One more thing I kind of forgot on my previous question (and with this I'll probably stop bothering for quite a while)
I realize you were probably thinking of (even) older comics when you put the magic house in Secrets but it still left me pondering... if it were up to you (I don't even know if you could secure permission!), would we see any cameos from The Endless or other such characters?

"But as I've said to others who already asked the same basic question, I think you're viewing what happened in terms too black and white. I do NOT think that Superman is behaving out of character. He's been violated and is having problems dealing with it, getting his head around it. He's found a rationale in his head to justify his behavior toward Superboy, that for now at least, is working for him. I'm not going to defend his actions, nor will I be unsympathetic to them. It is, by design, a complex problem.
And no real human being has perfect empathy. And Superman is nothing if he's not thoroughly human.
In any case, I doubt I'm going to convince you, so we'll just have to agree to disagree for now. Perhaps, if you stay tuned and see how this thread plays out, you'll appreciate it more. Or perhaps not."

1) Why have Miss Martian and Superboy been trying to keep their relationship a secret? They've kept their displays of affection as private as possible and they switched to private telepathic communication in "Alpha Male" when there were tensions in their relationship that needed to be addressed.
2) Why didn't M'gann tell Wally that she's been seeing Conner? Was it a case of her enjoying the attention he was giving her, or was it because she simply couldn't be bothered to set the record straight? (Either way, she was allowing him to make a fool of himself.)
Greg Weisman says:
"Two main reasons: (a) because it's something that belongs to them and they want it to themselves and (b) they don't want their judgement called into question on missions."

"I think the main problem that these two have is that M'gann thinks its so obvious that Wally's not in the running that she hasn't bothered to tell him. She assumes he knows. But he's too dense to see the obvious. I'm not blaming her or him. It's just a disconnect . And disconnects are where drama, conflict and, yes, even comedy comes from."

Hi! I'm a huge fan of all your shows. Now, I have a couple questions regarding Young Justice.
1. Is the Blue Beetle Dan Garret, Ted Kord, or Jaime Reyes?
2. Does Booster Gold exist in this series?
3. Will Huntress ever make an appearance?
4. Will The Question make an appearance?
Thank you for your time and I hope you have a pleasant day!

SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
1.Are we going to see the Watch tower in YJ?
2.What is Conner's worst subject in school?
3.If Superboy gets his powers from Earth's yellow sun does that mean he'll develop
Supermans other powers like heat vision and flight?
1. Yes.
2. I don't know. English, I'd guess, just because he'd be VERY good at the others due to his G-Gnome education. But I don't actually think he's bad at English either.
3. He won't, but that's because of his human DNA.
1.Have Conner and M'gann been on a date?
2.How come out of all the males on the team Superboy is closest to Aqualad?
3.Does Mr. Carr have any powers?
4.Why are Conner and M'Gann keeping there relationship a secret from the team?
5.Is Conner good at sports?
1. Depends on what you count as a "date".
2. He likes all three, but he appreciates Aqualad's serenity.
3. Doesn't every great teacher?
4. Two main reasons: (a) because it's something that belongs to them and they want it to themselves and (b) they don't want their judgement called into question on missions.
5. He hasn't tried in any significant way, but probably.
Dear Mr Weisman,
Let me first say that I'm big Young Justice fan. I love the the character development seen in the show. I do have a few questions, though:
1. Will Laura Bailey or Troy Baker be voicing any character in the show?
2. Are Tula and Garth acquainted with Kaldur's mother (you know, seeing how close they were in Atlantis)?
3. I'm itching to ask if we get to see any Mathlete action from Robin/Dick in the show. But since that's probably a spoiler request, you can ignore the point. I just HAD to type it out.
4. Is Iris related to Wally's dad or his mother? Her maiden name name is West, which would mean she's Rudy's sister. However, she and Mary look so ridiculously alike that I had to ask this.
5. Wikipedia says that Logan Grove will be voicing Beast Boy in the show. Can you confirm or deny this?
To conclude, I'd like to thank you for the stellar voice cast you've put together for the show. Props to you, Brandon and Jamie Thomason!
1. I'm afraid I'm unfamiliar with those names.
2. They've met.
3. Okay.
4. I don't see any particular resemblance between Mary and Iris. As you noted, Iris is Rudy's younger sister.
4. Well, he's voicing Garfield Logan. Beyond that, you can do the math.
Before I ask a question I just really wanted to say I really appreciate all the work you and all the other writers, voice actors, animators, etc. have been doing on the show Young Justice. I really loved W.I.T.C.H. when I was little, but by far young justice has been one of the best shows I've seen in years. My comic book knowledge is pretty limited, but I love this show and all the characters in it. Thank you for all the work you've done, the fans of your shows really appreciate it.
I was really sad when young justice went on break, but the new episode Misplaced did not disappoint despite the wait. I only have one question that I had not seen in the unanswered questions or archieves yet, but if I missed it I owe you a thousand apologies.
1. When Billy Batson first switched over to the adult dimension by becoming captain marvel, why did the plane disappear? It seemed slightly bizarre since all the other cars seemed to exist in both dimensions, so I was wondering if there was any specific reason for its disappearance?
Thank you for taking the time to answer all the questions on Ask Greg, and I cant wait to see young justice next week!
1. The plane only disappeared from Billy/Cap's perspective. From the perspective of Adultworld, it didn't disappear; it was right where it always was, i.e. back in the hangar in Fawcett City.
What were the creative reasons that lead you to choose to write "Misplaced" personally/
Oh, a few things.
1. The complexity of it made it challenging for me - which is something I look for - but also would have made it difficult for a freelancer to take on and nail the vision I had in my head. So in a way it saved time to write it myself.
Plus there were a number of specific aspects that interested me, including:
2. The "death" of Zatara and its effect on Zatanna.
3. The advancement of the Wally/Artemis relationship.
4. The fact that the kids on Kidworld were actually handling the crisis better than the adults on Adultworld.
5. The advancement of Billy's storyline.
6. The visual of Batman talking to Aqualad 'directly' despite the fact that the audience knows that Billy/Cap is being used as a go between. I like that arty stuff.
7. The mix of humor, action and tragedy is always fun to write.
8. The fact that Baa Baa Black Sheep, Twinkle Twinkle and ABC have the same tune.
9. I'm fascinated with mob mentalities and demagogs. So, for example, if you've read or seen Castaway's speech to the Quarrymen recruits in "Nightwatch/The Journey" you'll recognize a similar technique in Crusher's rants at STAR LABS here.
10. The timeline: telling a story. Starting over and telling it again from another perspective and then merging it.
11. The dual world idea.
12. And ultimately, not just because it was a classic Young Justice story to adapt, but because it's SUCH a perfect story for a show about teen heroes, I couldn't resist.
There's probably more, but a dozen reasons will do for now.
1. Young Justice is my fav show. Love it. :) 2. Are Marvin and Wendy siblings in this DCU? 3. IS IT TRUE THAT YOU VOICE SNAPPER?!?!?!?!?! 8D 4. Unpopular opinion:Besides the team (and JL), the last three are my fav characters. (Even though they've been in only like 3 1/2 eps or so. XD ) (Also, I love how you often answer "SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT." You're one of my fav writers for TV shows. KEEP UP W/ THE GREAT WORK!!! ;D)
1. Thanks.
2. No. Marvin White and Wendy Harris are not siblings.
3. Well, I voice the adult Snapper, i.e. Lucas Carr, the Happy Harbor High Civics teacher.
4. Thanks.
Dear Greg,
Congrats on the return of Young Justice! And damn, what a return! First off, thank you for adapting the first story of the original YJ! And it was damn good! Thank you, thank you. Now for other things I liked about it, I loved the design on the Riddler, very classy. Also, appearances by Blackbriar, Faust, Wizard, all cool. And Zatara, holy crap that was awesome! Now onto a few random questions;
1-One thing I enjoyed about the original World Without Grown-Ups was the teen ehroes dealing with kids who went crazy. Had you more time in the episode, would you have shown some clips of kids doing stupid stuff?
2-How did you guys approach the deisgn for Riddler? Cause again it was an awesome deisgn.
1. We did, actually. There's a scene that we even animated where two tweens are joyriding in a speedboat and nearly get themselves killed, but Aqualad saves their bacon. (It's part of the sequence where Superboy saves the toddler from a crashed car and Miss Martian scares off the taggers. But it got cut for time.
