. Weisman,
I've got some quick questions about Young Justice. If these questions accidentally expose a potential spoiler, I sincerely apologize.
a. In regards to Wolf's tears and exposed muscles (as a result of being exposed to Kobra Venom), will they eventually heal overtime, or is the damage permanent?
b. In "Failsafe" Superboy expressed shock, and perhaps interest, when he learns about Superman's Fortress of Solitude. In your opinion, do you believe that he will ever get the opportunity to visit it?
c. In the same above mentioned episode, why is Superman wearing a oxygen mask? I could have sworn that recent comics (prior to the DC relaunch) show he was able to breathe in space. With that in mind, what version of the comics is the Young Justice version of Superman based on? (Golden Age? Silver Age?)
d. I understood that the first new series regular was introduced into The Team about halfway through the season (Isn't that about episode 13 or so?), but who is it exactly? If it was Wolf or Sphere, I apologize for not taking either of them into account.
e. Without needing to spoil any identities whatsoever, and in your opinion, what is the maximum number of members of The Team you are trying to aim for? To be more specific, how many males and females are there going to be?
f. The costumes of the characters portrayed thus far seems to appear to be just like those worn by characters prior to DC relaunch. In your opinion, do you think we will be able see any costumes based on those worn by characters since the start of the DC relaunch?
Thanks, and keep those episodes coming!!
a. You're assuming it's damage.
b. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
c. Superman of Earth-16 cannot breathe in the vacuum of space. No one can. Some entities may not require oxygen to live. Superman does.
c2. He's not 'based' on any single version of anything.
d. Sphere was introduced in episode 109. Wolf in episode 113. What exactly are you asking? Through episode 118, we still only have the original six regulars on the series.
e. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
f. All our character costumes are art directed by Brandon Vietti and redesigned/reconceived by Phil Bourassa based on the needs/tone/etc. of our series with a mind to what is iconic about any individual character's look. That won't change.
Did the Dick Grayson in your Young Justice Earth-16 Universe skip a grade? At 13, he is definitely on the young side for those starting high school in most US school system.s Because his birthday is in March and not August/September, he wouldn't be one of the kids who start their schooling years almost a year younger than everyone else.
Don't assume you know when his birthday is.
Otherwise, ASKED AND ANSWERED.
Dear Greg;
Secrets is, beyond any shadow of a doubt, my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE EPISODE of the series!!!! You guys accurately got Harm & Secret down perfectly! Secret was my favorite character of the original series, and you got her so right! And Harm, wow. Very good job, I hope he'll get more screen time in the future. The only thing that makes me sad about Secret's appearance is that the way she was done lends her to being a one-shot character. And I was really hoping to see more of her in the series. I'd ask if she'll show up, but I know the answers I get will be A-Spoiler Request or B-It's a secret.
Back to praise; Loved the interation between Zatanna and Artemis, very nicely done. The store "Abel's House of Secrets"? Awesome nod to Cain & Abel, thank you! Also loved the party and Mal's costume being "Superman. Done right." Oh, and M'Gann turning into Marvin. Now, a question; Was the sword of Beowulf a previously existing idea? Or original to the show? Cause I also liked the twist with the "pure of heart" thing, very reminiscent of the loopholes in Gargoyles magic.
Anyway, keep up the good work. And again, thank you for using my favorite character from the original series!
I seem to recall the Sword of Beowulf being Peter David's addition. You'd have to ask him if it was from a pre-existing story.
Hello Mr. Weisman,
I have a few questions concerning Batman's vehicles on the show.
a. Are all his vehicles based on military technology?
b. Considering all his vehicles have "Bat-" in their names, is the vehicle he used in "Revelation" a Batwing or some kind of Batjet?
c. Considering it was used in the simulation, does the vehicle he used in space in the episode "Failsafe" actually existed (meaning in the "real" world after Miss Martian was the last one to wake up). What kind of vehicle was that, a Batshuttle spacecraft?
d. Will be seeing Batman's Batmobile in action any time soon? Considering its various appearances on multiple Batman-related shows and movies, what will it look like: a bat-like car or a tank-like miltary car? (I'm rooting for the tank!!)
On a side note, I have a question regarding the appearances of future episodes. Is the show going to be on another break or the will the show continue next week to the very end of the season?
Thanks, and keep up the good work! You're doing fantastic!
a. I don't know.
b. Something like that.
c. Perhaps.
d. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
The show continues on March 3rd, 2012.
I saw Secrets and might I say it isn't the best, but it satisfies. It was really hard trying to take notice of all the costumes references. I saw the Flaming C costume. 1. Does this establish The Flaming C as a real hero in on Earth-16.
I'm really glad you're keeping Conner and M'Gann's relationship a secret at least to others, but I'm sure by the time you answer this the whole team will know.
2. If Robin and Aqualad know about their relationship does some members of the League know. 2a. Does Martian Manhunter know. If he does what does he think of it.
3. Will the Team's reaction to Sphere's new form be shown like in the show or comic book.
Thanks for your time.
1. It establishes Conan O'Brien as real on Earth-16.
2. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
2a. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
3. It took place off-camera.