2. I give full credit to Phil and Brandon on this. My main role was to walk in and fawn over it after it was done.
Is Zatanna now part of the team?
Greg Weisman says:
"Yes."
[Response recorded April 16, 2012.]
The split worlds was a nice idea but I was wondering just how did it work when they re-merged?
For example if a car was destroyed in one world and not in the other what would happen to the car when the worlds were merged again?
Had one of the adults worn the Helmet of Fate during the battle with the Sorcerors what would've happened after the worlds re-merged? Would there have been two Dr. Fate's or would one of the host's been chosen at random to keep the helmet suddenly?
Greg Weisman says:
"It means that whatever was ACTED upon takes precedent over what was not acted upon. So the Helmet of Fate stayed in Roanoke. The piece of the creature stayed with Riddler. And Amber's plane crashed."
[Response recorded April 16, 2012.]
We've just seen "Misplaced", and it was absolutely fantastic. I'll admit, I was worried about the "no adults theme", but I think it was a very original take on what some might call an overused trope. It was brilliant, original, and exciting, so kudos to you!
Another thing, congratulations on answering all your Ask Greg questions prior to March 3rd, and good luck with all the rest! Also, congratulations on Young Justice: Legacy! It's great to see Young Justice's success, you and the rest of the cast and crew definitely deserve it! It's a fantastic show.
On to a couple of questions;
1) The credits at the end of the episode appear to be incorrect, and are that of a future one. Would you be able to post the proper credits? I'd love to see who voiced Gordon, as well as Billy Batson.
2) The opening titles have been replaced with a single titlecard reading "Young Justice". Was this a decision made purely by yourself/crew, or did the change come around as a result of the DC Nation programming block?
Thanks very much for creating such a fantastic show, and I hope Cartoon Network has the sense to continue asking you for new seasons, because Young Justice - very honestly - is the best animated television series Cartoon Network has ever had. In fact, it's the only reason I watch CN! Thanks again. :)

Anyway, I was mostly thrilled with the premiere of DC NATION, but obviously frustrated that CN attached the WRONG episode's credits. So without further ado:

hi!i'm not sure what to ask,but curious are wally and artemis ever going to stop bickering
Now that you've seen (hopefully) episode 125 "Usual Suspects", what do you think?
1. so zatanna is an official member of the team right? and if so, will she be given an ID number?
2. how would you describe robins feelings towards Zatanna?
1. Yes and yes.
2. I think they're fairly self-evident.
Hey Greg! You are doing a great job on Young Justice. I just had a couple questions:
1. Are Bette and Barbara good friends? They are around each other a lot
2. This might sound stupid but, does anyone on the team (besides the mole) know who the mole is but, there hiding it for whatever reason.
3. are Green Arrow and Black Canary getting serious in their relationship?
4. Are Superboy and Miss Martian getting serious with, their relationship?
5. In Misplaced when some of the team went home to see thier parents and or relatives, why didn't we see Miss Martian reuniting with, John or Kaldur with, his mother or King Orm?
1. Not particularly. Barbara's a freshman. Bette's a sophomore.
2. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
3. See issues 20 and 21 of the YJ companion comic. (And, yes, that was a SPOILER REQUEST, but I like to pimp the comic.)
4. Define serious.
5. There wasn't screen time to show EVERY possible reunion.
Hello, thank you for taking fan questions! I love YJ, you guys are awesome! Anyway, I was wondering if we might see more Wonder Woman? Speaking or not I'd really like to know if she would make another apperence! Thanks! :D
By now, you've already seen more of her. And she's in the Justice League, so I think it's fairly self-evident that you'll see more of her still.
I have questions about Atlanteans.
1) Do Atlanteans eat their seafood raw? I don't see fires being lit underwater unless they have a special way of cooking food underwater.
2) Do all Atlanteans have a set of gills and a pair of lungs to breathe underwater and above the surface?
3) How was Kaldur's first experience breathing surface air? Did he choke/gasp or did he transition smoothly?
1. I would think for the most part, raw. But they have means of cooking should they want to. (Hot spring type things.)
2. Most do.
3. I'm sure it was a shock to the system, at least a little.
Now, see, this post was great. THREE questions, all on a similar topic. None previously asked or answered. And no request for a spoiler. Perfect.
Greg ive liked yourself since I was a kid Gargoyles, as a teen Spectacular Spider Man and now with Young Justice. I know you did a lot of stuff in between but those really stick out to me.
Anyway on to the questions and I'm trying to be careful to avoid any spoilers.
1. Youve said before that you have access to every DC character, does this also include Wildstorm characters?
2. Like on land would it be correct to assume that are different kinds of ethnic groups that occupy the population of Atlantis specifically the group that looks most human?
3. What did most Atlanteans evolve from or is magic involved?
4. Icon and Rocket operate on a global scale or are they mostly stick to the US and Dakota?
5. What is the Guardians of the Universe policy for how many GLs are needed for each sector?
6. Between the time of the JSA and the start of the JL were there any other active public superhero groups?
7. On the team right now who is the best hand to hand fighter?
8. Since Kaldur left before he could graduate magic school does that mean that since Zatanna joined the team she is the better magic user?
9. Speaking of Kaldur since he is Aquaman's lad does that mean that if Aquaman retires than Aqualad will become the new Aquaman, but not the new King of Atlantis?
10. What does being Aquaman mean anyway or how much overlap and what are the differences between being king of Atlantis and being Aquaman?
11. Do Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor operate in the same social circles?
12. In this continuity does Luciuos Fox know Batman's secret id?
13. Does Wonder Woman have a secret id?
14. Would it be safe to assume that other than Conner Kent no other hero has used the name Superboy?
15. Artemis grandparents were they good people or were they similar to her parents?
16. Back when the team was in Biyala the Light mentioned they had a new partner does this mean their new partner was joining the group of seven or did it mean they have a new business associate
Okay, again. TOO MANY QUESTIONS ON ONE POST.
TO THE MODERATORS: Feel free to delete any post that has more than five questions, give or take. I don't want to be anal about this. If a sixth question really is just an extension of question five, than we can be lenient. But the opposite is also true. If folks are cheating by asking a question 1 and then 1a and then 1b and then Ic, etc. so that it only APPEARS that they've asked five questions or fewer than delete.
I hate to do this, but I'm running out of options. As long as people continue to disregard the posted rules and guidelines, the queue will never shrink. And I feel like every time I sort of shrug and let it slide, I'm only making the situation worse. So I'm going to have to be tougher and make the moderators be tougher as well.
Now there are a bunch of really good questions up there, J-GL/Dattaboy, so I hope you repost them again - in three or more posts of REASONABLE LENGTH.
I wish some fans would stop dissing Talia and Catwoman...they are strong independent complex women and Batman is not cup of tea either. He has a history of jerkish behavior and commitment and intimacy issues. In your series he seems more approachable and kinder and I think that makes him even better for anti-heroines like Talia and Selina. And it's not like he has lacked for many so called "good" women. Some of those other women thrown at him are not even workable and therefore that is why we always go back to Talia and Selina. Yeah, I'm rambling but I think Talia and or Selina fit in Batman's world and the fact they have painful pasts make them more able to share and even understand Bruce's painful past. And in any case...it's your show/verse to explore. And I like it. Um, would be nice to see the awesome Damien Wayne debut on YJ.:)
Well, I'm particularly fond of the Selina Kyle that I grew up with - which may or may not match up with more recent interpretations. Talia interests me too. We'll (eventually) be seeing more of her in the comics. (Beware the "Serpent", I always say.)

Yeah, I'm just going to disallow ALL of this. I've warned before about asking too many questions on one post, with five being the max. In theory, I could answer the first five, but I feel like that would be rewarding you for breaking the rules.
Hey Mr. Greg Weisman,
It's me again. I know it's only been a couple of hours since my last posting, but I just watch âMisplaced,â and I got to say what was done to Zatara, and forcing him become Doctor Fate, was very cruel. Who would have thought that the Helmet of Nabu was such a selfish entity, to take Zatannaâs father away from her. So, now that Zatara is Doctor Fate, does that mean weâll never see him (as Zatara) again? I hope that, somehow, Zatanna will get her father back. Also, do you think the fallout of this Doctor Fate situation will somehow develop into its own story arc within the show? I have a strange feeling that my second question is somehow going to be right.
Thanks for taking the time to read my post.
Obviously, this is a significant event and won't be forgotten. Beyond that, SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
Hey Mr. Greg, great fan of your work.
My questions are the following:
1: Is the Guardian like the comics version (ie: A clone)? And is his name Jim Harper?
2: Was Red Tornado's technology unchanged throughout his life?
I've looked at the archives and haven't found anything regarding these questions, as you said, Guardian's been a hero for three years, but htat doesn't mean he couldnt be a clone, and I'm not sure if it's a spoiler, so forgive me if it is.
And thank you for your time.
1. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
1a. Yes, his name is Jim Harper.
2. No, he's been upgraded a few times.
Hi Greg! First of all, congratulations on the Young Justice video game! Can't wait for its release! I've just got one question, which I've been wondering about for a while:
1. When you use cultural references in the show (like Wally's Planet of the Apes reference in Alpha Male, or his 'Dumbledore' line in Denial) do you have to ask permission to include them in the script, or do you guys have pretty much free access to all Warner Brothers material?
Great job on the show! Its easily my favourite TV show right now- there's clearly a lot of talent and effort that goes into it, and it really pays off! Keeping my fingers crossed for a season 3!
1. It depends on HOW we use it. A mention like that is what's known as "de minimus". That's a legal term which basically means it's of little significance. And that's okay. Parody is also okay, though the definition of parody can be tricky. Obviously, a bigger use like our Marvin the Martian visual would have taken permission if not for the fact, that, yes, Young Justice and the Looney Toons characters are all part of the larger WB family.
Does the entire cast of the show get to see the episodes they recorded before they air?
Do they have access to the entire script or only their lines?
Do you make a point of hiding spoilers from them?
1. No.
2. The whole script.
3. Well... we don't go out of our way to spoil things for them. But we tell them what they need to know, and if it's in the script, they've seen it. We DO go out of our way to tell them NOT to spoil stuff for anyone else.
Hi Greg, I'm a big fan of your work, especially Young Justice and Spectacular Spider-Man. So what is your opinion on the Young Justice Wiki?
I haven't really had time to explore it much, though I've visited. My only real experience with wikis (other than wikipedia itself) is the Gargoyles Wiki. And the technology seems different on the YJ wiki, so I'm not as adept at navigating it.
Having given all those caveats, however, it seems great! There's a lot of incomplete articles - even in terms of what's already aired and/or been published in the comics - but I assume fans will fill that stuff in as time allows.
Hey Greg, just want to start by saying I freaking love Young Justice, it's probably my favourite show right now trumping even Game of Thrones, and I want to say a great big THANK YOU.
But going to my question: The YJ video game has just been announced, are you taking part in its writing/production in some form? Cause god that would be awesome.
Oh, also, I had the wonderful chance of meeting Crispin Freeman in the summer, seemed like a great guy, he's probably fun to work with.
But yeah, have a good day man, and thank you so much for making the greatest Comic based show in a long long time.
Brandon and I are both advising on the game.
And Crispin IS a great guy.
Whoops!!! Sorry about that one question about Klarion. I thought I read through the archives and (un)answered questions. I guess I may have skipped over it. I do sincerely apologize about that!!!
That's okay. It can happen. But for future reference, I truly appreciate the DESIRE to apologize. But in fact, all it really accomplishes is to further bog the queue. So in the the future, I'd recommend living with the error instead of acknowledging it.
In the Phineas and Ferb episode "Exaliferb!",during the "epic monster battle" part there was a gargoyle that kind of like one of your characters, wondering if you saw that and what you think of the show.Mattel's Monster High line has also included a character named Rochelle Goyle, she has big fin ears like some of yours, but she needs a tail. One of the Monster High pets is a gargoyle bulldog named Rockseena that reminded me of Bronx, and it seems like their going with your females eyes glow red rule, but the gargoyle pets still have wings. What do you think of the Monster High dolls?
I haven't seen any Phineas and Ferb's, though one of my good friends, Greg Guler is the character designer for the show, and I've heard great things. I just haven't had the time.
And I'm even more unfamiliar with Monster High. Sorry.
Wow! First I'd like to say great job with young justice, but I just have one question about episode 19.
1.I read that Klarion is ageless, right? So why is it that when Klarion and the other 4 sorcerers were creating the 2 different dimensions, Klarion went to the "child-only" dimension instead of staying on the adult one?
ASKED AND ANSWERED.
Since Starro's leg was moved in the adult dimension but not the kid dimension, yet The Light still had it when the worlds merged back together, then does that mean the adult dimension was the "real" world while the kids were sent to a pocket dimension, rather then things just being split? So the airplane is still uncrashed?
No. It means that whatever was ACTED upon takes precedent over what was not acted upon. So the Helmet of Fate stayed in Roanoke. The piece of the creature stayed with Riddler. And Amber's plane crashed.
Another question:
In issue 12 of the YJ tie-in comics, how was Ra's al Ghul able to persuade Clayface to sleep? Does he have some kind of mind control or hypnotic powers or something like that?
Pre-programmed failsafe hypnotic suggestion that all of Ra's Shadows are subjected to at the start of their training.
Loving this show so far. Got a few questions
1. If Superman doesn't have super breath on Earth-16 as you've said, then why is he shown using it in issue 2 of the tie-in comics?
1. That's not one I wrote, so I'd have to look at it, but I'm hoping there's another explanation. Otherwise, we're just going to have to admit it was a mistake.
YJ question:
Let's assume for the sake of argument that the mole, whoever he/she might be, knows he/she is the mole. Why doesn't M'gann read everybody's mind and find the mole? And for that matter, why doesn't J'onn do that?
We've tried to establish - in this Universe-16 - that telepathy isn't as foolproof as all that. That (a) you can't invade someone's mind without leaving a trace or being detected and (b) it's not hard for anyone trained to foil an attempt at mind reading. Even Bane, who in our universe is still relatively new at facing super-powered opponents was able to thwart Miss Martian.
All this, of course, is moot, however, since the RECENTLY REVEALED MOLE, Red Arrow, had no idea he was the mole.
It's been a bit of a while, so I thought I'd post a production update on Young Justice:
SEASON ONE
101-125 have all aired.
126 airs this coming Saturday and Sunday on Cartoon Network. (Check local listings and cable guides.) It's our big finale. You REALLY don't want to miss it.
SEASON TWO
201-206 are all in the can, and currently scheduled to begin airing one week after our Season One Finale. (Which makes me happy.)
207 - We previewed the music score today and we're mixing it on Thursday. If all goes well, it should be in the can by Tuesday at the latest.
208 - We spotted the music today. And should be in the can one week after 207.
209 comes back from overseas tomorrow for retakes and editing.
210-211 should arrive on the heals of 209. We still need to pick up one actor (who was unavailable at the time of the original recording) for these two shows in ADR, but that'll take about an hour or two for both episodes. It won't cause any delays.
212-216 are all overseas being animated.
217 ships today.
218 is in storyboard revision.
219 is waiting for Brandon and I to give notes on the storyboard.
220 - The board is being cleaned up now for notes.
COMIC BOOK
Issues 0-14 have all hit the stands and are available at stores or on-line.
Issue 15 concludes our Atlantis two-parter hits the stands this week.
Issue 16 is at the printers.
Issue 17 is being pencilled.
Issue 18 is scripted and waiting its turn.
Issue 19 is plotted and is being scripted now.
Issues 20-22 have been pretty much locked down story-wise, i.e. I know exactly what stories we're telling in these issues.
Issues 23 and Beyond - I've already got a fairly clear idea of where we're going and what stories we're going to tell. Not locked in, but I'm pretty clear.

I know I'm probably forgetting some folks, and I REALLY apologize! If you send me a reminder, I'll pimp you in another post!
Mr. Weisman, my question pertains to Talia al Ghul. Namely, that fact that, while I can ascertain that she's intended (not just in Earth-16, but generally) to be a sympathetic villain, I have never been able to muster up any sympathy for her whatsoever. I mean, I'm a fan of, and greatly respect, the work of Neal Adams and Dennis O'Neil, but, where Talia's concerned, they weren't trying very hard. In her original appearances, she doesn't have much of a personality to speak of, she's just a clich-ridden knock-off of similar characters like Fah Lo Suee (i.e., the exotically beautiful daughter of the "Yellow Peril/Fu Manchu" mastermind who's loyal to her father, but feels torn by her attraction to her father's nemesis). I never got why she was in love with Batman. She'd met him once, she can't've possibly known him very well. Plus, from Batman's point of view, here's this woman he barely knows. Her clearly mentally unbalanced Father shows up, offers her to him, and she's calling him "Beloved" and trying to get him to marry her. Most men would flee from that, as if pursued by hounds. Sure she's beautiful, but this is a comic book universe. Gorgeous women are the rule, it's not even exceptional. She seemed more like a crazy stalker than a geniune suitor. Why would he have feelings for her? I actually prefer her in more recent comics, were she's been more like her Father, a villain (or, at leat, a well-intentioned extremist). At least she has a personality that way.
On Earth-16, when we first meet her, she's actively helping her Father in his efforts to murder billions of people. This kind of limits the sympathy I can feel for her. The fact that she claims to have misgivings means exactly nothing. Her misgivings aren't going to make any of the people she kills any less dead. She doesn't shoot Batman because of her attraction to him, not because she realizes that what she's doing is wrong. Then she gets into a huff because her Father and Batman's lives don't revolve around her and I'm forced to agree with Alfred: she's a crazy stalker with Daddy issues and an international terrorist. Who cares what she thinks? Then we find out about what she did to Matt Hagen. Batman sensibly tells her they can't be together while she's trying to murder billions of people, and she acts like the victim. Like her Father and his insane "compromise," she thinks he's being unreasonable. She gets a new boy toy, one whom she believes is beneath her, because he seems to fit into the immature fantasy she has about the love life she thinks she needs, then effects what she believes to be a slow, lingering death when she becomes convinced that he was just using her to get access to the Lazarus Pit in order to cure his terminal cancer. She comes across as immature and more in love with the idea of being in love than actually being in love with someone.
As I said, I've never really grasped why Talia was supposed to be sympathetic. At best, I see her as more of a tragic character (although I guess I may be splitting hairs). It's kind of like Demona, she's a tragic character, but much of that tragedy has been driven by her own actions, and it does nothing to change the fact that she must be opposed when her actions threaten lives.
In a larger sense, I've never understood why some fans get all bent out of shape whenever anyone comes up with the idea of exploring the idea that Batman could be paired up with a woman who isn't either terrorist stalker or a selfish, amoral thief. Someone with whom he could actually have a relationship with. Someone who isn't obviously wrong for him. Why are we locked down to Catwoman or Talia, when it couldn't be more obvious that it can't work out? I'm sorry if I'm rambling, but I just don't get it.
Thank you for your time.
Well, we do ramble here. So you came to the right place, I suppose.
I don't necessarily disagree with you - though I believe I'd nuance my interpretation a bit more. Talia has sympathetic moments - as does Demona, I suppose - but that doesn't make either character sympathetic. And I certainly wasn't looking to make Talia sympathetic here in any overall sense. "Tragic" works too, to a degree. But even that's not the word I'd chose.
But also keep in mind, that you don't know HOW Talia and Batman met on Earth-16 or how their relationship might have developed. You only know how it ENDED. (Let alone what relationship, if any, Batman might have with Selina Kyle.) I also think it's part of who Batman is that he's ATTRACTED to darkness and the hope of redemption, but that he's too rational to allow that attraction to win him over for more than a moment. (Defining "moment" loosely.)
Hello Mr Weisman,
In the recent Young Justice episode Misplaced I was just curious as to why Red Tornado was not in both universes/worlds/realms. Since he is not a flesh and blood person like all the other heroes. And all the other objects and appliances seemed to be unaffected by Klarion's spell and inhabit both realms, for example Dr. Fate's helmet. So I guess my question is, why was Red Tornado in the world with all the people over 18 years of age and not in the universe with the individuals under the age of 18?
Perception.
Quick Question:
Are there any trains or airports in Happy Harbour?
I'm sure there are trains. I tend to doubt that there's more than a local airfield though.
Hi Greg, first off I want to say thanks to you and the talented team you work with for making YJ such a good show.
I have a couple questions pertaining to Robin that I hope you can answer.
1. As the show progresses and the characters get older, being the youngest on the team, can we expect Robin to go through any noticeable height changes or for his voice to get deeper? I would imagine he's getting hit by puberty a little bit harder than the others right now.
2. In the comics, Dick is known as something of a playboy with the ladies, or at very least a pretty boy. Will the YJ version have anything in common with the comics in that regard as the show goes on?
Thanks for taking the time to read and hopefully answer these.
1. Guess that would depend on how long we're on the air, wouldn't you think? RIght now, we've only covered less than six months of his life.
2. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
I don't mind Superman avoiding Superboy and get why he feels violated. It's great seeing Superman face something his strength and charm can't deal with. The way it has been shown has resulted in Superman coming across as unfeeling though. Even more so when other members of the League have accepted the boy. If being one sided was to generate debate, then you got what you desired. It has caused a lot of debate and Superman sure gets a lot of heat for it. We get to see Batman's perspective on stuff, might have helped see one little scene with Superman even expressing to someone he feels close to and has to keep no secrets from (I am guessing Wonder Woman or Martian Manhunter would fit that role best)why he can't offer the boy what he needs. Unless there is something else going on ...I get it but wondering if the payoff would be worth it? ie It has dragged on so long it would lose the emotional resonance? The long breaks has not helped, I guess. But many people who are rooting for Superboy want to see that resolved and in a way I almost feel like if I were Conner when Superman comes I would feel so angry I would not want to listen to what he has to say. Does that make sense?
Where has Wonder Woman been in all this? Is she an Ambassador or does she have the secret ID?
1. If it makes sense to you, who am I to disagree. Otherwise, all I can say is wait and see. This will OBVIOUSLY be addressed in both the television series and the comic book.
2. In all what?
2a. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
Barbara Gordon aka "Babs" questions ( The last question is NOT a YJ question because I want to joke around.)
1. In YJ how long has Barbara lived in Gotham City or was she born in Gotham?
2. In YJ for the record, was Barbara born with blue eyes or was she wearing blue contact lenses and that she was born with green eyes?
3. In YJ, when did Barbara start wearing earrings?
4. Would you say that Barbara Gordon is "the Kim Possible of DC Comics"?, even though Christy Carlson Romano has never voiced her. I'm going to be very very honest with you Greg, if it wasn't for "KP", "Babs" here would never have been one of my most favourite DC heroines in the first place!
1. Born there.
2. I don't know.
3. I don't know.
4. Uh... I have no response to this.
Hi Greg
I've been looking forward to new episodes for months and loved Misplaced this morning. It's amazing how you make some episodes feel like mini-movies. Fitting both a compact story AND characterization for so many characters on screen is no easy task, but you guys pull it off wonderfully.
I wanted to ask you if were able to fill in the blanks for some characters who did not have credited voice actors?
1x09 - Bereft
- Scientist #1 (moustache and glasses)
- Scientist #2 (beard and glasses)
1x11 - Terrors
- Belle Reve Guard Hart
- Belle Reve Guard Cooper
1x13 - Alpha Male
- Hunter (who hunts with Mayor Hill)
1x17 - Disorder
- Norman
- Norman's Mother
1x18 - Secrets
- Museum Curator
1x19
- Commissioner Gordon (I think it was him who spoke to the adult crowd)
- Amber
These might be too minor to have a credited actor
- Girl on street who lost her mom who was sitting on the stairs
- Man in car who lost his son
- Man who yelled at man above
- Kid who said Artemis sang the wrong song
Thanks again for your help on these and for such an awesome show. Not since Avatar The Last Airbender have I looked forward to a new episode in a series as much as I do for YJ. I also hope the quality in animation never changes. To me, the overall quality (esp. character shadings) was better than the recent Justice League Doom, which used the same designs by Phil Bourassa.
According to my my notes - which were accurate per the day of the recording, but may not reflect with perfect accuracy the final product - here's what I've got:
109
Scientist #1 - Nolan North
Scientist #2 - Marina Sirtis (Looks like we changed this to a guy.)
111
Guards in the script were NOT identified by name.
Prison Guard #1 was James Remar. (I think his lines got divided up among a number of different guards.)
Prison Matron #1 was Masasa Moyo.
113
Hunter #1 - Nolan North.
Hunter #2 - Bruce Greenwood
117
Thug #1 (Norman) - Nolan North.
Old Woman (Norman's Mother) - Grey Delisle.
118
Museum Curator - Crispin Freeman.
119
Okay, clearly here, you were just impatient and not prepared to wait to see who played Gordon and Amber. Both names appeared in the credits, which were eventually reposted here. So I'm not going to reward your impatience by reposting those answers here.
Kid #1 - Dee Bradley Baker
Kid #2 - Lacey Chabert
Mother - Masasa Moyo
Father - Khary Payton
Driver - Kevin Michael Richardson
The children in the gym aren't identified separately in my notes.
In "Misplaced," Robin initally starts to say Watchtower, but awkwardly changes mid-word, seemingly because Zatanna is present. Was he deliberately keeping it from Zatanna, or am I just seeing things?
Yes, he was.
Mr. Weisman, after the events depicted in "Misplaced," who's Zatanna's legal guardian? For that matter, although I suppose "John Jones" is the guardian for "Megan Morse," who's the technical legal guardian for "Conner Kent."
1. I'm thinking Bruce Wayne. But don't hold me to that.
2. John Smith.
Mr. Weisman, in reading some of your answers here, I've gathered that, on Earth-16, Martians call their planet "M'arzz." However, I've long since understood it to be that the Martians call it "Ma'aleca'andra," in an obvious homage to the classic sci-fi novel Out of the Silent Planet by Clive Staples Lewis, were they called it Malacandra (http://www.martianmanhunter.wikia.com/wiki/Ma'aleca'andra). Did you go your own way deliberately, or were you unaware that this had been established (I'll admit that I don't know when).
I was unaware. Maybe M'arzz is short for Ma'aleca'andra, or it's an alternate name, or one is more current: like Earth = Gaea = Terra.
(All things are true. Few things are accurate.)
1) How old is Bane?
2) Since the Blockbuster formula effects the subject's mind, does that mean that Desmond is now less intelligent than he was before? If so to what degree?
1. Twenty-seven.
2. He's certainly more cloudy. I don't know how to measure this for you though.
Is spiderman the mole ??
Really? You thought this was funny enough to clog the queue?
Hi Just in the beginning of Misplaced, what did Batman need Miss. M to get for him.
2) will each of the teams birthdays come up.
3) i dont know why i feel like Artemis has never celebrated her birthday.
4)did she have a really bad childhood with her father
1. Whatever was on his list.
2. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
3. I don't either.
4. I think that's safe to say, if you've seen the series.
Hello, Mr. Greg Weisman,
I am a big fan of Young Justice and I have watched every episode up to the date of this posting. I have enjoyed each episode and I look forward to the rest of them. This is my first time asking questions to you. I deeply apologize if any of my questions accidentally break your guidelines. Please understand that it is not my intention to upset you if that ends up to be the case, because I believe you are a reasonable person.
It is only fair that I tell you that I may ask questions on this posting (and possibly others in the future) about topics/events that have occurred prior to the events of Season One. If I do ask such questions, they would be based on my personal assumptions:
a. I am assuming that Young Justice MAY continue BEYOND Season Two. Iâm praying (every night!) that Cartoon Network will allow the renewal for more seasons.
b. I am assuming that information regarding events that took place prior to the show might NOT ever be revealed/discussed within the Earth-16 continuity (on the show or in the comics). This is because you've made it clear that the teenage superheroes are the main focus, and not their mentors.
c. I am assuming that you are probably more comfortable about answering questions about past and present events rather than future events because asking what will happen in the future instantly result in a spoiler request or no comment, and like I said, youâd probably get extremely upset. Also because this is the past weâre talking about, Iâm guessing anything is bound to have happened.
My questions are listed below. Starting with this posting, and in future postings, the maximum number of questions Iâll probably give you is five. Hopefully, it will make things easier for you.
1. Iâve read one of your responses to a posting which states that the founding members of the Justice League did meet individually prior to 2003, the year in which they all came together. So, since youâve proven that this fact is true, is it possible you can tell specifically which members met, when (Month/Day/Year)it happened, and what was the circumstances involved that caused them to meet? Given there are only seven founding members, I personally doubt there were many individual encounters prior to the big team-up.
2. Aside from the fact that the Justice League came together to fight a common foe in 2003 and the fact that Joker discovered the original secret sanctuary of the Justice League in 2006, is there any other major events that took place before the series that we, the fans of the show, need to be aware of? After all, a lot most likely happened in the span of just seven years before the events of the Season One, agreed?
3. Youâve confirmed that Green Arrow had lost his fortune under unknown circumstances. So, since this is obviously a serious issue for Oliver, what happened to his company, Queen Industries, as a result? Also, has he been spending any time fighting to try getting his fortune back?
4. Your responses to other peopleâs postings confirm that Wonder Woman is 85 years old, Vandal Savage is around 50,000 years old, and Raâs al Ghul is around 600-700 years old. I pretty much understand what the circumstances behind why their ages are as they were described to be, but it does bring up an interesting question: If you could identify the ages of these three characters based ONLY by their physical appearances, how old would they be? For example, would Wonder Womanâs physical appearance make her appear as though she was a woman in her late 20s or early 30s? I hope to hear your response to this particular question because Iâm quite interested.
5. You are probably most likely aware there are a number of different interpretations of how Krypton was destroyed. I myself know at least three of them: the one in the movies, the one in Superman: The Animated Series, and the one in CW's Smallville. Out of sheer curiosity, what is your teamâs interpretation of Kryptonâs destruction in the Earth-16 universe (assuming itâs an original interpretation and not one that draws inspiration from other interpretations of the Superman mythology)? I am interested to know as to what exactly happened, please understand that.
Thank you for taking the time to read my first set of questions. I apologize if my first posting seems longer that it should be. If for any reason I have UNINTENTIONALLY broken you guidelines, I am TRULY sorry, and you have my word that I will try to be more careful in the future. Anyway, keep up the good work! I will keep praying to God that, somehow, Cartoon Network will allow the renewal of more seasons for the show.
1. I haven't tracked this with the kind of specificity you're asking for.
2. I'm sure a lot happened. If it's major, it's a SPOILER REQUEST. If it's not, I haven't tracked it.
3. I'm not confirming or denying the name of his company or what happened to it. I will say - again - that Ollie has decided that he's legitimately happier without his fortune. Whether he's kidding himself is another story.
4. I'm not sure why you can't observe this on the show and decide for yourself.
5. I'm not familiar with Smallville's version, and it's been SO long since I saw the animated version, I don't pretend to remember that one clearly either. I'd certainly borrow elements from the Superman movie, but I'm an old school guy, and would probably be heavily influenced by the pre-Crisis on Infinite Earths comics I read as a kid.
So, I know I'm biased, but this Saturday's penultimate episode of YOUNG JUSTICE's first season really is a MUST SEE for the series: "Usual Suspects" brings all sorts of plotlines to a head, with large measures of action, humor and even romance. If you like the show at all, you'll want to see this one. (And if you haven't seen it in English, you'll want to watch it in its native tongue.) As per usual, it's airing as part of DC NATION on Cartoon Network on Saturday with a rerun Sunday. Check local listings.
Does the public know that the Martian race is still around or do they think that J'onn and M'gann are the only ones? Do they know about Atlantis too?
Greg Weisman says:
"Thanks to Martian Manhunter there is some (minimal) awareness that Mars is inhabited. There isn't any diplomatic or trade relations between the planets at this time. No communication either."
[Response recorded on February 13, 2012.]
Greg Weisman says:
"Very little."
[Response recorded on February 10, 2012.]
Is it true that the episode Performances is going to be Robin-centered? Or is this just a rumor?
Thanks!
Greg Weisman says:
"Hey gang,
This coming Saturday, April 7th on Cartoon Network's DC NATION is episode 124 of YOUNG JUSTICE: 'Performance.' It's focus is on Robin, his origins and one of his oldest friends. Plus we've got a nice little Superboy subplot, Red Arrow's second mission with the Team and much, much more. The whole block (which also includes Green Lantern and some terrific shorts) repeats again on Sunday the 8th. Check local listings for times."
[Response recorded on April 5, 2012.]
is robin attracted to zatanna?
Greg Weisman says:
"I think he has a crush on Zatanna."
[Response recorded on November 29, 2011.]
Who the Mole on the Team?
Greg Weisman says:
"SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT."
[Response recorded on February 8, 2012.]
I have a Young Justice question:
It seems like everyone got a centric episode except Robin. Kaldur got 'Downtime', Wally got 'Denial', Artemis got 'Homefront' and Conner and M'gann got 'Terrors', 'Disordered', 'Welcome to Happy Harbor'. Robin might have featured more in 'Homefront' and a few others, but none of them are Robin-centric. Is this intentional? Was it done for creative reasons? Is it because everyone knows Dick/Robin from previous shows?
Greg Weisman says:

[Response recorded on April 5, 2012.]
Is Wonder Woman actually apart of the Justice League or is she just a friend of them that helps them out every once in awhile? Only reason I ask is because we've only seen cameo's of her and we have yet to hear her speak.
Greg Weisman says:
"Hey gang,
Tomorrow, Saturday, March 24, 2012 - and repeating again on Sunday - is the American premiere of Young Justice episode 122, 'Agendas'. This is a BIG story for Superboy - and for the entire JUSTICE LEAGUE, as well, featuring special guest star MAGGIE Q, who absolutely rocks it as WONDER WOMAN! So tune in!"
[Response recorded March 23, 2012.]
i loved "misplaced" but i was just wondering, where was Wolf throughout that episode?
Greg Weisman says:
"Off-screen for the most part.
Probably with the kids. Though Wolf is borderline."
[Response recorded on April 12, 2012.]
Will we see the Flaming C again?
Greg Weisman says:
"SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT."
[Response recorded on April 12, 2012.]
During the episode "Misplaced" Klarion casts a spell on Zatanna. Is it a spell that you can understand if you don't say it backwards? If so could you tell me what he said?
Greg Weisman says:
"119 'Misplaced'/Klarion's 'baby magic' spells:
Fi ehs stnaw ot etativel os yldab, tel reh."
[Response recorded on April 12, 2012.]
Was the guy with the megaphone at S.T.A.R. Labs Commissioner Gordon?
Greg Weisman says:
"Yes."
[Response recorded on April 12, 2012.]
Just a quick question:
1.) Are you aware that Turkey has quite possibly rendered any SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENTS. you've ever sent?
Greg Weisman says:
"Hello,
I've given the ASK GREG moderators permission to DELETE any question that refers to or spoils episodes of Young Justice that have NOT YET AIRED in the United States.
Personally, I think it's bad enough folks are spoiling things FOR THEMSELVES, when they will soon be able to see the episodes in English and at a decent quality within a matter of a few short weeks. (And the blame-Cartoon-Network excuse holds ZERO water for me, as these people are still CHOOSING to view episodes ahead of schedule. No one is holding a gun to their heads.) But the fact that they are spoiling things for folks who are trying NOT to get spoiled is just outrageously obnoxious.
I'd like the ASK GREG queue to be a safe place. I NEED people to be able to read the queue to see if someone ahead of them has already asked the question they're intending to ask. In fact, I've pretty much DEMANDED that people check the queue before asking a question, so forcing them to check something that will spoil their enjoyment of the series is flat out unfair.
Thus the deletions.
And this is all beside the fact that asking a question HERE at ASK GREG to get an explanation of something in an episode that wasn't understood because it was not in English is, well, IDIOTIC. At the length of the current queue, it'll be months before I get to these questions, and the episodes will air here in the U.S. in a matter of weeks. So by the time I get to these questions, the answers will no longer be required - so all that is really being accomplished is that folks have found yet another way to bog down the queue. In fact, this practice is SO idiotic, I'm having trouble believing the questions are being asked with any sincerity. It seems more like a demonstration of power. Trolling, pure and simple.
Either way - whether this is due to naivete or trolling - please just STOP. Please."

Hey greg!
would yo be willing to answer this?
1.Is there any chance of Joker making more appearances on the show?
Greg Weisman says:
"SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT."
[Response recorded on April 12, 2012.]
So, in Misplaced, Klarion was put into the children's Earth while the other mages were in the adults' Earth, but you said that Klarion is older than the Earth itself (or something like that), so why was Klarion considered "under 18?" Is it because he may be ageless but his body is still a child's or is it because he's Klarion and he does whatever he wants?
Both, plus maybe he's still a child by Lord of Chaos standards.
Who was Artemis talking about when she asked Wally "Did you call him?" In the latest episode??
You misheard. She said: "Did you call home?"
Wow. 'Misplaced' was fantastic! So many cool twists - especially Zatara becoming Doctor Fate. I can't wait for next week's episode!
1. How old is Prince Orm?
Thanks!
1. Twenty-six.
Back when I reviewed "Revelation" in October, I said: "I hope the next time someone puts that helmet on, taking it off does not come so easily." Yeah, I think it's safe to say I'm a sadistic monster and that I got what I wanted. More on that in a bit.
Upon reading the summary for "Misplaced," I will admit that I rolled my eyes a little at the set-up. All adults disappearing, in a world with only kids. I've seen it before, and it's almost always played in a very goofy manner. It's a cliche that I've found very tiring. But as the episode began, and the adults disappeared, I said to myself "wow, this is pretty dark" and frankly, I should have expected that from a series that is pretty dark in general. I was actually digging it. A cliche that I hate, and I was digging it. And that was before Act Two started and we found out the adults weren't actually gone. By the time the third act got going, and Captain Marvel was warping between dimensions to keep both the Team and the Leaguers up to speed on what the other side was doing, I was loving it.
I thought this episode was Captain Marvel's best showing to date. Now, I've never read a comic with Captain Marvel before in my life. I'm aware of the set-up, who he is, but he's another concept I always found corny. In this episode, well, he was really the key to cracking it open. The rather silly concept (okay, all superheroes are silly concepts when we get down to it) was played straight, and so honest that I forgot how corny I've always found the character.
But the real meat of the episode was Zatanna, whom I've enjoyed since she first appeared on this show. I will admit, I saw the tragedy coming pretty early in the episode. I just knew Zatara was going to end up as the new vessel of Nabu. What I didn't see coming was that Zatanna would put on the helmet of Fate first. So, instead of Zatara sacrificing himself to save the world from Klarion, he sacrifices himself to save his daughter. While both are heroic, the latter is just much more moving, and personal. Zatanna did take the helmet off, and it did not come easy. I've been clamoring for Zatanna to join the team since she first appeared, and like with the Helmet, I got what I wanted. Albeit through tragic circumstances. But, as established earlier, I am a sadistic monster.
I saw the Light's Xanatos Gambit coming a mile away, but I did enjoy it. And now we get another piece of the puzzle. So, Riddler is an agent of the Light, eh? Cool. And I always love me some evil Thom Adcox.
Overall, a solid episode for the series to return on. Thus far, "Young Justice" has been a series I like a lot, but not one that I love... which, in spite of my liking it a lot, made it a tad disappointing to me. I love "Gargoyles," I loved "Spectacular Spider-Man," I even loved "W.I.T.C.H." once I allowed myself to get past the fairy wings on the teenage girls and actually watch it. Is my being disappointed for just liking it a lot unfair? Yes... but I guess I hold Greg Weisman's shows to much higher standards, the same way I hold Martin Scorsese, or David Lynch, Quentin Tarantino, or the Coen Brothers to higher standards than I hold, let's say Joe Johnston. But the past few episodes, particularly "Secrets" and "Humanity" have just knocked it out of the park. And with a welcome return, and things looking to climax over the next seven episodes, I might end up loving "Young Justice" after all.
One can hope...
Hello, Mr. Weisman. Long time viewer, first time question-asker. First, I just want to say "thank you" for all the quality entertainment you and everyone who works with you have produced over the years.
1) Ra's al Ghul knows Batman's secret identity; has he shared this information with his allies in The Light?
2) What does Superboy consider his real name to be? I ask because he started to introduce himself to the Forever People as "Conner" before switching to "Superboy", and to the best of my knowledge, he's never introduced himself to anyone as "Conner", instead having others do it for him.
3) Was Hugo Strange the Deputy Warden of Belle Reve, in addition to being the resident psychiatrist?
3a) How old is Hugo Strange?
3b) How long has he worked at Belle Reve?
3c) Was Strange already working for the Light when he started working at Belle Reve, or was he recruited afterwards?
4) Does Vandal Savage have any children who were born in the past 40 years or so?
5) Are the New Gods genuine gods, or just very advanced, powerful aliens?
5a) Why is Desaad's master (presumably Darkseid, but I'm assuming nothing at this point) referred to as "Unspeakable"?
6) How old is Lord Kobra?
7) Do any members of the Team have a particular favourite movie? If so, would they be real-life movies, or fictional ones?
8) Why are Robin, Kid Flash, Artemis, and Zatanna allowed to drive motorcycles? None of them are old enough to have a driver's license.
1. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
2. He's adjusting to Conner.
3. No.
3a. Fifty-one.
3b. I haven't nailed that down specifically.
3c. He was already who he is. I'm not going to get into the specifics.
4. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
5. Depends on your belief system, I guess.
5a. Well, mostly because it amused Desaad to refer to him that way.
6. Thirty-seven.
7. I'm just not gonna do this one. Sorry.
8. Laws differ by state.
1)Does the team call themselves Young Justice? If not, are they thinking about a name?
2)Is every youngester with potencial offered the opportunity to join the team? What's the criteria?
Glad the show is back!!
1. ASKED AND ANSWERED.
2. They must exist in our universe for starters. Right now, we've pretty much got all the teen heroes that exist on the Team. The only current exception is Rocket... but stay tuned this Saturday to see what happens with her.
This is...going to be an odd post.
Six years ago, I was a lonely and bored kid surfing the Internet for pretty pictures of one of my favorite shows, WITCH. I stumbled upon my first fanfiction. I was eleven and hooked. I've managed to bond with many people because of that discovery and self-published some of my writing.
Fast forward to December 2010. I heard of this fantastic new show, Young Justice, and unfortunately missed the premiere due to my DVR not working. I decided to surf the Web and stumbled upon an anonymous writing meme for Young Justice. It's still the most interactive, fun place I've been online, and it got me out of a slump I'd fallen into with my writing. In fact, the Young Justice fandom is the most active and interactive fandom I've ever been in.
I have Asperger's Syndrome- I find it difficult to connect with people at all. So...thank you. Thank you for making such great shows that people love so much that we can all connect to. It's really made my life so much better.
You know, I really don't think I know the definition of "meme".
Otherwise, you're very welcome!!
Hey Greg,
Love Young justice have a few questions for you
1.Do we see more of the Joker?
2. Will Robin and Zatanna hook up?
SPOILER REQUESTS. NO COMMENT.
So, what exactly did you look for in choosing the characters in the show. According to Wikipedia,
'The six main characters were chosen by the producers, from a list of 50 to 60 DC Comics teenaged superheroes, as potential candidates'
I know that Robin was probably required by law to be used, but were there any young heroes in particular you wanted to use but were cut out?
Okay, now for the Geek questions, and hopefully they are new
1; I've seen Rocket in the commercials, and you answered a similar question with the Joker so you can't back out....who is Rocket's voice actor?
2; What State is Dakota located in
3; Ditto with Fawcett City
4; Does the martian manhunter retain his choco addiction?
5; Is Wildcat still active as a hero?
6; Why did you choose to create a 16 member strong Justice League, as opposed to a larger (See JLU) or smaller one (See Justice League Doom)
Seven; Is Amanda Waller the herophobic person she was in Justice League or is she too minor a character to think about
8; Okay, so Amazo was disassembled and sent to Star Labs, which was attacked by the Fog the next episode. Did you forget that detail or is it a spoiler.
9; Now that Doctor Fate is in Zatara's body...is he still in the Justice League?
10; Why are there two Green Lanterns? I've noticed that John Stewart is given more a role than Hal, appearing in Alpha male and talking in Failsafe.
11; Did Cadmus manage to get Robin's DNA in Fireworks? Or for that matter, Kid Flash's or Aqualad's?
12; Finally, that scene with the six original main characters facing down their mentors, plus Wonder Woman, at the hall...when will we see that scene?
No single character was "required by law" or even any executive at Warners or CN. Robin made the cut for his own strengths, his popularity and familiarity among them.
No one was cut because we were forced to use or not use someone, with the possible exception of Wonder Girl, who - initially - was off limits. But even with her, she was declared off-limits so early in the process that there's no way to know if she would have wound up making the cut or not.
1. You'll know this Saturday.
2. I don't feel any need to pin this down. But it's in the Central Time Zone.
3. Ditto.
4. If you like.
5. No. Not really, which is not to say he NEVER goes into action.
6. We wanted to give the feeling of the GODS OF OLYMPUS, so we chose the characters that would give us that feeling and play into what we had planned. Plus, you know, 16.
7. No one's too minor to think about, but SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
8. There are MANY Star Labs in many cities.
9. You'll find out this Saturday.
10. There are two Green Lanterns in the Justice League because (a) that's what made sense for our Earth-16 and because (b) we wanted a League that felt overwhelmingly powerful.
11. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
12. You mean the promo footage? Clearly, you've already seen it. Otherwise, never. It's not canon. It was promo footage.
1a In misplaced where were wolf and sphere 1b what dimension were they in adult or kids
1a. Off-screen for the most part.
1b. Probably with the kids. Though Wolf is borderline, and there's always the possibility that Sphere was split.
Thanks for answering fan questions. Just has a couple Wotan ones.
1. How did Wotan join Klarion after getting captured in Revelation?
2. Any chance Wotan's escape after Revelation may get featured in the comic?
Thanks.
1. It's hard to hold Wotan prisoner... especially with allies like Klarion.
2. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
1.Does Billy Batson have a crush on Miss Martian? Or is it like a fan crush thing?
2. How much does Green Arrow care about Artemis?
3. Are Artemis, Megan, and Zatanna going to have some girl bonding in future epsiodes?
4. How close are Icon and Rocket? Does Rocket think of him like a father? What does Icon think about Rocket?
1. What's a 'fan crush thing'?
2. You want me to quantify it?
3. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
4. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
1. Does anyone in the Justice League know that Cheshire is Artemis' sister?
2. Did Artemis tell Green Arrow or anyone in the League that she let Cheshire go?
SPOILER REQUESTS. NO COMMENT.
hey Greg
1. does Two Face make an appearance on Young Justice
2. Will Joker make any future appearances
SPOILER REQUESTS. NO COMMENT.
Given their similarities was Red Inferno's story based loosely off of Tomorrow Woman's?
Nope. (As I was, at the time, unfamiliar with Tomorrow Woman.)
Dear Greg,
I was just wondering if the team knows the relationship between Kid Flash and the Flash, similar to how they know that M'Gan is Martian Manhunter's niece, Zatanna is Zatara's daughter and that Artemis is Green Arrow's "niece".
Neither Wally nor Barry play their secret identities as close to the vest (among other heroes) as, say, Batman does. So I'd think, yes.
Dear Mr Weisman,
First off I want to say how much I love Young Justice; the story telling and animation style is gorgeous and brilliant, and I love how it always keeps me guessing, I never know what will happen next. I have a couple of questions relating to the comics and the relationship of Batman and Talia.
1 How old is Talia?
2 How long has the "relationship" been going on?
BTW just saw Misplaced and it was fantastic! And I have a couple of questions about that as well:
1 Was the big blonde guy riling up the crowd outside STAR labs in Gotham Sportsmaster unmasked?
2 Was that Commissioner Gordon on top of a squad car with the megaphone in the same scene?
Lastly this isn't a question but an observation. I've read a lot of the Ask Gregs and internet chatter about Superman and how people don't like the portrayal of him being so cold towards Superboy, because they find it "unSuperman" but I love it. It seems so natural that he would feel violated by people he has sworn to protect, and I'm sure on a deep level he knows it isn't Superboy's fault he exists he just doesn't know how to act around him.
Keep up the amazing work, I can't wait to see how this season's story ends :)
1. Talia is 26.
2. I'm just going to refer you back to the comic.
1. Yes.
2. Yes.
Hi, Greg, Young Justice is genius. Have a couple questions-
1. Have you heard any rumors or news around the studio about a potential YJ season 3?
2. Do you have an idea in mind for where you would take the show in a season 3?
3. Have you ever considered ideas for a Young Justice spin-off?
4. Would you ever consider doing a different Earth 16 Series if given the chance?
Thanks.
1. I don't report on rumors. (Why, what have you heard?)
2. Absolutely. Brandon and I have enough ideas to fill a few hundred seasons.
3. Yes.
4. Yes.
Greg,
It's really cool of you to take time out to answer questions like these. This is the closest to "DVD commentary" that we can get, which leads to my question:
Would you consider doing a "director's commentary" podcast of an episode or few of Young Justice (your choices of course) that could be posted here as mp3s that we can play along while watching to episode on mute?
Thank you again for your time.
Xum
I'd be happy to do it, but that's way beyond my technical capabilities.
Hi Greg!
I just have one question.
In "Terrors", did Miss Martian put on the other prison uniform? At the end, though, she shifted fully back into her superhero costume. Can she just shift out of whatever she's wearing, regardless of whether or not it's "Martian" clothing?
She pulled a fast one, so that it was assumed she changed, but she was still wearing her organic Martian clothing.
Someone asked you about the occurrences of the number 16. I just wanna let you know where you can find a list of them:
http://youngjustice.wikia.com/wiki/16
Question: Failsafe is episode 16. Did this bear any relevance while writing the episode?
Yes.
Greg, I love Young Justice, it's really wonderful show. So I have a couple questions-
1. I'm not sure if you can say anything on this yet, but how.does Young Justice: Legacy work within conjunction to the show? According to what's been released so far, it features a brand new storyline set between seasons 1 and 2, but yet you said season 1 ends December 31, and Season 2 begins January 1. Does the game take place over a night?
2. What made you guys choose for Zatara to become the new Doctor Fate? Was it make Zatanna more like Robin with the loss of her dad?
Thanks for answering fan questions.
1. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
2. It felt right, and - in a strange way - true to the comics, especially if you've read the Swamp Thing issues that led to Zatara's death.
2a. No.
I just want to say how much I appreciate how you are using Milestone characters in Young Justice. Even though it was not meant to be this, it still is a great tribute to Dwayne MacDuffie's memory, especially considering how underused the characters are in the comics proper.
And now for actual questions...
1) Out of all the villians in the Light, Queen Bee seems very out of place. In the comics, the Bialian Queen Bee was never given an actual name. So, was Queen Bee added because A) you wanted a dictator supervillain and she fit the bill, B) it was the perfect role for Marina Sirtis, C) you wanted to add an obscure character to the Light, or D) all of the above?
2) Related to the above, will Queen Bee be given an actual name? Not searching for spoilers, it just bothers me that she didn't have a name in the comics.
3) Since Young Justice is TV-PG, you can get away with a lot more stuff than, say, Spongebob. So I'm wondering if there was anything in the scripts that you wanted to add but the higher-ups did not allow. I say this because someone asked earlier about Rocket's son and wondered if Cartoon Network would have allowed a character to be a teen mother. Not looking for spoilers, like I said before, but I just like knowing behind the scenes stuff, although I assume you would like to save revealing this stuff until after the show's finished.
And finally, will Stephanie Brown appear? Oh, wait...that might be a...*puts sunglasses on* Spoiler Request. *YYYYEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH*
1. None of the above, really. She made the master villain list, and she seemed to be a nice fit with the others. Much as I love Marina, casting didn't play into it at that stage. Her being the dictator of a country, her powers, her being female all played in. I personally don't think of her as being obscure, but that's probably because I was writing comics in the late eighties, when she was prominent.
2. What makes you think her name isn't Bee?
3. We haven't had much in the way of censorship issues on this series.
Hey Greg, just watched Misplaced. Y U DO THIS TO ME? My feelings are exploding right now. But thank you.
1) How do you feel about CN constantly putting your show on hiatus? Does it make you feel angry like your "babies" are being ignored? I mean it's been over a year and the first season isn't even over, granted it will be in a couple weeks, buutttt... Yep.
2) Is Klarion gay? He seems very flamboyant and metrosexual. Or maybe it's just me stereotyping. Love his nails, by the way. And his facial expressions. And everything about him, it's pERFECT.
3) Are any characters gay or bisexual? If so, who?
4) If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why? Or if you can't decide, which superhero would you like to be and why?
5) Does Artemis use any hair products? She has a lot of it so maybe she might need even hairspray or something.
6) Any of the girls use make up? Or even the boys, haha.
7) Will the Flaming C ever be a regular on the show? Wait, before you answer it, is it a SPOILER ALERT?
8) In Bereft, when Wally wakes Artemis up and she yells "Who put me in this?!" in regards to her costume, then Wally says right after, "I'm not touching that with a ten foot..." and then he never finishes the sentence. Why does he say that and what does it mean? I never understood its context or anything.
9) In Misplaced, when Wally tells Artemis that Dr. fate targeted Teekl to defeat Klarion, he didn't have his cast on (this was also a released screenshot before the episode). But later Wally did. It's... very confusing. Not a question, but just pointing this out.
Okay, thanks Greg. ROCK ON!
1. Well, the hiatus seems to be over, so...
2. He's young. Why label?
3. I'm sure there are, but these are DC characters. It's not for me to say.
4. People keep asking me this recently. I'm not sure why. Once upon a time, I had different desires. Nowadays, I mostly just want a big damn sword.
5. I don't know much about that stuff.
6. Ditto.
7. SPOILER REQUEST. NO COMMENT.
8. I'm really not eager to explain this. Ask a friend.
9. It's what we call an error.
Misplaced was a really good adaption of A World Without Grown-Ups! Really happy Zatanna is on the team, too.
1. Now that Zatara is Doctor Fate, is someone going to replace him on the League?
2. Is this the first time the Justice League has lost a member?
3. Was Amber an original character? I looked up her name on the DC wiki, but couldn't find anything.
4. Was the intro shortened by you or CN?
4A. If it was you, why did you shorten it?
4B. SPeaking of intros, will we get a new one for Invasion?
5. How did you decide who went into Klarion's magic group? Was it like what you did for the Team?
1. By now you've (hopefully) seen the League discuss just that, but you'll have to wait until this Saturday for the results of their vote.
2. Yes.
3. Amber Joyce is a pre-existing DC character.
4. It was shortened to buy time for the DC Nation shorts.
4A. See above.
4B. Yes, but it'll be just as short.
5. These were all characters who were on our original villain list for potential Light members. Blackbriar Thorn has always been a particular favorite of mine, since I loved the Kubert design.
Hey! First of all, thank you for the awesome show! I was never into superheroes until it saw your show!! Thanks! XD
Secondly, I just saw Misplaced (which was amazing by the way!) and I was wondering why Klarion's eyes turned al red and small. Does it happen whenever he wants and did they do that before in Denial?
This might be considered a spoiler, and if so then just don't answer, but will there be more Batman and Robin moments? Cause those are definetly my favorite!!!
Thanks for the awesome show!!!! :)
1. We have two models for Klarion. One is more demonic than the other. We used both in both episodes.
2. Normally, I'd say SPOILER REQUEST, NO COMMENT. But this is so basic and obvious, that it's easy enough to answer yes.
So I have a quesstion about the spell Klarion and the others were using in the beginning of "Misplaced." It sounded like it was German? I could pick up the first three words, "Wir sind die," which translates to "We are the," but I couldn't understand what came after that. What did they say? Were they speaking German? Or am I totally off base?
Thank you! :)
Greg Weisman says:

[Response recorded on April 11, 2012.]
Hey Greg, let me start by saying I love Young Justice, espacially the art! Now I have a couple of questions:
1. Who does Bette live with?
2. Did Bette ever go by Betty, if so why did she change it?
3. Where was Wonder Woman during Misplaced?
4. In Misplaced when, the adults were missing and the teens were taking care of the children, Did Barbara wonder were Dick was?
5. Does Miss Martian think she and Artemis are close friends? Does Artemis think she and Miss Martian are close friends?
6. Where was Roy during Misplaced?
1. Haven't thought about it.
2. No. She's always been Bette.
3. Busy.
4. Maybe she called him.
5a. Yes.
5b. Yes.
5c. Both their definitions may be one-sided.
6. In the adult dimension, helping to deal with the resulting chaos.
Hi!
I have a few Young Justice questions about magic. First, is magical affinity in their world partly genetic? (Zatanna shares her father's powers, and many Atlanteans have magical skill.) Or does it have more to do with teaching and personality (Kent Nelson told Nabu that Wally's soul belonged to science)? Could a lone student with a spellbook learn, or does it take more than that?
Last, I absolutely loved Zatanna changing her boots to a more practical version in "Secrets"! More battle-practical female attire, please!
1. It helps.
2. Certain individuals may have more of an affinity for magic than others.
3. Potentially. Doesn't mean they'll be good at it.
4. Thanks; we agree.
